« on: December 29, 2003, 06:38:04 AM »
I dont know if something is wrong with your other games but i can tell you that when i was playing True Crime it has a horrible slowdown sometimes. I swear it was at like 1 frame per second. I don't even usually notice slowdown. So that lag your talking about is the game not your Cube.

The only people I would see this benefiting is people who will try to flick off their second hand GCs when they have no need for them, flood the market and hoard the games, which are no longer in production. Then second hand GC game prices would soar. However, Nintendo doesn’t care about this market at all, the only advantage they could possibly obtain from such a move is if they still manufacture GC games for all the people who just bought old GCs or a new N5 to buy. That would cannibalize software sales for the later console, which is something Sony is willing to do, but Nintendo is much more focused on software.

I think backwards compatabilty is needed because disc based system don't last forever. With moving parts and the laser something will eventually break. The last thing i want is to be playing my Gamecube five years from now, have it break then have to look all over for a used one.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Animal Crossing Questions
« on: December 27, 2003, 05:36:45 PM »
i'll try to help you with your questions

1) It is definitely not worth buying a GBA for this game is thats what you're asking. The are other reasons for buying one but not just for animal crossing. With a GBA you are able to download your NES to the GBA to take with you somewhere, but you lose the game once you turn off the GBA so its not that great of a feature; you can also design patterns for free if you use the GBA (it normally cost bells to design a patern from those sisters). The other thing you use a GBA for is to go to your island place. That's what the person in your town was talking about, if you go to the dock with the GBA on a boat will be waiting to take you to the island. I can't really tell you about the E-reader since i don't have it.

2)In order to go to your friends village you put your memory card in slot A and your friend's in slot B the you talk to the train guy and get on the train to go to his town. Since only one person can play at a time, only one of you can be in a town at any time.

3)The code used by Tom Nook is how you would trade items with people. You go to Nook and tell him the name and the name of the town the person you're trading with is in. Then you give him the item and he says a code that you tell your friend to input to Nook. Your friend will recieve the item.

I hope that helps.

Good story Mouse_clicker. You have a good vocabulary. I was definitely lost while reading it, but that's because your story definitely wasn't aimed at someone like me considering i've never read any LotR books or the Hobbit. I saw The Two Towers movie but because i never saw the Fellowship of the Ring or knew anyting at all about LotR, i was so confused and lost while watching it(i only went because my friends were seeing it). I still thought your story was good. You're a talented writer.

I got a lot of video games for Christmas. True Crime, Prince of Persia, F-Zero, and Metal Arm: Glitch in the System for Gamecube. For Gameboy i got Mario and Luigi, Fire Emblem, Wario Ware, and Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow. I also got a really cool hammock chair thing for my basement, and the third season of Family Guy on DVD. Christmas was cool.

I agree with KnowsNothing, it's ugly. I think a better idea would have been make the outside black so when its closed it looks completely black and make the inside platinum.

So I goto PSEurope website the link provides and read about it, and basically
you provide a mock-up illustration of your idea for a new Eyetoy game with a short explanation.  They claim it is a World Exclusive contest, however in the fine print the contest is actually only open to about 8 countries in Europe...
Oh how this pi$$ed me off because I had two great ideas:
#1 a lightgun shooting game where you have your trusty lightgun and the eyetoy serves as a detection device for the player.  If you're not on the eyetoy camera at all, the enemies wont come out and shoot, but once u appear they will come out of hiding and shoot at you while you attempt to shoot them.  Basically it's a virtual Time Crisis game...
You can just imagine the people playing; jumping, ducking, and rolling around crazily all the while screaming and shooting in excitement.
#2 a ping-pong game, you have your end of the table on screen and it is just like the view of a tennis court in regular tennis games, ala linear perspective.  So you see the computer player (think of Super Punch Out type characters) at the other end of the table and you play by swinging your paddle back and forth just like real life ping pong.  It would be 3d much like Marios Tennis on Virtual Boy, and the view of you would not appear on the screen.  (same goes for idea #1, youre not seen on the tv)

So basically I am just upset that I can not even enter the contest.  If my ideas were online games, they would be sweet...  So now I open up to this to the fellow americans, australians, and other non europeans on the forum, what would your idea be?  (arg now you can use my idea for inspiration.. arggg)  Also I don't believe Eyetoy can live on if they never go beyond mini-games and showing you on the screen...  (note my ideas could be mini games or full blown games)  now keep the ideas coming, p.s. im having my ideas copyrighted.

I've played two games exactly like what your talking about in arcades. Both of them were only OK because the sensor things weren't perfectly accurate. In the light gun game i was ducking and i still got shot, and the ping-pong the game said i kept mising even though i thought i hit the "ball" perfectly. So, i guess someone stole your 'copyrighted' ideas even though i played those games like 2 years ago.

yep that's right, those games have been made for arcades... sar cas m
nice of you to make up complete B$ because you hold contempt against me for a post I made towards you weeks ago.  where do you get off making up things like that?

besides even IF such games in the arcades existed, my copyrights are for a home console and the eyetoy, which is not connected to arcades. (copyrights for arcades and home consoles are not one in the same) so your point is completely negated... nice try

First of all, I'm not making anything up. I've played the ping-pong game at The ESPN Zone in NYC, and the shooting one at an arcade thing by my house. Second of all, what do mean a post you made toward me? If you said something to me i honestly don't remember it or never even saw it. I wasn't trying to be mean or anything, i was just simply telling you that i have played games like that. Calm down.

Edit: got to http://www.g-g-e.com/videogames-shooting.html and scroll down to look at Police 911. Thats the light gun game i was talking about. i'm still looking for online for the ping-pong one
