Nintendo Gaming / One Problem with Wind Waker
« on: March 31, 2003, 01:38:43 PM »
Complaining about the boomerang is silly.  It's a great new feature.

Difficulty...yeah, overall it can feel pretty easy, but there are places that will test your endurance later on.

Nintendo Gaming / New Zelda Gamecube game after Windwaker?
« on: March 31, 2003, 10:03:30 AM »
Since I was there when Miyamoto and Aonuma were talking about that, let me clarify.  They gave a very distinct impression that they had just finished wrapping up The Wind Waker and had not even determined what direction they would go with for the next Zelda game.  They did say that they toon-shading probably would not be as appropriate for a game with adult Link.  Miyamoto also commented that they had all the assets from the Spaceworld demo from a few years back if they determined to go the realistic route.

What it all really amounts to is talk and speculation even on Miyamoto and Aonuma's parts.  They don't even know what they're going to do for the next Zelda game.

The first fish tells you all about it right after you sail south from Dragon Roost.  Every square has an island, and somewhere around that island is a fish.  Find the fish and wait for the targeting arrow to appear.  Then, throw the bait.

please help

You need to feed bait to the fish in each square.  It's much easier if you do it as you go along.  Now, you should find yourself killing a couple hours to fill in your map.  Honestly, this is clearly explained, so the only reason I can assume people are still asking about it is that they skip past important text.

Nintendo Gaming / Backward Compass?
« on: March 31, 2003, 07:30:16 AM »
umm...I'll have to look at that when I get home, but I don't recall their being E and W laid out on the compass.  I thought the red arrow simply pointed north at all times.

Don't have a link personally, but maybe we can get a scan of it up.  It's in the Japanese instruction manual.

I love how everyone thinks we're being mean or something.  It's just a matter of clutter.  If people don't want spoilers in the official thread they can simply reply to the thread and look for the response.  What it comes down to more than anything is asking people to think before they post.

You know what, you just need to play the game.  If it wasn't a major trouble-spot for me, I'm not going to remember it.

Check your maps.  If you have the compass, the treasure chests will appear, and you can bet the boomerang is in one of them.

Well, I finally got it.  Keep at least one open slot.  Nincada evolved at level 20 into Ninjask, and the shell became Shedinja which only has 1 HP, but has an uncanny ability to avoid attacks as well as a heap of attack power.

He's right.  You'll have to leave Makar behind and do as much as you can without him.

That's simply the way the light is reflecting from the angle you're holding it. Nothing to worry about at all.

Hmm...If that hanging plant thing is very large and in the center of the room, you definitely need to cut it down with your boomerang.

You have to use grappling hook in the first room because there is no middle floor. The 2nd room has a holographic like one-way stairway leading up to a platform. The first room has 2 regular statues, an eye on the right wall, a door which can't get to on the left, and a weighted switch on the far side of the room to open the gate to the door on left. I can't figure out how to get the 2nd special statue out to the middle area that all the hallways connect to.

Isn't there a switch for Link to stand on while the statue moves through the room?

You're going to have to tell me more detail about the rooms you need help in.  I can't remember exactly what to do from vague descriptions. --Although if I remember right, you get the bow and arrow during part of this section, but perhaps not as soon as you think.

It's in the private oasis.  You need to go back to Windfall and find out who has access to it.  -You may have to do some other things first, so just have fun with the people at Windfall.
