Nintendo Gaming / RE:Metroid Prime 3 Revolutionized
« on: August 27, 2007, 05:53:58 PM »
Not to add fuel to the fire, but "air lock system"??

WTF is Matt talking about.  Has Matt ever used modeling tools before?
This comment has my wondering what the hell he is talking about.

From looking at the screen shots via the link they seem to be focusing on Ky and Sol Bad Guy.
I wonder who the main enemy will be, the Order, Justice?

Now if we could only get the Fire Emblem games...

Wow, I'm so glad the government is protecting us from pirates/mod chip makers while leaving our borders wide open.

Great use of resources...

No really...

The people making a big deal of the "racism" in RE5 need to get a life.

I believe it's a crappy fighting game based on a SRPG series that never saw the light of day in America till the PSP.

Is anyone here going to Otacon this weekend?

I'm going with a friend of mine.
It should be fun.

Didn't Warren Spector also work on System Shock 2?

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Do you regret getting RE 4 on Cube?
« on: July 15, 2007, 06:11:14 PM »
I don't regret getting RE4 for cube.  I bought game the day it came out.

I am eteranlly pissed at knowing that RE:UC was suppose to play like RE4 but got nerfed into a Survivor style game.

I would $hit a brick if it turned out to be Sta rTropics, but I don't think so.

Most likely it's Kid Icarus, as the series is quickly becoming what Metroid was duing the N64 generation.

A distant third is Golden Sun, Nintendo just Monolith Soft, and so far they have no new announced games
for the Wii.

If this is from the English version of this game then all I can say is about $#%#$ time.

Is there a release date for this yet?

TalkBack / RE:Nintendo Press Conference Live Blog + Video
« on: July 11, 2007, 06:55:50 AM »
The Mario Kart announcement has a bomb for those who like it, but I'm not a big fan of the series
so I really couldn't care less.

Really, though no another new bombs?

Yeah, "hardcore", I mean "traditional" gamers were not the focus of that conference.
What's new, Nintendo doesn't like traditional gamers anymore.

The comments made by this exec might mean something if wasn't said by a CEO whose company became famous by whoring one of the best known casual games of all time, Madden.

I can't get rid of the sinking feeling that most publishers view the Wii as quick, easy money via mini-game collections.

The new Cruis'in game might be nice.

The rest, I'm not sure whether I should laugh or cry.
I hope Ubisoft's upcoming support for the Wii is better.

I'm really curious to see how this is going to play out.
Both Sony and MS have programs for this in place I wonder what Nintendo is going to do.

General Gaming / RE:PS2 Getting Wii’d?!
« on: June 26, 2007, 06:48:57 PM »
This can't be true.

You would have to retrofit too much on the PS2.
My guess this is the next "PSX 1.5"?

Any one remember that?

Capcom has two more SNES SF games it can whore out here.

Super SF2 and SFA2.
I guess you can feel screwed over with the different versions coming out, but each version does have it's own "feel" to it.
Still if you haven't bothered with SF2 it's not worth getting now.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Guilty Gear Officially Announced For America
« on: June 23, 2007, 11:12:40 AM »
I can't imagine playing this game with the waggle controls.

If the classic controller scheme is good, then this game will do just fine.
Otherwise this will become Capcom vs Snk 2 EO Second Edition.

About control systems I hear yah KDR, but I guess that's why GG is called "chess at light speed".

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Wii Life Span
« on: June 16, 2007, 07:11:40 AM »
I'm not trying to be an elitist snob, if you love playing non-games for 5 hours straight, then God Bless You.
I'm not trying to bash you.  If it makes you happy then go for it, I'm not being sarcastic.

Here's my perspective...
I have supported Nintendo for 20 years.
I have endured the problems known as the Nintendo 64 and Gamecube.
Having bought a Wii back in December, I'm giving Nintendo one last chance to prove it can make things right.

However, everytime some one from Nintendo opens their mouth I feel Nintendo once again is ignoring me.
The Wii's online is still a joke.
The system is woefully underpowered.
The controller is innovative but not condusive to certain gameplay types, I shouldn't have to buy add-ons for the default controller.

That being said, I'm not a big fan of Sony or MS.
I can safely say this is the first generation of consoles in which I'm supporting the company I hate the least,
not the company I want to win.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Wii Life Span
« on: June 15, 2007, 06:39:41 PM »
I suppose I could turn this into a long diatribe, but the main factor that will determine the Wii's lifespan is...
"How long will casual gamers support it?"

Right now Nintendo has the casual gamer group on their side.
If Nintendo can maintain the momentum it has and the Wii base grows so stupidly large that developers have to put their main projects on it
then the Wii will last.  If in 2008 the Wii begins to stumble and casuals walk away from it expect the Wii to be called "GC version 2".
Nintendo doesn't have the hardcore gamer base other consoles have to fall back too, it has have continued casual support or it's screwed.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Project HAMMER NOOOOOOO
« on: June 15, 2007, 03:59:37 PM »
According to the IGN article Project Hammer was playable at it's debut.
Nintendo must have spent some time developing this game.

About Nintendo switching resources to make more casual games, believe it.
Many developers have already taken this view with the Wii.  Look Umbrella Chronicles for the Wii.

According to the Famitsu video interview, UC was suppose to have RE4 style gameplay.
It was changed to the current style(Dead Aim/Survivor) so it would be more
accessible to non gamers.

Nintendo is leading the way for the industry to shift to casual gaming.
I hope you enjoy the ride.

PS- NST's first game was a GBC port of the best SNK game ever made, Crystalis.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Metal Gear on Wii (not an announcement)
« on: June 09, 2007, 08:13:44 AM »
Wasn't DDR for GC on shelves for about a week?

I remember talking to a worker in Gamestop and  I remember him saying there was sometype of licensing problem and the production run of DDR mats was quite small.

I could be wrong though.

73
Nintendo should cut the price only if a price drop on the 360 causes the Wii to stop selling.

74
How many of those Wii users are hardcore gamers?
That's what I want to know.

I like Peter Moore's comments.
Unlike many execs in the industry he knows what the hell he is doing.

75
I really hate to defend IGA, but I think there's some "Lost in Translation" in that interview.

I assume many people here know that Castlevania in Japan is basically tanking.
From just about every Castlevania(CV) since Circle of the Moon, the CV series has sold about
5x better in the west then compared to Japan.

When IGA took the series over he made a switch to an anime art style to help boost it's appeal to younger gamers in Japan.
Remember he didn't take over the series until Harmony of Dissonance.  I guess the GBA in Japan was still considered a toy skewed at younger kids.
It wasn't until the DS that Nintendo started the "blue-ocean"/casual gamer strategy.
When Harmony through Portrait failed to gain much traction in Japan IGA switched gears.

If you look at Rondo screenshots it has a more of western art stytle with a very old-school CV appeal to it.
In the west if SOTN was your first CV, you most likely never heard of Rondo unless you were a older hardcore gamer.
I guess Kojima is doing the artwork for Rondo, but it looks much different then her GBA/DS work.

Granted these facts don't let IGA off the hook for his comments about Nintendo.
He kinda reminds me a of milder David Jaffe.

I need take a shower in bleach.  Defending IGA is dirty business...
