Anybody have a Dragon Scale they would be willing to trade? I need it to evolve my Seadra.

How hard would it be to at least port the PlayStation 2 version? Konami is basically saying "Here EA, we are giving you and the FIFA Soccer series control of the market again". EA already dominates the soccer video game market, and Konami is just helping them out by not releasing a PES/WE game on the hottest selling system worldwide.

A directors cut of a PS2 game and a port of an Xbox 360 games are hardly "new" games. In fact, that is only 1 newly announced game from Rockstar Games (and that is stretching it, since it's not really a new game).

I was planning on entering the tournament at the EB Games in my area hosting it, but the guy said they are requiring people to sign up before Saturday (and I don't think I can get out to the store tomorrow just to sign up).

This title has been long rumored, and pretty much expected once Reggie said he was trying to get Rockstar Game's support. Good to hear it made official, I enjoyed the demo I played at Target (though I don't think it's worth the $40 they were charging, and don't consider $40 to be a "budget" price).

Paper Mario was THE N64 game that I most wanted when Nintendo announced the VC. I own the the N64 game (and have beaten it several times), but I love it so much that I just downloaded it a few hours ago.us There seems to be a few problems though, some parts of the game are more jaggy than the original and the dialogue is more broken up (it's harder to read and looks choppy). Hopefully they release a patch to fix it.

You added an extra "c" in the paragraph about using the Nunchuk for beam controls.

Samus not talking would be a shame, but not a huge deal. As for one sided conversations, remember how the main character from Grand Theft Auto III never talked or even grunted?

I doubt it would be $50, this feels more like a $30 title (then again, they charged $50 for Big Brain Academy: Wii Degee).  I am actually interested in this, although anything over $50 would take away that interest.

I guess this is the final name of the "Wii Health Pack" that Miyamoto mentioned last year.

Most of those are pretty good, and I have actually heard of all the artist (unlike some music games that pick artists that are super obscure).

Not surprisisng since they decided to charge $35 for Electroplankton when it didn't even have a freaking save feature (so you could spend an hour creating music, but it will be wiped out as soon as you shut your DS off), the main reason I didn't buy the game. I would have bout it despite the lack of a save feature if it had been $20 or less (which it should have been anyways since it wasn't really a game).

It's actually about $1,100 in Brazil. The real price is only about $274, it's the ridiculously high taxes from the Brazilian government that makes it so expensive. So it's the Brazilian government's fault. The Xbox 360 is is almost $1,600 in Brazil.

It was nintendogamecube86. It was that since I registered a few years ago. Since I use TJ Spyke for basically everything, I figured I might as well change it here too.

Thanks.

Is there any way I can change my username? I want to change it to the one I use on every other messageboard i've register at, and the name I use for things like Wikipedia and my Xbox Live gamertag as well: TJ Spyke.

TalkBack / RE:Microsoft Buying Land From Nintendo
« on: July 03, 2007, 03:30:08 PM »
The value of that land is supposed to be about $28 million, and basically just a swamp (check NeoGAF to see pictures that somebody who lives in the area took of it), so Nintendo really benefitted from this (just like they did when they got $375 million for Rare).

Pretty good week overall.

The game is on sale this week at Circuit City this week for $40. I will be picking up the game when it releases tomorrow (it only ships today, the only stores that will have a chance of getting it today are those around Washington state). Being able to battle online in 3D, plus being able to get a surfing Pikachu is intriguing.

It seems like all the stages have the same basic boring design (Battlefield from SSBM). I like the unique stages like Icicle Mountain, the Temple, Big Blue, and Mute City. That's why I wasn't happy to hear that Sakurai was making more stages like the Battlefield and Final Destination and less crazy stages.

Well, we got Super Castlevania IV before the first 3 Castlevania games (and Contra III: The Alien Wars before Contra and Super Contra).

I'm sure Capcom will end up adding every Mega Man game released on the NES/SNES, even Mega Man Soccer.

I wouldn't call Mega Man a big game, especially considering how much better Mega Man 2 is.

Ugh, the backlog of games Europe now has that we don't have in North America is ridiculous:
Donkey Kong Jr. Math (NES)
Yoshi (NES)
Mach Rider (NES)
Super Mario Bros. 2 (NES)
Adventures of Lolo (NES)
Balloon Fight (NES)
Mega Man (NES)
F-Zero X (N64)
Vectorman (GEN)
China Warrior (TG16)

At a rate of 3 games per week,  it would take 4 weeks just to get through the backlog (and that's assuming we get no other games).

TalkBack / RE:Manhunt 2 Receives Preliminary AO Rating from ESRB
« on: June 19, 2007, 06:07:08 PM »
Nope, from the ESRB site (http://www.esrb.org/ratings/ratings_process.jsp):  Developers have to fill out a long questionnaire and provide a video of the most extreme moments of the game. A panel of at least 3 reviewers then review the game and recommend a rating and descriptors.

Only 23 games have gotten the AO rating, and of those:
1 was never released ("Thrill Kill" for the PS1, cancelled by EA after they purchased the developer Virgin Interactive)
1 was a temporary rating ("Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas" after the Hot Coffee incident)
1 was for the CD-i ("The Joy of Sex", which was basically just an interactive version of the book of the same name)
1 was an interactive DVD ("Body Language")
The remaining 20 were PC/Macintosh "games" (not sure which are games since at least 1 is a screensaver program: "Playboy Screensaver :The Women Of Playboy")

TalkBack / RE:Manhunt 2 Receives Preliminary AO Rating from ESRB
« on: June 19, 2007, 04:19:24 PM »
The ESRB is a voluntary ratings system, game companies are not required to have their games rated (in fact, when the ESRB was first started many PC game developers chose not to use it). However, I don't think Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft would allow unrated games to be released for their systems (and I don't think major retailers like Wal-Mart and Target would sell them). I do think it's unfair though that movies can be sold unrated and that minors can buy R rated movies while most retailers wouldn't sell unrated games and that politicians want to make it illegal to sell M rated games to minors.

T2 is still struggling financially and I doubt the new execs would want to risk the limited sales an AO rating would get. I want to know what they will do in Europe, will they just not release the game like they do in Australia when the OFLC refuses to rate a game? Why does it matter what the BBFC does anyways? I though most video games use PEGI? Checking out Wikipedia, it says PEGI rates games released in the UK unless it contains certain material. So I supposed to could just get a PEGI rating and sell it in the other 28 European countries that use PEGI and ignore the UK.
