I just started getting into Street Fighter X Tekken on PS3. I have had the game for a while but just not got around to playing it. I am really liking it a lot. I think the custom costumes are a little limiting and the auto combos can be annoying I am enjoying the game and will give it a lot more play time this weekend when I get through these week's paper.
not really, Christmas could yield big numbers for PS4 and Wii U both but the gap is closing and within reach if holiday sales are strong. I already have a Wii U and a PS4, it is Xbox One that I am looking at next.
I don't remember Sunshine well enough to really comment on it, just that it was the point where I started to hate Mario games. In fact Mario Party 4 was the only game on Game Cube that had Mario in the title I didn't hate.
Well from what I have seen, people around here don't even talk about Nintendo anyways they play silly name-calling games in that one forum I try to stay out of.
What I like: the idea of a controller where the button inputs & controls can change per game, and the limitation isn't based on what buttons are on the controller. One game could even have several sets of controls, depending on what you're doing in-game (really, look at the pics in the article, pretty cool).
what I don't like: touchscreen command inputs. Unless it's improved upon what my phone or ipad can do, I have no faith that precise movements will be possible on this style of controller. Shyguy's probably right that this is no more than a patent for an idea they've toyed with. That said, this could turn out just like the Wii U's gamepad where it's another obscure deviation from the other consoles that'll turn-off 3rd party developers from bothering with it.
No, that cannot happen again. Surely they have learned their lesson by now. Don't squash my hopes that NX will actually be something to get excited about.
I don't want another touch screen device, period. Unless they make a full on dedicated gaming tablet that doubles as a console and portable with HDMI out then I don't even want them including touch controls for backwards compatibility or DS Virtual Console.
Microsoft did come out and say they would make up for losing Street Fighter 5 so them trading Rare Replay to Nintendo in exchange for something more Xbox friendly is not a bad idea, Bayonetta 2 is not that game though. Sadly Wii U doesn't have anything worth trading to MS for this game. At least nothing they can reasonably be rid of. Maybe put Master Chief in Smash Bros. might do it though.
Honestly I would prefer they make a console that pretends Wii/Wii U never even happened including NOT having backwards compatibility and no more Mii's. But that is not going to happen so they had better make the rest of the experience as worth it and as cost effective as possible because Wii U was such a hard sell.
I am a huge Turtles fan. I must say this has me slightly optimistic.
The problem is still the Turtles designs...and I am not just talking about there faces. Nothing about them look like Ninjas. But to make matters worse they are still extremely over designed. Donnie is my favorite character, and this design is just insulting. It is like, we have to make sure you visually know he is the smart one. Nick's cartoon series did a great job of showing the Turtles personality in their design without over doing it.
I am also worried about their personalities...everyone said they nailed the Turtles presentation in the first movie, but NO the didn't. Leo which is supposed to be the leader and the overly concerned one, just fought with Ralph or did nothing. Ralph was the leader and character with an emotional arc, and Donnie and Mickey were left to be caricatures of the cliched characters they already were.
This looks better because it captures that retro feel of the 90s cartoon series, and honestly that is what they really need to push for with this series go extremely retro and go over the top. Finally, if they can get some humor to make fun of the genre as a whole then it will be even better...but that last one won't happen.
I didn't see the last one yet but I thought it looked alright. This one looks like it might be interesting though. Trying to decide if I should see the previous one first or just go to this one. Personally I don't care what they look like they are mutant turtles for crying out loud.
The OT weren't kids movies(except for the Ewoks), they were movies that happen to be watchable by kids. Calling them Kids movies is a weak excuse to wash real critical criticism one can lay on Star Wars OT and especially PT.
Everyone called them kids movies when they came out, they were like Disney movies, made for kids but enjoyable by all, you got it backwards buddy. We can have this same argument all day long, there is obviously no changing your mind so go away, nobody want's your negativity.
So answer your question no I personally would not support this. Partly because it is rare for me to give money to any kickstarter, if it is a good idea get some real investors and make a damn game if it is not good enough to find a proper investor and you have to beg for money then it is probably going to be lame.
Second, even if I did support kickstarters, which I don't, I would not fund a game that is designed to play on nostalgia of any kind, I would have to be really impressed by the game and nostlagia is over done by Nintendo and company these days there is no shortage of that so I need more than that to get excited for a game.
Third, you said based on Metroid but it looks like a FPS so I assume yo meant Metroid Prime and that is nothing more than must a Nintendo FPS that only would work as a Metrodoid game because people like the character and the world, playing what is essentially a fan fiction or a knock off however you want to look at it, would not be very exciting.
