I think the episode of Justice League Unlimited showed well what would happen if Superman and Captain Marvel (his alternate name of Shazam is stupid, I hope the game uses his actual name of Captain Marvel). Marvel would put up a good fight, but eventually Superman would beat the crap out of him (in the show, he picked up a building and slammed it on Marvel over and over).

Flash is fast, but not that strong.

I thought the article was nice. The title was clickbait, but the actual article was nicely written.

Neat article in the Globe and Mail:
Are Videogames Like Assassin's Creed Rewriting History?
Title suggests a troll article but it is actually pretty well balanced.

LOL, one paragraph had math that makes no sense. It said a survey showed that 90% of Americans 12-17 played games, 99% for boys and 94% for girls. So how does that break down to 90% overall?

As a person who eats at restaurants, it's more interesting and worthwhile to have it made from the consumers POV.

Kitchen Nightmares is a really good show, as is Hells Kitchen and MasterChef (the other shows starring Gordon Ramsay). On Nightmares, you have to wonder how the owner didnt fix some of the obvious problems (like one episode where there were literally cockroaches crawling around in the kitchen).

Allow Origin to be an app on the system?

There online games on Wii U already use Origin. If other developers want to use Origin for their Wii U games, I am sure they could.

1207
So if I don't buy the 3DS version, I can transfer my Wii U file to my 3DS and play it? That's what I'm asking.

No. Because all the applications lets you do is transfer your save file between the Wii U and 3DS versions of the game. You still need both copies.

I am having a hard time finding out what role Falcom had in the game. They either just licensed it out to Hudson Soft, or they co-developed the game with them.

I would love to play the game, but like ejamer I dont have the funds to buy the game.

1209
Actually, Falcom did not develop Faxanadu, they licensed it out to Hudson Soft to develop.

Hey don't forget who EA is run by, you know? the same guy who ran Sega into the ground "Peter Moore"!

Sega was already dying before Peter Moore took over (and Moore was only in charge of Sega of America), the company was deeply in debt and doing poorly already. It would be like blaming Jason Rubin for THQ going under since he took over as president shortly before going bankrupt.

I would go back in time to pitch the idea "Splash" to ABC executives, because clearly they're dumb enough to greenlight anything.

Considering the first season/series got huge ratings in the UK (the premiere episode got a 23.4% share) and is confirmed for a second season next year (UK shows are weird, the first season started this year and only aired 5 episodes, and season 2 wont be til next year), I dont think ABC thinks they are stupid for hoping the show will do well here too. I think the idea of the show is stupid, but it did well in the ratings.

General Gaming / Re: Ouya
« on: March 02, 2013, 10:45:37 PM »
Ease of development.  If you are making an Android version it be minor to move it to Ouya.

Um, only in some case is it minor. They have to re-work the game to be played using a traditional controller instead of a touchscreen, which can be a lot of work depending on the game. Do you think that many smaller Android developers will bother wasting time and resources re-working an entire game with little chance of even making back that money, yet alone profiting?
460+ games in development says yes, they will take a chance.

460 out of over 100,000 Android apps. Yeah, big support. And watch how fast support drops when almost none of those games make a profit. And why would anybody buy an Ouya just to play games they already own on their Androoid device?

I've completed Mutant Mudds four times now, and that screenshot of the game in this article is completely unfamiliar to me. I don't recognize those gold colored diamonds, that missile-looking thing, or the level layout. Is that a screenshot from an unfinished version of the game or something?

My guess is its one of the new levels for the Wii U version Mutant Mudds Deluxe.

LOL if you think porting a game from iOS/Android to Ouya will be easier than porting to 3DS, especially since Ouya has a meager touchpad like the DualShock 4 whereas 3DS pretty much exactly like iOS in terms of controls.

The rule must be recent, maybe even just for the eShop, because WiiWare had games released in Japan by non-Japanese companies (like Shin'en self-publishing Fun! Fun! Minigolf in Japan).

I think once the rampant piracy happens (which WILL happen since the company itself is encouraging people to hack the system), developer support will drop like a stone.

Tell that to all the developers supporting iOS and Android. Piracy is rampant on those platforms as well, yet they still get tons of support from developers.

iOS and Android devices sell **** loads of systems because they are smart phones and tablets, this leads to most people actually buying games and apps. Piracy is a small fraction of those. Ouya will pretty much only be bought by people who are likely to pirate. There is also the factor that the company making Ouya is encouraging people to pirate.

Sakurai has a Twitter account?

He's had one for years, it's actually VERY well known and has been mentioned many times here and on the podcasts. Sakurai loves to post pics of his cat on Twitter.

Digital games are not as big in Japan as they are in other regions, so it's not as bad as it would be in other regions.

Then explain why Sony is pushing digital distribution so hard with the PS4, given the fact that Sony is also a Japanese company...

I guess you did not read my post. I meant the situation is not as bad since digital sales in Japan are not as strong, so the eShop having a few less indy games in Japan would not be as big of a deal if that was the situation in North America or Europe. I think most indie games will still be released in Japan too (albeit with Japanese publishers), but something like Nano Assault Neo will have a bigger impact here compared to with Japan.

I'd install Ubuntu on the Ouya if it ran Gaikai

What are these strange words???

Gaikai is owned by Sony now, so good luck with that...

Sony has their PlayStation Mobile service on PlayStation Vita and Android, so it's not far-fetched. Ouya is little more than a Android device when a controller (which will require developers to re-work their Android games to support it, hence why it will not get as strong of support as it could), so it could have Sony support.

1224
I thought Nintendo was open to supporting indie developers? What the hell Nintendo? How do you expect to get any support at all in Japan if you enforce ridiculous rules like this?

Thank God Nintendo of America isn't this strict with indie developers...

Digital games are not as big in Japan as they are in other regions, so it's not as bad as it would be in other regions.

General Gaming / Re: Official THQ Auction Results (Studios and IPs)
« on: February 28, 2013, 06:53:28 PM »
Double Fine already owns the IP for Stacking and Costume Quest. They just want to get the distribution rights too (which they already own for the PC versions). I guess it's up to the stockholders to decide if they think they can get more money by selling Lot 5 together or by breaking it up.
