It's for GBA.  Click on the title of the game at the top of the screen.  It will show you this screen that gives the game's details.

Given how much Lovecraft hated games, he should be turning over in his grave right now.    It seems we are getting an Eternal Darkness inspired PC game that is more true to the original Lovecraft stories.

It looks pretty interesting to me.  I am curious if they can do a better job than SK.  The project seems ambitious enough, but I am wondering if they can actually pull it off, or if it will be a letdown of collosal proportions when it comes out.  I am not too fond of PC games (especially not first person ones), so I am not really expecting much right now.  But I will be keeping an eye on it.

If Shigeru Miyamoto and Hideo Kojima are involved, then I think it's going to be quite a bit different. I doubt either of the two would involve themselves in something so cheap. It doesn't make sense..

Hate to break it to you, but it IS a simple remake.  They are redoing some of the key scenes, but the game is still the same game.  I am sure that the fight with Psycho Mantis will be changed around like crazy, it looks like some new dialog is added, and the graphics have gotten a huge boost, but really, it's the same game.

THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT!  As it stands, MGS is one of the greatest games I have ever played.  I am THRILLED with the idea of a remake.

And for the record, the Twin Snakes trailer totally kicked the crap out of the MGS3 one. It was a lot more exciting to watch. It was fun to watch, and really made me happy.

Metal Gear Solid 3's trailer just made me laugh a little. It was impressive, but it was too short and didn't tell me much about the game.

I haven't seen the 12 minute MGS3 trailer yet, but I thought the teaser for it rocked.  It was very reminiscent of Metal Gear 1 & 2, which is a very good thing.  It made me nostalgic, and it was very well done.  The MGS trailer was interesting, but they didn't show enough gameplay footage to really do the job for me.  It was concentrating far too much on the NGC theme.    Besides, there wasn't anything in there I hadn't already seen before.  I really wish they would have shown a bit of Sniper Wolf... although I AM very happy that they featured a lot of Grey Fox!

I CANNOT wait to see the Sniper Wolf scenes on the GameCube version...

Nintendo Gaming / resident evil 4 footage

Kraven, it will probably be on a single disc.  3D objects don't generally take as much space as 2D ones.    As long as Capcom doesn't go FMV crazy, a single disc should be fine.  The reason Resident Evils 0 & 1 were on two discs is because essentially every background in the game was composed of many still images.  (FMV)

Hey Kirby, did you get to play MGS: TS at all?  What was the music and sound like?  I know it's hard to hear with that many people around, but was the voice acting and music the same as in the PSX version?

Heh.  I got the directfeed MGS: TS trailer in 30 minutes from Games Radar.    I can wait for the MGS3 trailer from Konami's website I think.  I just need the directfeed Resident Evil 4, and Killer7 movies I think.

The textures are pretty bad, but the game itself does not look as bad as the PSX version in ANY way.  With a texture overhaul, and some FSAA, then it would be up to MGS2 standards in no time.

I haven't seen the full trailer for MGS3 yet, but the still shots that are everywhere... kind of make me go eeewww... at times.  Some of the textures in MGS3 just plain suck, and are much worse than the worst in MGS: TS.  The first teaser that was leaked just made me go WOW! but it could have been the low quality of the movie that did it.  The still shots don't look nearly as good.

General Gaming / Any Info on the Sony PS Handheld?
« on: May 14, 2003, 08:11:54 PM »
yellowfellow has it right.

But I wonder how cool a Game Gear reborn would be among people.  I don't think that this new system from Sony is going to be portable at all, and I don't think it will be cheap at all.  Those two factors are HUGE in determining the success of a handheld.

The GameGear was technically superior to the GB by far.  The Nomad was even better.  It was a handheld that would play Genesis carts 10 years before the GBA was released.  Yet both systems bombed like hell because they would consume more power than a 1950s computer, and were too bulky to be portable.

It goes without saying that it's going to be bigger than the GBA.  At this point in time, the GBA is a little on the big side for me, and will often get left at home.  Also, I will sometimes leave it at home if I am going to be doing some stuff that involves beating up the stuff in my backpack.  If your games are on an optical disc, kiss them goodbye.  My carts have been through hell and back, and it's demanded of a portable system.

And let's also remember that Nintendo is really pushing GBA-GCN connectivity.  What do you think the odds are that the new GameBoy will launch alongside the GameCube's successor in early 2005?

Yeah, I retracted my earlier comment when I saw the video for myself.  It was clear that I had misread PGC's spoiler free impressions when they were discussing THAT scene.

Heh.  Replace Zelda with Pokemon Ruby, and that's my list right there, as well as my reason for not having them.    I also have to check out Burnout 2 at some point though.

I haven't seen it anywhere.  I was also looking for it earlier.  I don't think it's out yet to tell you the truth.

There was another game whose trailer I couldn't find earlier as well... I can't remember what it was though...

General Gaming / Metal Gear
« on: May 14, 2003, 07:25:09 PM »
It's currently underway for the PC.  So far I have the sprite engine up and running, and I have begun work on the tile engine.

Anyways, I am here asking if anyone wants to beta test the game for me?  It will get a public release at version 1.0 (It's at 0.1 right now), but I would like one or two beta testers to check and see if the code will run on their computers at the various milestones, and let me know if there are any mistakes I made.  I would prefer people who have played the original Metal Gear games, as that's the feel I am going for.

I get Silent Hill 3 PC in August...  along with Harvest Moon and Soul Calibur II.

Phew... looks like Nintendo is giving me a few months to catch up on the backlog of games that I want.

Nintendo Gaming / Where is "Game Zero"

Fear was a RUMOR.  It DOES NOT EXIST in any way, shape or form.

Still 2 days left for E3.  I am sure that Game Zero will turn up at some point.

#2 is hogwash.  That's all I'll say on that one.  I am a programmer.  I program video games in my free time.  ALL cinematics are pre-determined by the programmers, ok?  That's what a cinematic is.

Anyways, I guess E3 is about over for the day.  I have a CDR full of stuff, and I am going to go home and play some Aerobiz Supersonic, or program my Metal Gear game some more.  later.

Alright fine, you make a good point...  I don't know what I would give it to then.  MGS: TS looks nice, but I don't think I can give it to a remake in good conscience...  Star Fox maybe?

Nintendo Gaming / Soul Calibur 2 Artwork - Next Gen Cel-shading?
« on: May 14, 2003, 01:08:20 PM »
I too would love to see Adult Link represented in that style.  Although I don't think that Professional got his definition of Cel Shading down pat, he is correct that that level of stuff would be insanely difficult to do via cel shading.  In the realm of possibility maybe... but I still don't think it would look that good.

Nintendo Gaming / Star Fox
« on: May 14, 2003, 01:02:47 PM »
Well, I didn't get any sound with the video (public computer, but I brought a CDR with me today), but what I saw looked very cool to me.  Not really goofy, (probably my lack of sound), but lots of intense Star Fox action, with a new glowing engine effect that made for a very cool end-of-level cinematic.

Also, it seems that Nintendo managed to steal Krystal from Rare.  Interesting.

Hey, I agree with you completely.  I have been trying to keep away from such threads, but I did comment in two of them today to keep such people from spouting off.  The rest of my time today has been spent downloading E3 trailers, or just hyping the games I have seen.

Hell, I think that Game of the Show should go to Metal Gear Solid 3, yet I don't even care that it's not on GameCube, as I have plenty of GameCube games to keep me busy, including our own exclusive Metal Gear game that I have a guarantee on that says it won't suck.    It's really weird that I feel that way, but I think it might have something to do with the almost 100% certainty I have that it will be one day coming to PC...
