Nintendo Gaming / Forgetting the "older" generation of Gamers?
« on: June 22, 2003, 01:02:59 PM »
Super Monkey Ball was NOT easy. If you beat it on expert mode, you are SERIOUSLY too good at games.

Mario Sunshine was great, challenging, but not impossible.

Sounds to me like the problem isn't the games, but you. You'd want impossible games that a nomral person can't enjoy. I suggest you get Tetris or somehting.

Nintendo Gaming / Quality to come, but what about now?

Yes, 21 games is sad. That's a lot of games! Do you realize that is over $1000 worth of games? Find me 21 worthwhile XBOX games to own! Heck, even PS2 doesn't have 21 brilliant games. The N64 certainly didn't 2 years into its lifespan.

What do you think of Sunshine's difficulty? Surely that wasn't too easy! I agree Zelda was, but I think it was more a programming overlook than intentional. They just didn't balance the game well. I almost wish they'd delayed it til Christmas.

Metroid Prime wasn't easy, and you can try hard mode. Pikmin wasn't overly easy either. Eternal Darkness is a great challenge on the higher difficulty modes. Super Monkey Ball/2 is as cute as they come, but you can't tell me it is easy.

The only easy game is really Zelda, and that's hardly a crime. Maybe you're just too good for modern video games? And honestly, when was the last time you played a HARD Square game? Their games aren't hard at all if you level up enough, but no one complains...

As for Mario Kart...it's Mario Kart. Why would that be easier?!

I have 9 games and I have plenty to play! Read a book...get out of the house...do something. 21 games and you've beaten most of them is just...sad!

Well, I have mixed feelings. I feel pretty much exactly like PGC's review tells it.

Here in Canada, all reduced price games (PS2, XBOX and GCN) are the same.

While I wouldn't cut my nose off despite my face and stop buying Nokia products, I agree this comment was enraging. But let's think of it this way: The N-Gage will never sell 10-systems a minute. Never. And 10 year olds don't buy that many systems. It was a very unprofessional comment, and I'm disappointed in them.

Nintendo Gaming / Mario Party 4 or Super Monkey Ball 2???

I'd go with SMB2. Mario Party 5 is coming out eventually. Plus, SMB is one of the best multiplayer gaems ever!

Weird article. Seems rather poorly written too. PGC just spoils us in quality.

They do work in some areas. DVD movies is one. The Wily Wonka DVD was released in Widescreen only after a petition requesting it was formed. An ONLINE petition.

The US is our only neighbor, and frankly, going there should be cheaper. I wouldn't mind seeing them have to pay 75 cents for 1 dollar canadian though!

Let me get this straight..... you are saying that this is a good time for Canadians? Our Currancy is worth less than the US Dollar, so technically, if you went down to the States t buy something, you will be paying more. If it's worth around 75 cents US, then when you head down to the US to buy something that is $1 US, if you were to give them Canadian money, you would have to pay them $1.25 to compisate the differance, because the Canadian Dollar is only 75 Cents. If it was a bargan for anybody, it's for the US to come here and buy, which a lot do, because their money is worth more up here.

So in other words, if someone from the US came up to Canada and bought something that was $1 Canadian, they'd just have to pay 75 Cents. Last year, you might have noticed a lot of US Torrists in Canada, during the Summer time and such, because our dollar was only worth 63 Cents at that time. (Obviously almost half the value) Our money is rising though...... but it's sure as hell still not a bargan for us to go to the US to buy something.

Also, if you went on Ebay, and bought something from someone in the US for $100, you would not only have to pay $125 in exchange, but then you also have to pay for shipping fees and al the other crap you have to deal with, with getting over the border, and my dad does that a lot, cuz he's a big War Collector and such, so I hear about it all the time.

If you wanted a bargan, where the Canadian Dollar is worth something, go to Asia. I know that in Europe, the Pound is worth almost twice our money. Where 1000 pounds is almost $2000 (I don't know the details of Pounds to Dollars, so correct me if I am wrong.)

When I can get a $79.99CDN item for for $50US, that's a deal. Before, that $50 would be $70CDN, and by time you shipped that would be a ripoff. Now, it's about $65CDN, which makes it cheaper. It's a deal. Don't tell me about my own eBay pirchases...

And yeah, all the games SatanNemesis mentioned need to be there.

They don't really. Mario Kart was the #1 selling game for the N64, so from a business standpoint they don't. But it wouldn't hurt for us fans!

The point of Animal Crossing is collection, that's the POINT. If you dislike that, you'll dislike AC. Not everyone likes everygame, doesn't mean it's boring, you just dislike it.

Nintendo Gaming / Price Cost of "Connecting" Games
« on: May 14, 2003, 12:47:36 PM »
Looking at Tetra's Trackers, Four Swords, Pac Man, etc, I think they all look fun. And I might buy them. But I am NOT paying full price. No way, never. Not when you need 4 gbas. So, will Nintendo INSANELY sell these hardly-GCN games for full price? Or might we seem them at 29.99? Or 39.99 with a GBA-GCN cable? I'd buy them for 39.99 Canadian, but not 69.99. What do you think?

RPG requires stats which you can level up and build upon. That doesn't include weapon upgrades or items. Zelda does not have stats building (simply more arrows, life, magic, etc.). Dragon Warrior has stats, similar to the traditional pen and paper RPGs. It doesn't have to be turn based, but your character must be customizeable and statistical.

Nintendo Gaming / What do you think of IGN's Top 100 games ever?

I can't believe no Super Mario Bros. 3 (Mario World AND Yoshi's Island, but no Bros. 3!?!?!), FF2 over the FAR superior 3, and no FF7? It's a decent list, but it's extremely...unpolished.

Not funny at all. The GCN is higher than the XBOX so why would Mario standing on the XBOX make him feel taller?
