TalkBack / Re: Yoshi's Woolly World Review

After watching PeanutButterGamer and SpaceHamster do a co-op video of the game, I am more interested in the game than I had been before. It looks like a cute little game that I would enjoy playing.

I clicked on the article thinking Paper Jam Bros. was an indie game copying Nintendo's name, but I guess it's the European name for Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam (with "Bros" added).

So instead of doing it when people are working or when they are sleeping, they will be doing it when most people are home and probably wanting to go online? 4-8 people is when a lot of people are home and wanting to play online or go on the eShop.

Releasing Crunchroll for Wii in October 2015? I'm all for adding more support to systems, but why add that to Wii? Are there still people who only own a Wii clamoring for anime content?

TalkBack / Re: Multiple Unannounced Titles Found In Wii U Game List
« on: October 14, 2015, 11:27:15 AM »
Not to mention it has improved graphics (which makes sense considering it came out 8 years after the original). The only way the original was superior was having a analog stick (though playing it on a 3DS helps). If the DS version actually does come out on Wii U, I would easily recommend buying that instead of the N64 version.

I would consider this a good sign, because the Gamecube version is expensive for a copy (I was an idiot and traded it in) and I refuse to use the Wii motion controls.

If they do it, goody. If not, then I won't be majorly devastated either.

You are missing out because the Wii version is superior (including in controls).

TalkBack / Re: SquareEnix Europe Considering Crowdfunding Localizations
« on: October 12, 2015, 11:18:33 PM »
This is why i've started hating crowdfunding (I first started turning against it when the Penny Arcade guys used Kickstarter to have fans pay their bills, which violated the rules of Kickstarter but Kickstarter allowed it because their 10% cut gave them over $100,000). So now if people even want the CHANCE to have a game released in their region, they'll have to give AAA publishers money. That money won't even get you the actual game, it'll just give you the chance to buy it. It's bad enough that Harmonix asked people to give them money to give them money for a game that Sony was already publishing. I refuse to pay ransom for localization, and I hope fans turn against them for this like when they tried the Deus Ex pre-ordering bullshit.

TalkBack / Re: Shovel Knight Retail Release Update

Printing and discs would add MAYBE $5 MAX to the costs (with like $4 of that being the box). $10 is just way overpriced and there is no reason to pay that much more, anybody wanting this game should just download it.

A price INCREASE? That blows, and could hurt sales. Yes $25 is not a huge amount, but still talking about a 25% increase in price. And it means it's now $10 more than the digital version, so I could not recommend it to anyone who can access the eShop.

Not buying a game just because it's digital is really dumb. It's one thing to prefer physical games, but to refuse to buy a digital game? I guess that means there are a LOT of great eShop/XBLA/PSN/Steam games you will never play. And like jarodea mentioned, games that might not have come out in a region as a retail release (because it's niche and would get limited customers) can get a chance thanks to digital releases.

TalkBack / Re: Remembering Super Mario World
« on: September 30, 2015, 11:28:22 PM »
Super Mario World is still my favorite Mario game. SMB3 is good, but SMW improved on it in almost every way. Between the SNES, GBA, Wii VC, and Wii U VC, i've beaten this game dozens of times over the years and always enjoy it (though Tubular can choke on a meatball and die, I always hated that level because of how hard it was). Giving secret exits to levels, fun new enemies like Chargin Chucks, giving you a partner/sacrificial lamb in Yoshi (and I would always go out of my way to get Blue Yoshi since it can fly with any Koopa shell). The game's graphics still hold up (I don't think SMB3 still holds up as well, unless you mean the improved graphics it got in Super Mario All-Stars). I could not say enough good things about this game, I love it and will continue playing and beating it at least twice a year and would have no problem buying it again if Nintendo released it on 3DS (whether it's the SNES version or the GBA version).

And I liked the spin jump.

Don't move levels are usually clever and well thought out, better than levels requiring trial and error (like one level I played that made you jump into 1 of 3 pits, but 2 of them would kill you instantly and you had no way of knowing which one to take unless you played the level before. Or levels that have doors which instantly kill you).

TalkBack / Re: Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer (3DS) Review
« on: September 22, 2015, 11:14:06 PM »
I'm not surprised about the review. They took the worst part of the Animal Crossing games and tried to make a full game out of it. The full Animal Crossing: New Leaf game was $35, but they are trying to charge $40 for one where all you do is decorate homes. I'm not trying to stop anyone from buying the game, i'm just saying that I don't see why this game needs to exist, and if it was gonna be released why it needed to be more than $20 max.

