General Gaming / RE:It's official. PS3 is made of fail.
« on: January 05, 2007, 03:18:37 AM »
Well it would be easy enough just to keep the multiplayer Quake styled with a bunch of options from Prime Hunters and  everyone will pretty much like it. Add the grapple beam to the mix for some interesting mechanic. My only concern is that they use the 2d Metroid beam stacking system so I don't know how Retro will work around that if there is a multiplayer mode. Also Nintendo should consider releasing a USB or Bluetooth headset.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Media streaming from a PC to Wii
« on: January 05, 2007, 02:32:07 AM »
It really does depend on your internet connection so if you do have a slow DSL connection then there are going to be buffer issues. Its also failing to pick up any movies as well so I'll check into that when I have some time. And yeah the program is sort of  a system hog. But Orb does look like a pretty decent alternative to a windows media center connect set up (unless your using a Zune and/or 360 then windows media connect is still worth it).

Okay I tested it and for a free service its very solid but there are some hitches. You are limited by the limitations of the Wii's browser and the only thing you can't stream to the Wii are documents and anything requiring a windows media player, real player however I didn't get a chance to try a quicktime movie so I can't comment on that. I had no problem with pictures and didn't try video yet. Music there are no big issues with it but I would not recommend you using the shuffle function since the buffering time for it is unbearable, and since your stuck with the browsers limitations you can't multi-task at all hopefully there will be tabbed browsing to enable multitasking. I had no problems with the internet TV on my Wii but the buffer times are insane so it wasn't worth it to me. Also the menu that you will see on your PC is not the same as the one you will see on your Wii browser you will get a much simplified version thats functional but bland. Maybe orb will set up a special Wii browser section, who knows.

And like Orb's site says you can use the software to stream files to others in your network or make a small community and share files with one another.  I wonder if here at NWR a community of some sort will spawn off. So while it may seem a little rough in the beginning the potential for this is amazing and lets not forget that this isn't limited just for the Wii but it also lets you share things with your network or a user community.

Well guys if your dissappointed with the media feature shortcommings on Wii, Orb Networks has offered a fix for us and all you need on your PC is Orb 2.0 installed and on your Wii the Opera browser.

http://wii.ign.com/articles/753/753105p1.html   Here is IGN's article about it.

http://orb.com/getorb2/ Link to download Orb 2.0

And even though Orb Networks is targeting this to help Wii's capabilities it also help you stream stuff to other things on your network. I think its amazing how Wii just came out in a few months, has no online game servers up and yet 3rd party software makers are indirectly helping out Wii.

EDIT: Im testing it now and I will post later with the results.

Well I highly doubt anyone here can speak, read, write in Norweigian and plus considering that this site's  user base is mainly from the Americas, UK, Central Europe and Australia I stand by my assumption firmly. And why did you nitpick me on that in the first place?

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Is Blockbuster Wiitarded . . . .
« on: January 04, 2007, 02:05:21 AM »
Blockbuster online/total access has been out for a good 2 months now its just that Blockbuster corp has started spamming commercials about it now. And I remember that in the month of December the Blockbuster stores accepted Netflix mailers so customers could exchange them for free rentals but the catch was they had to cancel the Netflix account on the store's laptop and make a Blockbuster Total Access account (online). And for Blockbuster Total Access right now its movies only but I hope it will be extended to games in the future.

Who knows Im still bummed out that blockbusters aren't renting out any GBA and DS games. And the reason why Wii games are stuck all the way next to the gamecube section is because each store essentially has to pair console brands together so the PS3 section will be next to the PS2 and PSP sections, the 360 section will be next to the xbox and the wii will be next to the gamecube section. And when I was talking about the hefty section of the Wii section at the blockbuster I work at we have about every Wii game thats available (except for Wii sports since thats a auto include in every Wii).

Hmm odd at the Blockbuster I work at our Wii section is hefty, its located after the Xbox section and right before the Gamecube section.  Our PS3 section is very small and its located before the PSP section, people barely rent out any PS3 games but the a lot of people are renting out Wii games. For what games blockbuster has it really depends on the location since if you have any experiance working for any franchise you will learn that not every store will get a fair share of distributed games, movies or ect.

A WoW player from norway got a Wii remote and a nunchuk to work with WoW.

EDIT: http://axemen.org/ The creator of the video has his own website with a tutorial how to set it up.

"Nintendo is just a bunch of greedy Japanses businesmen and they want to rip you off for as much as possible. I can't belive you guys have this loyalty to them that you consider a natural undermining of their artifical constraints to be stealing. Thats such crap, and I can't believe you guys have been duped into thinking that you owe Nintendo (or any other corporation) anything. "

Do you think any company is any different whats a company to live off if they didn't have any profit margins? At this rate im surprised that no one is bitching about how microsoft forces you to buy 1000 points, 2000 points or ect  (1000 MS points = 12.50) and you will always have points conveniently left over but enough to buy pointless crap like game pictures or themes. Or how Sony is making you buy PSone games on a PS3 then your forced to transfer it to a PSP just so you can play your 7.99 PSone purchase.

I just snatched the last black zune in my local best buy (its much more popular than white or brown surprise surpise) and it works pretty well and the software while it is a little slow installing since it has to update itself during installation it works well and the drag and drop interface for adding stuff to your zune is a good idea to make the software idiot proof. And the zune itself while its bulkier than a Ipod (needs a wireless NIC, FM tuner, bigger screen assembly, and the antennas for the FM tuner and WiFi) Zune does not attract any fingerprints(except the screen) and the system itself seems sturdy and very durable. I would recommend it if you were looking for an Ipod alternative.
The only problem with the Zune software is right now its XP only.

Its not evan probably made a mistake. All SNES and N64 games require a cube or a classic controller.

It was a budget title on Xbox and the only difference is the controls and the steering wheel attachment for 20 - 30 dollars more.

It may not be as frantic as wario ware, the mini games are deeper than wario ware in some cases. And there is a big comedy value in both games.

Wii Sports, Rayman Raving Rabbids, some of the mini games in Super Monkey Ball BB, the co-op in marvel ultimate alliance is pretty decent, the co-op in metal slug is always amazing.

" The worst part about me waiting for a Wii? By the time I get one there were will be far too much games to play...That can be both a good and a bad thing. "

That already is happening to me when I bought 6 games at launch and I bought Metal Slug, FF: III and Blaze Wii component cables (19.99) on my birthday with was 12/21.

« on: December 23, 2006, 06:24:44 AM »
It is true that sending stuff through wiiconnect24 isn't instantaneous since your message has to go through Nintendo's servers and then it will go to your destination so it might take less than 3 min. to get the message to the destination or  it all depends if Nintendo's servers are busy.

Considering that the Gamecube is getting a version its weird that the Xbox and PS3 aren't getting a version.
