Nintendo Gaming / OFFICIAL Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes Discussion

I'm guessing it's an exclusive remake since a Nintendo owned company is doing the port.

Port. That's an ugly word.

Allright, but what do we have after these games? I would have thought that Square would have annouced 1001 GBA games by now.

Plus my calendar in Animal Crossing doesn't seem to go past March 2004...

That could be because it only shows 12 months at a time. Check tomorrow (May 1st) and see if it goes to 2005. I doubt Nintendo put a end date on the game.

Finally is right! I hope it's compatible with all games. I have some small SD Cards that aren't getting any use. Please release this in the US!

Good luck making this one happen. The "sport" is so unfairly balanced in the books/movies that I doubt anyone would want to play as anything other than the seeker. Should call it "Seeker vs. Seeker".

I'll pass, just like the Vikings.

I don't know if I can stomach all that 80's crap in Vice City.

For the record, the 80's aren't crap. I had to live through every second of that decade.

Sorta sounds like PSO III is the PS Card game we saw a while back.

Sonic going multi-platform: doh!

Wow, so glad NBA2K4, with online play, is not coming to Gamecube. One less game for me to buy this year. Punks.

Is it just me, or does this sorta look like the Donkey Kong racing game a little? Didn't each player have custom vehicles in that game? Maybe the two joined together, or the Mario Kart team took all the good ideas once Rare went to the dark side.

Awesome, just wish it supported internet play out of the box (err, case, Cube, etc...)

Dude, that was all luck. I was just dreaming about how to do it. Maybe I should make obscure GBA peripherals

Much like Zelda games, you have to get all three peices of the Triforce. Sega/Namco now have two. Nintendo has the third. It would be ironic if Sega/Namco merged again with Nintendo. Then Nintendo would have the complete triforce and could fight Ganon (Sony?).

Uh, the other day we had Beach Soccer. Today it's URBAN FREESTYLE STREET SOCCER. Wow.

I must say that Street Soccer, even when freestyled, sucks. The road rash just isn't worth it. Now, Street Kickball is a game idea! I should make games. There is no way that wouldn't sell.

Nintendo Gaming / Nyko Play Cube (playing PS2 controller on GameCube)!
« on: April 16, 2003, 04:13:02 AM »
I bought two a long while back for some 4-player SSB. It was cheaper then paying (then) $35 each for two controllers that would rarely be used.

Being said, some of my PS2 lovin' friends actually preferred the PS2 controller to the GC for SSB. Fools!

The button mapping is a little questionable, though.

Uh, I hope this isn't a remake/rework of the ill-fated N64 Mother 3. That would have been easier to move UP to the GC and not DOWN to the GBA. It may be a all new version.

Ah, rework. Twice as fun the second time.

more than anything i suspect Microsoft will pump a lot of money into Rare so they get their games done faster. maybe more programmers or maybe more something. i'm not sure.

More programmers doesn't always mean faster development. I'll atest to that. And I'll borrow the "too many chefs have their hand in the kettle" cliche.

Just a random example, if it took 10 programmers a year, it might take 30 programmers half a year. There is a point of diminishing return.

Not a bad idea! No reason a person couldn't be a second or third shell. But then you'd lose the Billy's of the world. The people who cave in and buy a special edition system just because "it's cool".

A few companies sold "stickers" for various consoles. That is a terrible idea. I remember som horrible ones for the PS2.

Mario Sunshine and Mario Party 4 only sold 600K-700K (according to Magic Box). The only million plus in Japan for the cube is Smash Brothers. Sadly, this sounds about right for Zelda. I expect it to peak around 750K for the year (in Japan).

Nintendo Gaming / DVD GBA

Nintendo could release a GBA SD Card adapter (they won't, but let's dream) with built in video playback. SD Cards are quickly approaching 1Gig (currently 1/2). Sure they are expensive, but we are dreaming (and costs will come down). A full length movie for the GBA screen size would actually be less than a Gig. I'll just guess randomly that 256MB would be enough for a 2 hour flick. That puts the cost for a movie card around $100. They could go the Compact Flash route instead. Those a a little cheaper.

A better solution would to sell the videos online and then transfer to your SD Card via computer and then put into the GBA.

But since the Gamecube is a "games only" device I doubt we will see my drug induced idea.

What about Pokemon games? You need two of those boogers to catch all the Pokemon.
What about Animal Crossing? It literally takes a miracle to unlock all the NES games without cheating or trading. (BTW, if anyone wants to send me any of the rare games...)

Am I mad? No.

I like the Animal Crossing Route better. If your game is going to take up a whole memory card, bundle it with the game (and sell for $50). I thought I was getting a bonus when I bought the game but quickly realized the game took up the whole card.

I think this is silly. Back on the N64 and PS1 developers did season modes with 128Kb. Now they struggle with 2MB and 8MB. It's called lazy programming. Heck, I had season mode on my SNES with Ken Griffey and Madden. It saved stats.

Granted, there are more options now, but 16 times more?

TalkBack / 3DO Simulates World Series
« on: March 31, 2003, 10:29:51 AM »
Wait, stop the season! No need to play sports if computers already know the results.

This exericse seems a little extreme. It's one thing to predict the World Series/NBA Finals/Superbowl winner between two teams. But a whole season? Play video games. Watch sports.  But don't watch a computer play a season of video games. I feel sorry for the intern that had to set this up.