« on: September 20, 2015, 07:35:31 PM »
You could try buying them off eBay. And it becomes even more expensive if you want the Dark versions, as they will be exclusive to the Dark bundles (Wii U and 3DS only). So if you want all 4 of the Skylanders/Amiibo figures, the cheapest options will be to buy:

Wii U starter pack for $74.99
3DS starter pack for $64.99
Wii U dark edition for $99.99
Wii dark edition for $99.99

For a total of $339.96 (plus tax) if you are a Amiibo collector and want all 4 unless you manage to get somebody to give/sell you the Amiibo separately.

Having more options to buy eShop games is never a bad thing. Like if you are at work and decide you want to buy a game, you can just go to Amazon or Green Man Gaming and buy it. I've never used GMG myself, but i'm aware of it and it's one of the bigger digital game stores out there  (they have over 5,200 games).

TalkBack / Re: GameStop To Stop Selling Consoles With Bundled Digital Codes
« on: September 17, 2015, 05:06:37 PM »
Lousy policy. The only one who benefits from this is GameStop since people can't trade in digital games. Digital games not only save room for the gamer, but it also helps the environment by reducing how much physical content the publisher has to make. This is one more reason not to buy hardware at GameStop.

Ian, how does this affect you at all? No one was forcing you to buy a hardware bundle, and I hope none of the console manufacturers gives in to GameStop's policy. I hope this causes GameStop to suffer by having gamers get their bundles at other retailers.

TalkBack / Re: Super Mario Maker (Wii U) Review
« on: September 13, 2015, 11:30:07 AM »
After just an hour with Super Mario Maker, I played over a dozen user-created courses, all of which were more interesting and challenging than anything found in Kirby's Epic Yarn.

Based on my time with 100 mario challenge, most of the user created levels are bland or crap, a few have been good, but none have been great enough that I could imagine seeing them in a real Mario game.

And i'm wondering why I haven't unlocked any more editing tools even though I spent a good 40 minutes last night editing (and yes I have the 1.0.1 patch). You can't really create anything good with only the Level 1 editing tools

TalkBack / Re: New Wii U Hardware Bundle Announced For United States
« on: September 08, 2015, 02:28:46 PM »
Wasn't there was a Mario Kart 8 bundle back when that game first came out?

Yes, it included a Wii U, copy of the game, Wii Wheel and Wii Remote. This bundle though has the Wii U, Mario Kart 8, both sets of DLC for the game, and Nintendo Land. The Wii U is well worth the current cost, and has a good library of games. Not saying you want it as your only system, but it's well worth picking up.

TalkBack / Re: Pikmin 4 In Development, Mario Galaxy Looking At New Hardware
« on: September 08, 2015, 01:17:55 AM »
Might want to fix the article. It wasn't a July interview, Europe uses the day/month/year format, so even though it says it was published on 07/09/2015, that means it was published September 7, 2015.

I quoted the source on that one: "Speaking during an interview held back in July, Nintendo's top designer revealed that work on a fourth major Pikmin game was well underway."

Hmm. So either Eurogamer got it wrong, or they waited at least 6 weeks to report on the interview

I still haven't finished Pikmin 3, don't know why since I loved Pikmin and Pikmin 2.

If it still hard-locks, that is a big negative even if it's not as often. Moot point anyways since I don't own a New 3DS XL (I am considering getting the New 3DS when it comes out here, but it's mitigated by the fact that I have zero interest in Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer, and that drives the price of the system up).

Happy to see the regular size New 3DS coming, but only in a Animal Crossing bundle? I like the Animal Crossing games, but have zero interest in HHD because it's main focus is the part of Animal Crossing that I always liked the least.

And yet Walking Dead S2 is one of the most disliked Telltale Games from both fans and critics

That is just not true. Maybe you don't like it, but it's gotten pretty good reviews from both fans and critics. For example, it has an average of 80 on Metacritic; lower than season 1, but about the same as other Telltalle games like Tales from the Borderlands (which has a 81 average) and Sam & Max. Looking at the average reviews of the games, it would appear that most critics like their Walking Dead Season Two games.

Wah wah, I want everything unlocked right away or i'm gonna throw a temper tantrum and bitch about it.

Making you unlock stuff over the course of a week is NOT a big deal. My only complaint is having to wait to use the SMB3 or SMW style, I never liked the original SMB art style and plan to rarely ever use it in Super Mario Maker.