Fourth, the game looks very basic, it looks like it is trying to be Game Cube level graphics with some effects, maybe that is the tools you have, your level of experience or a specific design choice but I don't see people getting nostalgic for that look like they do the 8 bit and 16 bit looks. I wouldn't get hyped for a proper game by a big company intentionally designed to look ten years old unless it was 2D.
Fifth, like Evan said, there is no shortage at all of these types of games, FPS or Retro inspired Metroidvania clones.
HOWEVER, I am not likely your target audience, so just take my words as feedback to consider.
Unlike Evan I am not going to support a bad idea, or any idea good or bad, just because someone I know personally is involved unless it was a close personal friend or a family member and even then it would be minimal support at best, maybe some good luck here and there and a $25 contribution as say a Christmas present if even that.
Finally, good luck with the game regardless of how it goes, even if I personally am not interested, currently at least, does not mean you should not go for it and follow your dreams.
To answer your question of how well would it do, well I am guessing not well considering there is not shortage of these games at the moment.
My hype for this peaked a while ago. Disney has marketed it to death...
GET HYPED, IT'S STAR WARS!!!!
Why should I be hyped for the return of something that hasn't left the public consciousness in at least 15 years? Seriously, since the Phantom Menace released, it feels like there's been a new Star Wars movie/TV show/ or game every year. Why should I be hyped for something that never left, especially with this one made by the guy who made 2 shitty Star Trek films & some abysmal TV series?
Because it is Star Wars, not some cartoon on the cartoon network or some video game, it is an actual live action movie with real people, if you are over exposed then that was your fault for not growing up like the rest of the world and moving on, kids shows don't count otherwise we would have to include the stupid Droids and Ewoks crap in a Star Wars discussion and thankfully we can ignore that stuff. If you enjoyed it fine but there are PLENTY of adults who only watch the proper movies and and ignore the kids crap, and there are still plenty of nerds who will watch anything so if you aren't hyped fine but LET THE REST OF US BE EXCITED FOR STAR WARS!!!!
Also all that aside, this has HAN SOLO that alone should have you hyped.
I love Episode One it had the magic of Star Wars, the other two were just fanservice and that is why the so-called fans hate Episode One, it wasn't all fanservice it was the movie George Lucas set out to make and he got so much flack for it he had to shut off his internet forever. The problems with the prequels is they were just trying too hard to recapture the magic and everyone had built them up in their minds for 20+ years nobody was going to be satisfied. All six movies were intended to be childrens movies, the fact that some people just can't over look that is why they hold the first three, or two or one depending on who you talk to, in such high regard and **** all over the prequels.
The prequels do have some bad writing, lousy acting, and terrible dialog but no worse than Hunger Games, Spider-Man 1-3, or any of the Transformers movies, and people loved all of those. Star Wars is unique because it became a religion for some people and they consider it sacrilege to do anything with it they don't personally find fits into their twisted little world.
Slave Leia toys were not a bad idea, they don't promote anything any more than toys of bounty hunters promote kidnapping or toys of evil Sith Lords promote genocide , give me a fucking break and grow up dude. Ban the slave toys you might as well ban all Disney princess dolls they all get kidnapped and auctioned off for sex at one point, but nobody talks about that. Star Wars is a fairy tale, that is the best way to look at it, or some sort of mythology, it is not to be taken seriously, even Carrie Fisher is okay with the slave dolls, and I am sure not just because their sales make her money because the white Princess doll from A new Hope is also iconic with the buns and nobody seems to care she was going to be executed by her own father because she wouldn't rat out her friends.
I would support this, Nintendo needs all the games they can get at this point and Xbox One could use a title with some boobage to pick up some sales in Japan land. But ONLY if NX is backwards compatible with Wii U otherwise save it for NX.
Well there were rumors back in the 90's how Gran Turismo persuaded a bunch of interest in the cars featured in that game that were previously unknown. Maybe Nintendo is re-branding their low sales numbers into some sort of elitist culture and Mercedes is a part of that re-branding?
the casual hardcore stuff seems thrown around these forums a lot. I don't know about other forums..they're usually messes.
Wii U is a system for hardcore gamers. Wii was not.
The perception of Nintendo is not because of Nintendo. Its because of everyone else. Everyone lives in their own version of reality. Most people live in the Sony Xbox reality where Conkers Bad Fur Day, Perfect Dark, Eternal Darkness, Resident Evil: Remake, Resident Evil 4 like a year exclusive for GCN never existed. Some of these people don't all know about Wii U. Some think its an add-on for wii u. You could show them a mature game, tell them that its exclusive for a Nintendo system and their next question would be "when can I play it on my Xbox?" These people are in a feedback loop and it does not include free or credible information about Nintendo.
