Nintendo Gaming / Game Boy Player: Import Vs. Domestic
« on: March 26, 2003, 10:06:10 AM »
Yeah,  I ordered from VGD with a Majora's Mask orchestra CD and a Nausicaa T-shirt - all together less than $100.  If color's important to you, I can understand not going with them since all they got were platinum.  I checked the shipping confirmation, and it's waiting for me at home.

To expand on what Billy said: We've got no reason or desire to see what you're talking about in private messages, but if someone's abusing the system and we get wind of it, we'll surely investigate.

Having played through the Japanese version, I would still say that you ought to get this game now.  What was shown is a downright stupid revelation, but it by no means ruins the game - or even that scene.

Nintendo Gaming / GBA SP recharger/ Power supply
« on: March 26, 2003, 07:39:49 AM »
Think of it like a cel-phone: If you're going to be using it every day, then you'll want to put it on the charger when you get home.  Even if it did wear out the battery, I'm sure Nintendo's repair centers would replace it with little or no cost.

Or you could buy a replacement power adapter from Nintendo.com

Just checked it myself and this is an absolutely silly claim.  The connection doesn't even overlap the shoulder buttons.  There's no way I can conceive of any problems.

I don't mean down as in the direction down...I mean down as in squeezing down on the stick.

Nintendo Gaming / GameCube Controller Question
« on: March 24, 2003, 10:06:05 PM »
One thing I want to ask everyone with control stick problems: Do you put a lot of downward force on the control stick when you use it?

I haven't taken apart a GC controller yet, but I'm pretty sure that the big problems that came from the N64 had to do with people gripping the controller and pushing down on the stick too hard.  The N64 controller also got "grindy" due to using a dry lubricant, but I again think that was made worse by people pushing in on the stick so hard that the lubricant got packed into some of the parts (and often came up as "fairy dust").  Taking apart the controller and dumping the lubricant was the only solution I found, but a friend of mine was experimenting with various other types of lubricant.  Anyways, from what I can see, the GC control stick is constructed quite differently, but I still think that excessive downward force could be what's damaging the sensitive controls.

Nintendo Gaming / Anyone found a good SP case yet?

Er...that same GBA case works fine for me.  I just stuff some games in next to the system and it doesn't slide around at all.

Nintendo Gaming / Scratches on the Platinum SP?
« on: March 24, 2003, 12:05:38 PM »
I've had mine since Friday as well, and haven't had any incident.  I saw the scratches on Billy's personally, and I honestly don't think they're worth worrying about.

Nintendo Gaming / GameCube Controller Question
« on: March 24, 2003, 12:01:44 PM »
I've never had problems with analog sticks, but I have had spotty rumble problems.  I noticed that my spice controller stopped rumbling properly early on.  Upon inspection I saw some scratches on the back side that indicate that at some point, someone dropped it on my hard wood floor.  Since it seems to work better when I pound it hard against my hand, I believe that has something to do with it.

Also, the other time I noticed a rumble problem, it seemed to be related to the extension cord I was using.  Apparently, after some months, the cord received some minor damage as Rick said.  Once I plugged the controller in directly everything worked fine once again.

So as these devices get more sophisticated, it becomes more necessary to take proper care of them.  At least the GC's controllers are holding up far better than the N64's did.

Hey Folks,

For any gameplay questions, let's move on over to the Gameplay Help forums.

My girlfriend is 26, and she picked up Pokemon Sapphire while I was in the bathroom and played it for two hours straight.  (She didn't think she would like it at all.) Shame that the game doesn't have multiple save files.

TalkBack / SP Headphone Adapter and Headphones Found
« on: March 24, 2003, 08:34:08 AM »
I'll ask the clerk at EB about the adapter when I pick up Zelda. If it's not there, it looks like I'll be giving Nintendo a buzz. The adapter is more useful to me than specialized headphones since I can plug into my PC to use its speakers or record for Radio Trivia.

Still, it does seem a bit silly not include this with the system in the first place.

Not exactly sure what you mean, but if you have four moves and learn another, you have to decide which move to delete.
