I don't trust anything the government says because they are liers.

So do you trust the Iraqi goverment then?  If the U.S. goverment told us everything, we would have mass riots all over the country.  People can only handle so much info.  Like for instance, the cuban missile crisis.  We were within a couple of hours of Nuclear war, should they have told all of the world?  Of course not.  Panic stricken people running around thinking the world is coming to an end would be the last thing you want, as they would feel they have nothing to lose.

Point out to him the fact that both Halo and Halo 2 are coming out for computer, so you can own a Gamecube (SSBM and various other games beat the hell out of Halo anyway) and Halo and not pay all that money for an Xbox that'll suck.

Did that, and he just said 'Halo doesn't even have a release date yet'  He still couldn't tell me another exclusive worth owning, it all was Halo this and that.  Keep in mind, I wasn't busting his balls about liking the xbox more, I was asking him to defend his choice, which for some-odd reason , he couldn't.  It all started because I told him Nintendo has a lot of great games out or coming out   He said all the games, including Zelda, are 'only for people who like those types of games' and that 'Gamecube has action adventure games, and thats it'.  That is what brought the debate about.  He also said Metroid Prime was 'The most boring game he ever played'.  Did I mention , he is manager at our local gamestop?

Sorry for repeating, but I forgot my post from last night as I was a little tipsy

...is near. My friend has officially crossed the line.  here's what he said:  "The xbox is the best system because it has the best games."  When I asked him what they were, he said HALO is the best game ever.  I told him the reason I like NIN, because you can't play METROID, ZELDA, MARIO OR RE anywhere besides the GC.  He actually had the nerve to say that those games are for the people who like adventure games, but everyone else likes xbox.  Now, this dude used to like Nintendo .  What happened?  I asked him why Xbox and not GC, and he gave me 1 reason...HALO.  I then asked him what other games are good, but he didn't name one.  I pestered him for a good 2 hours, and all he kept saying is, if you like those kiddie games, then good luck.  He also works for GAMESPOT(manager), so maybe he is just brainwashed, I mean to not come up with more than 1 game is pretty ridiculous.   I came up with at least 5 exclusive games for the GC .  Why can't he face facts?   Am I wrong?

America is a blood thirsty war machine?  Did you know that we're the only SUPER POWER in history to not overtake a country?  History..... every other power has...if we were really blood thirsty, we would own half the world...you think i'm b.s. ing?  Look through your history books, and see, we are the least aggressive power ....ever..

Nintendo Gaming / I am a 31 year old new GC owner
« on: March 29, 2003, 08:53:39 AM »
I'm another of those old gamers, 29 to be exact.  It's funny, as we all started the same way-Atari 2600 to NES.  I also had Colecovision in between them.  I've had Nintendo systems ever since '85, and have enjoyed every one of 'em. I've strayed once , bought a Turbo Grafix-16(ugh) , but only Nintendo makes games that can make you smile the whole time you play them, something i'm realizing once again with the Wind Waker.  I'm liking this thread, lets keep it going.

General Chat / New Metallica Album: St. Anger *UPDATE*
« on: March 29, 2003, 04:33:09 AM »
Definately cool on Metallica's part.  And anyone who thinks they're a greedy bunch, obviously doesn't remember the 80's, where they sold oodles of records without releasing any singles or videos, until 'ONE'.  They got their respect the old fashioned way, through constant touring and hard work.  They release an album once every 3 or 4 years, so I think if they wanted to, they could release all kinds of filler in between, like 'live at donnington' or sh!t like that.  Like what Iron Maiden does, who I love also.

nba 2k3, hands down for simulation.  However, with friends we often play nba live 2003 or nba street.  NBA 2k3 is great if you really want to get down and dirty into some real basketball.

I'm a fanboy because I only buy Nintendo systems.  But you know what?  I've been satisfied with every system, even the N64.  It had a limited lineup, but a good percentage of great games.  I don't bash other systems for the most part, just mess around with xbox fans.  But I play all systems, and like alot of other games on those systems, but none as much as my NIN games.  Did that make any sense?

Oh, come on you 'gamers!' I hope ya'll aren't calling dragon's roost island difficult; I hope there is another 'first dungeon' being referred to.

Didn't say it was a hard dungeon, just HARDER than expected do to all the complaining going on.  Is it a hard game?  Not at all.  But it isn't Shrek , either.  It has a moderate amount of difficulty so far.

Something I don't really understand is why so many people are saying this game is too easy. To me the first dungeon was pretty damn challenging and that was just the first dungeon.

I totally agree!  As I was playing through the first dungeon, I did get stuck a couple of times.  I didn't die, or anything, but it's not as easy as i had been hearing.  And the dungeons are huge!.  This game is Zelda perfected.  I can't stop smiling the whole time i'm playing.  Ahhh, to be 13 again and buying the first Zelda....(Tidbit:  TLOZ was the first NES game to be 39.99..I'll never forget when my mom said...WHAT!!!?)

Nostalgia just runs ramoant while I play this game....oh well, I don't want to torture anybody, so off I go.....TO PLAY THE W.W.!!!!

I'm not privy to any substanstial studies or analysis of gamging population, but I wonder if the GameCube's consumer base is more or less split between the really young and older gamers while the other consoles squarely have their peak somewhere in the middle with the 13-17 year olds.

I believe there was a report that said Nintendo was missing out on the teen audience, but had older and younger gamers covered.  So you'd be correct.  The problem is, if you weren't a Nin fan growing up, and your now 13-17, you probably would not buy a Nin system.  Plus, that age is the most into 'looking cool', and all that other crap, so it'll be a tough road to hoe for Nin.  I think if they get exclusivity deals with some major 3rd party games, that all could change.  In fact, the EA' agreement ' is a great step in the right direction.

I think you will see it's the quality of ports that really upsets Nintendo supporters.  Like Baldurs Gate , for instance.  Getting Splinter Cell later than even the ps2 , would be even more dis-heartening, if not for it being an improved port.  So I think it will sell really well.  Ports don't sell well because they've been crap.  As far as XGRA, it's Acclaim, and they basically suck with the majority of their titles, so don't be surprised when they are not respected.

EB opened at midnight  and let gamers get their greedy little mits on Zelda a bit early(in Jersey at least).  There were around 20 people there when I left.  I've just spent about an hour and a half with it so far, and it is incredible.

So?  Do you have copyright to it?  I can't spend every minute in this god-forsaken forum making sure I don't start a thread someone else already has.  I hope I didn't enrage anyone by posting this topic, a mere 5 days after the originator did.

Nintendo Gaming / Mario Golf release date

It will be July 28th, here in the U.S.  That is good to hear.  I wasn't expecting it so soon.  However,
F-zero is now officially slated for August 25th, which kind of sucks.  Wario World is June 23rd, I believe.  Plus alot of great releases in the next 2 months.  It's going to be an expensive year.

Well i think the only people that play sports games are people who are too fat or unskilled to be able to kick a football in real life, i play sport all the time, which is why i dont need sports games

That is pretty funny. considering ton's of PRO athletes play ALL the sports games ALL the time.

I have Madden2003, Knockout kings, NBA live 2003, Tiger Woods and Nhl 2k3.  I've always enjoyed EA sports and I am one of the dopes who buys the Madden 'upgrades' every august/sept.  But I also have about 8 non-sports titles, so my game collection is well rounded.  In my opinion, theres nothing better than playing Madden with a bunch of your friends in franchise mode.

Reviews are like toilet paper.  Some are soft and cuddly, some are coarse and harsh, and at the end of the day, it matters not, because they are not used for anything else.