Speaking of Idiots. I was at a video store like 2 months ago and this guy was having a conversation with his girlfriend about H-DVD vs Bluray. This guy looked like meth city. Anyhow, he was talking to his girlfriend and this guy seemed like he had been living under a damn rock for like 5 years. We got into a conversation about it, just because I couldn't let it go and I explained to him HD-DVD has been dead for like 5 years. Bluray overtook it. Bluray won. His next question for me was which gaming systems do I like better "Xbox or PlayStation?"
Game Cube was called kiddie because it looked like a toy and many of it's flagship titles were slightly more kid friendly than previous entries rather than just neutral as in the past, especially Sunshine and Toon link. Wii earned the casual label there is really no denying that, but Wii was a success as a casual machine it failed as a traditional core or hardcore gamer console which is why Wii U is struggling because Wii U has an identity crisis and a severe lack of proper 3rd party support. Wii U might appear to be more focused on traditional gamers but it launched with too much "Wiiness" seeping through. Also despite the Game Pad being in many ways better than just the default Remote and Nunchuck of Wii, the buttons are too far spaced out and the analog sticks don't feel quite right.
I remember Game Cube days being able to talk to people about it and it was always something little that kept them from getting one, but it wasn't hard to bring them over and invite them to play a game or two and show how wrong their misconceptions were. This is not the case with Wii U pretty much it is what people say it is, a barren wasteland with a select few ultra-conservative appeal only to the super loyal fans first party titles. It has little room to grow beyond those of us who bought it just for the one game or another that we got it for.
They had coke cans in the Japanese Pac-Man, they had Pizza Hut billboards in the TMNT arcade game, product placement and advertismenets are not inherently bad, the model you described would not fly, but that is now what is happening nor is it what people are describing.
I would be shocked if the NX did not launch with a "Nintendo World" amiibo sandbox title. There is a lot of potential for a game like that.
I wish Nintendo wasn't so bad at not doing what seems obvious because that sounds like the clear choice for a Nintendo Amiibo game. As for Twilight Princess, I am excited for it since I only played the awful Wii version and gave up when I got to the under water part.
If Nintendo really wants to make something out of Amiibo they will do a Pokemon Amiibo game that ties the toys and cards to the game, instant Fort Knox money will never be an issue again for Nintendo.
I put my money on them phasing it out quietly shortly after they launch NX next summer. I am sort of on board with NX being two separate but connected pieces of hardware but I am almost positive they are lying about continuing to support Wii U into next year.
In fact I am at the point where I want to buy a Wind Waker special Wii U and then pray that Zelda U actually doesn't make it to Wii U at all and gets completely moved to NX when they realize it's not even doing Game Cube numbers so it's not worth the effort then the collectors edition consoles skyrocket in aftermarket value when it's discovered Wii U is the only Nintendo home console to never get a proper Zelda game released. That would be a good way to start of Iwata's successor's career.
well i would love to play with you guys, but don't have a wii u (can't get one ask shy for the reason y) pc still the best.
I am curious, never tried it, but how does multiplayer even work in a game like Minecraft, do you all fight for resources, is it an MMO, what does it to differently? I only play the game in creative mode offline for the most part, I tried survival mode a couple of times but it wasn't nearly as much fun.
I didn't think Denver could beat New England (or god damn Philly, for that matter)...it's possible.
Injuries beat the Patriots. Also, not having Old Man Peyton helped too.
And Goodell's not going anywhere. The league gave up TAX EXEMPT STATUS (something granted to them specifically by an act of Congress) in order to hide his salary (and take a little heat off their general dickery).
Oh is that what it was, I thought it was a noble act to inspire more loyalty to capitalism and shut up the boston $^% party crowd.
I don't see anything wrong with Nintendo getting some corporate sponsors, it gives them much needed extra cash and gives gamers free content but of course in our internet entitledment age someone will still bitch about content being free, the same lame ass idiots who honestly think paying for Hulu or Netflix is somehow better than just letting GM or Proctor and Gamble pay for content and let the networks stream it over the air for free, yeah free is a bad idea, free is evil.
This is different than revisiting an old retro game long forgotten though, this is an iconic game in a long running series that gets new editions all the time. Square knows who the audience is for this and they also know that we are all going to buy it no matter how much the collective internet might bitch about it.
