This just shows how people can get stupid and negligent then they try to sue Nintendo due to their negligence. And Nintendo can simply say that each game has a screen that shows how to properly fasten the wii remote strap. So it still is technically the customer's fault that they aren't following the safety warning instructions.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:F.E.A.R for Wii?
« on: December 18, 2006, 06:37:32 AM »
I just love how a lot of people hate Red Steel just because it didn't live up to all of the expectations people brought it up to be. Anyways back to the topic, I highly doubt  F.E.A.R. will make it on the Wii if it would, it would be downgraded graphically quite significantly. But I think Monolith can keep the AI in tact and the gameplay tight. I think FPS developers should wait until Nintendo fleshes out the servers for games.

Is your usb cable inserted in the right usb port. I know that sounds funny, but my computer has two usb ports on the front, but for some reason some things only work when they are in a certain port.

That usually only happens if the device makes you make do a virtual port.

Shameless port is sooo last gen. Oddly enough EA,Ubi and Activision(to an extent) where the worst offenders and it looks like that might still hold true. But hey if people who have no clue about games will buy these games sadly more shovelware will come.

Considering the Gamecube got the whole main series (despite 2,3,CV being direct ports) I agree.

I think the Wii version is good despite it being flawed in a lot of areas. And sadly it does feel like a port rush job with graphics ever so slightly better than PS2/Xbox/PSP versions. But never-the-less the multiplayer can be fun but the menu systems are just too awkward for their own good. And the nunchuk controlled camera is a blessing and a curse; on one hand you dont need to move your hand from any buttons to a second analog stick like the other versions(PSP doesn't apply obviously) so you can still concentrate on the action while on the other hand it can be a problem if you dont like holding the nunchuk fairly straight.

Each Virtual console game makes a suspend point whenever you quit the game via the home menu, reboot the system or turn off the system.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:DDR for Wii?
« on: December 15, 2006, 07:29:59 AM »
I think I got the perfect idea. Use the gamecube ports for the Wii DDR this will be much better since it will make DDR mario mix people happy, Konami and Nintendo happy since all they have to do on the Wii DDR pads is switch Start to + and Z to - (or keep it Z) and keep the gamecube pads functionally the same. Then there should be your normal modes with X ammount of scaling difficulties. The second mode it would be DDR pads + Wii remote(s) to enhance the dancing aspect of the game.  And mini game modes that strictly DDR mats, Wii remotes or even both.

And for the lazy gamers who kills the DDR aspects and just uses a standard controller to play DDR you can use the analog stick on Nunchuk and Dpad on the Wii remote or a classic controller or gamecube controller.

Because games require a bigger budget and there aren't enough of us that bitches about these things. Well atleast the gamecube controller works minus the Dpad which is sort of stupid.

I really won't be surprised if Konami decides to makes a Para Para Paradise or a Dance Maniax but I really want to see how a Dance Maniax game would work on the Wii since theres a 2 upper and 2 lower sensors.

I think Konami could go the easy way arround and just use a gamecube or USB port for DDR pads and companies can do the same for stuff like a guitar or what not and since that racing game that uses the bongos was moved to the Wii I won't be surprised if that would happen.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Official "Virtual Console Mondays" Thread

I think its the philosophy that if Nintendo releases 3 - 5 games every week theres a higher chance of gamers buying roughly 2 - 3 of those games rather than Nintendo releasing like 10 - 15 games a week and like about 10 - 12 of those games would be largely ignored and passed on. I guess Nintendo is just saving the big guns for shortages and giving games that can be considered niche a new breath of air especially since a lot of people never knew what the turbografx is.

My 360 is doing fine and I had one since June I just get a occasional disc read error but it was a far less occurance than the disc read errors I got on the PS2. Its in the verticle position and theres little scratches on my discs, I think people forget that every disc based system scratches discs due to wear and tear people are just paranoid.

2.) overheating seems to be an issue early on, have they done anything since launch to correct problems or to remedy heating (or other) issues? I have seen some attachment devices such as cooling units and things ...are these recomended? Does anyone buy these, or are they cash-in gimmick item(s)? I can NOT spend $400 on a malfunction!!

