TalkBack / RE:Miyamoto Discusses Zelda in Japan, Making Halo
« on: May 07, 2007, 08:40:24 PM »
That gut I'm not trying to insult you or your parents, but lets face it Nintendo has abandoned the hardcore demographic and replaced it with games whose gameplay was state of the art on the Atari 2600.  If an endless flow of mini-games is Nintendo's answer to "saving" the game industry I would much prefer to see it die then go on in this direction.

I know I'm the odd man out, but I everytime Nintendo opens it's mouth I get the idea they don't care about the hardcore gamer which supported them for 20 years.

General Gaming / RE:Interesting Read: MS and users resisting change
« on: May 07, 2007, 06:27:06 PM »
Users are to blame in MS's case.
As someone who works at a telecom company in Internet support I case safely say end users don't like change.
Even change for the better.

On a side note, one reason OS X rarely crashes is Jobs controls both the software and hardware end of things.
If MS did the same thing, Windows would never crash.

After reading that interview I got a lot of flashbacks of the "Jet Alone" episode of Evangelion.
Am I the only one?

The only thing that interview confirmed is Nintendo has a very Japan centric view of it's gaming business, nothing new there.

That guy, do you really Nintendo is going to save the video game world with it's endless flow of mini games?

General Gaming / RE:David Jaffe Goes Apeshit Crazy
« on: May 05, 2007, 03:55:31 PM »
Part of the reason Jaffe gets so much heat is when God of War was finished he gave a couple of interviews that made him sound like an a$$hat.
Since then he's lived up that persona and now it's come home to roost.  I don't ever remember Dennis Dyack acting like this when he posted here or when he still posts over at NeoGAF.

TalkBack / RE:Iwata Speaks at Financial Briefing Q&A
« on: May 03, 2007, 05:55:14 PM »
I'm glad to here that we are getting MP3 before end of 2007.
Downside, if Nintendo launches it in November as a Christmas title is will go against the full fury of Halo 3 and MGS 4,
thus suffering the same horrible fate that MP2 did.  I think Nintendo would do better by giving us MP3 in summer and
let Mario and Smash Bros do the heavy lifting during Christmas.

Why all the Ian bashing?  All did is say that non-gaming isn't as big in America as it is in Japan.
That's not a major revelation.

TalkBack / RE:Iwata on Nintendo's Financial Report
« on: April 28, 2007, 05:48:05 AM »
Some of those are games that will never be released.
Miyamoto has stated more then once Nintendo makes games that are just concept titles.

I feel really weird reading these numbers.
Does NOA or NOE have there own financial report or is this all regions wrapped into one?
This seems like a very Japan centric report.

TalkBack / RE:Don't Use Mod Chips, Says Nintendo UK
« on: April 24, 2007, 03:54:27 PM »
This article should be title "How Nintendo plans on giving Sony or Microsoft Europe".
Because if Nintendo's current policies hold, that's what is going to happen.

Maybe if Nintendo changed some of their policies there wouldn't be a need for a mod market in Europe.

General Gaming / RE:Fallout 3 buyout

Couldn't you pimp your wife in one of the Fallout games?

I've read some of the stuff you could do in Fallout, you couldn't do half that crap today.

General Chat / RE:My Name is Bruce
« on: April 21, 2007, 07:02:27 PM »
I expected to walk into this thread reading about an obscure 70's action spoof instead I get Bruce Campbell.
Oh well, is he a reasonable to talk to in real life?

111
How did this become a Mac vs PC thread? Oh well...

I said it before and I'll say it again, The 360 is MS's entry into the living room or all-in-one market.  Everyone in the consumers electronics industry is trying to do this.  The cable companies are doing this with there digital cable boxes, Apple is doing this with their iPod, AppleTV and iphone and the Japanese are doing this with their consoles.

To everyone who is purchasing a Mac, you are going from a horizontal monopoly to a vertical one.  Macs are great till you walk off the farm and do something Furher Jobs doesn't like.

About MS spending billions, how is a company suppose to break into the console market without money hats?  Someone please answer me that.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Final Fantasy XIII on the Wii (Speculation)
« on: April 18, 2007, 06:20:50 PM »
Well I guess it's time to bring everyone back to reality.
Here's a couple reasons why FF13 is not coming to the Wii.

1.)Bleeding edge graphics.
The FF series has always been known for bleeding edge graphics for any platform period.
The Wii can't even handle first gen PS3 graphics let only FF13.

2.)The game is being built on the "White Engine".  The White Engine is being built from the ground up for the PS3.
Don't expect Square-Enix to port it anytime soon now that they have UE3 onboard.