Microsoft is now using a processor that produces less heat. And don't bother with those external fans that you can buy for 19.99 they seem to cause more problems than solving any. Just put your 360 in a place thats well ventillated.

3.) The premium package seems to have everything I need, but are there other expenses and things I have overlooked?

Xbox live subscription, XBLA games and microtransaction purchases if you plan on those, if your planning on connecting to XBL wirelessly a wireless adapter which costs 99.99 . And if you want to play HD-DVDs the external attachment is 199.99 but thats completely optional.

et me say this. All MS 1st party games and most of the big 3rd partygames will ALL eventually get ported to PC. If you are really worried about relaibality maybe you should consider getting a good video card and decent RAM and just get your HD fix that way.

Thats about 80% false and 20% true, its obvious that microsoft is pushing cross platform availability (most 360 accessories compatible with PC accessories) and some xbox/360 games will end up on the PC but most of them takes years for that transition to happen and to a point where people just won't care for the 1 - 3 year late PC port. But the games that similtaneously launch on 360 and PC, you need a good and sometimes expensive PC rig that it will be much cheaper just to get the 360 version.

Atleast it isnt as bad as that 6:30 (m/ss) loading time that smackdown vs raw 2006 on PSP has.

TalkBack / RE:EB/GameStop Offering Import DS Games
« on: December 12, 2006, 04:52:55 PM »
Luckily the independant game store on my route of going home offers import games at 25.99 - 69.99 at the  price range. And these games can be anything from GBA to X360. The store prices it 5 dollars more than the distributor charges them for the game itself so its not that bad at all considering the japanese games are considered custom ordered.

The import games EB/GS offers now is very sparse considering I just got jump for 49.99 and after 3.5% tax it was 51.74 which is much cheaper, faster and conveniant for me vs some place like play-asia.

Its not that strange considering the publisher for Q? is primarily Buena Vista now and Buena Vista is Disney's publishing arm.

General Gaming / RE:Microsoft Class Action Lawsuit

Well Microsoft obviously wants to lock down modders on the 360 since look how strict they have been  against modders on the original Xbox. I bet Microsoft would force people to pay for shipping if their X360 was modded and not if their X360 is legit. I still think its sad on the ammount of how much people sue in America, since a lot of people sue for the most miniscule things.

I just like the fact that some of you didn't realize that since its only playable as a PSP form these games on Sony's service will also have a neutered control scheme since theres no 2nd analog stick or a set of L2,R2,L3,R3 (L3 and R3 are the analog stick clicks).

3745
As it seems how Sony is supposedly pissing off 2D RPG makers I hope Nippon Ichi, Atlus(more support from them is always nice), and maybe even Gaijinworks(once they start doing something) will fill a nice niche market some of us Nintendo fans are liking that the DS is getting. And I want to see more Japanese Dev support since as odd as it sounds Nintendo almost practically got the Western developer support nailed down.

General Gaming / PS3's PSone store
« on: December 05, 2006, 01:55:47 AM »
The first batch of PS1 titles is currently avaible for the North American market.

The current titles are:

# Cool Boarders - $5.99
# Crash Bandicoot - $5.99
# Hot Shots Golf 2 - $5.99
# Syphon Filter - $5.99
# Tekken 2 -$5.99

A PlayStation 3 is currently required to download these titles in order to play them on a PSP.

Even though the price may seem good for a PS1 game here are the drawbacks:
1. Gimped control scheme since....
2. It's only playable on PSP (for now) so these downloads are useless if you don't have a PSP
3. Not playable on PS3 (for now)
4. No multiplayer which is BS especially for stuff like Tekken 2.
5.  The game download sizes are approx. 125MB - 700MB so the games will eat away memory sticks fast.
6.  Games get locked after being sent to 5 different PSPs or 5 different times (Sony didnt elaborate on this one)

My problem with the series is that the game is a big one trick pony so the sequel won't probably be played that long.

Yeah Nintendo totally scored on those two I still cant believe that the Wii only requires 17 watts to run (with a game) while 360 needs about 147 watts which is a huge and drastic difference.

Well while the online is free I am sure Sony is going to push the notion of micro transactions and PSone downloads.

Well the the licensed thing is more than expected since VC games are under DRMs and I can only assume Sony and Microsoft are doing something similar in their services where the titles are licensed to you.