Nintendo might get a new FF13 spin off, but none of the current FF13 will ever see the light of day on Wii.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Miyamoto Checks Third Parties (Well, Sort Of)
« on: April 02, 2007, 06:35:08 PM »
How exactly are my comments trolling?

1.)Sony losing exclusives
Where are most of these exclusives going?  X360 last I checked.  Where are the Wii ports of VF5, DMC4, RE5, and Ace Combat?
Instead of these games we get Treasure Island Z and Nights.  While Nights could be good could it's done by the team that did Wii version of Sonic.  That doesn't inspire confidence in me.

2.)Dreamcast era graphics
Ok this was a little harsh.  There is no reason why developers are creating games that look worse then the stuff Factor 5 was pushing at the GC's launch.  I'm not expecting Gears of War, but there is no excuse for the crappy graphics that inhabit most of the Wii lineup.

3.)User created content.
While this is a niche, the X360 has the XNA program and the PS3 has Linux with C compilers.  For the first time since the Eighties homebrew is a reality on consoles.  Nintendo has a lone announcement in January about a homebrew program, nothing else.

While I realize my original comments could sound trollish, I see Nintendo slipping behind the curve again and pretending it's not happening.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Miyamoto Checks Third Parties (Well, Sort Of)
« on: March 31, 2007, 01:30:23 PM »
How about giving some "Money Hats" out Nintendo?

Nintendo stance towards third parties has improved, but Sony and MS is still far superior.
Even with it's recent screw ups Sony is still better at the 3rd party game then Sony.
Why should a company put a number #1 team on a Wii project if that same team put on an Xbox360 or PS3
project will make twice as much?

Look at most of the Wii's lineup, it's mini-games and kid games with graphics that barely make it past the Dreamcast era.
Third parties are looking at what's selling on the Wii and are acting accordingly.

Hear's another hint Nintendo, what about user created content?
Both Sony and MS have plans in place you're pretending these programs don't exist.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Official Wii Sales Thread
« on: March 30, 2007, 05:48:28 PM »
I agree the current Zelda gameplay is getting a little long in the tooth and the next Wii version does need to do something different.

I have to agree with Ian about the Wii.  Just look at the history of how the Wii came into existence.
I can't shake the nagging feeling that Nintendo's entire mindset was to retake Japan even if it ment losing
other markets.  The Wii is the epidome of Japanese "groupthink".

How many people know story behind "New Coca-Cola"?  Time for a history lesson in the next post.

I notice numbers for Zelda Wii are mentioned.  Does anyone have figures for the GC version of TP?

117
WTF is the big deal about this game?
I know others have said that, but I think it needs to be said again.

Having read the concept behind flow it's kinda interesting, but the game is fun for about 10 minutes kinda like Ico and SOC.
Oops... did I say that....

Nintendo Gaming / RE:MSX and NeoGeo coming to VC in Japan!
« on: February 23, 2007, 12:45:13 AM »
Neo-Geo = good.

MSX, still won't see any of these games outside of Japan.

On a side note, Microsoft was involved with the MSX.
It created the version of Basic that ran on it.

119
Didn't a japanese exec last week state that MP3 wasn't going online?  I wish I could find the interview.

Isn't Smash Bros suppose to go online?
It't wouldn't surprise me that Nintendo would gimp the online part of MP3 in order not to steal thunder from SSB:B.

Also the Metroid universe is ripe for expansion, look at the ending of Metroid Fusion.

TalkBack / RE:Super Smash Bros. Melee at Evolution 2007
« on: February 14, 2007, 01:34:12 PM »
Well it will be interesting to see what happens with this.  Certain characters excel at certain boards.  It sounds like EVO is trying to fit SSB:M into a SF2 style mold and I don't think it will really fit.

I guess it's my own personal gripe against the game itself and some of it's players.  I've been beaten by many a player on pure speed and reflexes only to watch those same people not last 2 matches against the computer in DOA.  I just wish many of the people who played SSM went on to play other fighting games.  They don't they just stay with SSB because their sorta good at it and don't want to lose or try something harder.

Oh well the entire fighting game community is fractured as hell.  One look over at SRK proves that.

SSBM at EVO?

Well I'll say this is a simpathy vote for the GC.
Every other AAA on the GC can be found on other consoles.

How are they going to do this?  SSBM is a fighting game for people
who can't play real fighting games.  Four player mode turns into a button mashing mess.

TalkBack / RE:Wii Online Dev Kits Released to Developers
« on: February 09, 2007, 01:39:31 PM »

About Reggie talking smack, do he really think MS is going to roll over for Nintendo?

Well Nintendo's streak with mini-games couldn't last forever.

I know this title did well in Japan, but how will it fair in the US?
I get the sinking feeling this game will sell only because people are looking for a second controller.

At least I have Fire Emblem to look forward too.
