TalkBack / Re: Puyo Puyo Tetris Lands In West Late April
« on: February 09, 2017, 12:23:41 PM »
Since it's a launch game in Japan, I guess if somebody doesn't want to wait til late April, they can just log onto the Japanese eShop and download it there.

I am kinda interested in it, but not $30 worth. With Puyo games and Tetris games, I tend to play them in short bursts.

TalkBack / Re: E3 2017 To Open To The Public

It's Entertainment Software Association

And if I lived near LA, I would consider it. But this will make it harder for press to actually do their job, maybe they need to do something like the Tokyo Game Show and have one day just for the press and the other days open to the public.

£280, however, is too high. In current exchange rates that $350.

That is not on Nintendo though. They let retailers in Europe choose the pricing.

TalkBack / Re: StreetPass, Miiverse Will Not Be Options On Switch
« on: January 14, 2017, 02:25:42 PM »
No it's just that the system doesn't have a decent harddrive/sdcard/whatever the f**k they have to warrant it taking up more space.

Except the Switch has the same hard drive space as the Wii U Deluxe did, and the 3DS even managed to have Miiverse.

I didn't use Miiverse much, but it was a nice feature that they should have kept.

I love Taiko Drum Master, but it seems like almost none of the games come to America. Not a problem with Switch being region free though. Bring it on!

Apparently the only game in the series released in English was the 2004 PS2 release.

The only issues with importing DQ10 is that playing RPGs (even MMOs) in Japanese can be tough if you can't read the language.

TalkBack / Re: Splatoon 2 Coming to Switch

I'm surprised they didn't call it Spla2oon.

I hate titles that do that, like Se7en or Resident EVI||

132
You would think that they would at least include an Amiibo in that $100 package.

This may be my most anticipated Switch title (Zelda and No More Heroes 3 are up there).

Except they have not announced No More Heroes 3, so you are anticipating a game that doesn't exist.

TalkBack / Re: Nintendo Switch Will Not Be Region Locked

Sounds like what Microsoft did with the Xbox 360, where they let publishers decided whether to region lock their games

135
2.5 hours is not good enough for a system that is supposed to be portable. And they didn't make the battery removable, so the only solution is a third party adapter (like smartphones that have non-removable batteries have)

TalkBack / Re: Know Your Nintendo Developers: Pokémon Snap
« on: January 09, 2017, 08:37:12 PM »
Actually, HAL's first released N64 game was Super Smash Bros. (which came out 2 months before Pokemon Snap, both in Japan and the US).

TalkBack / Re: Super Mario Run (Mobile) Review
« on: December 19, 2016, 07:24:43 PM »
If a game doesn't NEED constant online play, then requiring it to be online is a big factor. There are plenty of situations where you might want to play the game but can't because of no internet connection (like nickmitch pointed out) or where you might not want to use up your data. So it's a valid complaint in a review (and one i've seen plenty of people point out). Long term it is also bad because it will render the game unplayable when the servers are shut down, which is unacceptable for a single player game.

I am surprised that one of your Cons isn't the fact that apparently you have to have an Internet connection while playing it. I am interested in the game, but needing to have an Internet connection means I won't get it.

As usual I expect Nintendo to give the big middle finger to my area. Nintendo never brings ANY of their events within 5 hours of me. Whether it's their E3 demos, their Pokemon mall tours, the GameCube tour, or stuff like this. Nintendo couldn't care less about gamers around here.

TalkBack / Re: Yooka-Laylee Making Platform Switch: Wii U Version Cancelled
« on: December 13, 2016, 11:33:20 AM »
Are you guys kidding? I should be hearing the sounds of rejoicing not complaining. We will get Yooka Laylee on the Nintendo Switch!!!!! And if you backed it and asked for a Wii U version they'll trade your code to a Switch code.

It sounds like you may have to pay extra to get the Switch version though, saying you'll have to upgrade to it.

141
Minor correction, it's Reggie Fils-Aime.

This is what Nintendo needs to be doing, getting some mainstream exposure for their products. This is what helped make Wii the massive seller it was, appearing on shows like The Tonight Show and Ellen.

142
I wonder when we will find out what the Wolf Link Amiibo will do in Breath of the Wild.

And has Nintendo said if the Switch will support Amiibo?

143
The Witcher III: Blood and Wine  shouldn't have been eligible since it was just an expansion pack, not a new game. DLC does not count a new game.

TalkBack / Re: Stardew Valley Moving To Switch: Wii U Version Cancelled
« on: November 29, 2016, 10:17:50 PM »
The game had to have been almost done, and there are none of the costs involved with shipping a physical version of the game, so there was really no reason to not go ahead and release the Wii U version. It's basically a big FU from the developer to Wii U owners.

145
So the other current gen systems (Xbox One and PlayStation 4) get it, as well as the next gen system (Nintendo Switch). It's OK, though the Switch version should be the best.

Podcast Discussion / Re: Episode 7 - Dirty Rotten Scalpers
« on: November 18, 2016, 03:15:31 PM »
I have a huge problem with scalpers, they have no morals. This is not a case of someone re-selling something they no longer want. This is people buying something they had no intention of using, purely so they could then force someone who actually wants it to pay far more than the MSRP. It's like those scum who would buy dozens of rare Amiibos so they could then charge $100+ for them on eBay to those who actually want them. I'm glad eBay is at least limiting how many of them a person can list (so you can't do something like list 10 at once), these scalpers were even listing them on eBay over a month before it even came out.

TalkBack / Re: Nintendo To Sell US$99 New 3DS This Holiday
« on: November 07, 2016, 06:56:26 PM »
Very tempting, i'd love to replace my launch 3DS. I've wanted the New 3DS, but don't want the XL because it's too big for my pocket and the regular size one was only available in a bundle with Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer (a game I have no interest in).

TalkBack / Re: Nintendo Gives First Details Of Nintendo Switch (UPDATING)
« on: October 20, 2016, 11:31:44 AM »
supermario, it says the pro controller will be optional (so it won't be included).

My concern is will developers support it long term? The games look nice now, but the rumored specs are lower even than the PS4 and X1 (even though the Switch is supposed to be the generation AFTER those) and I am worried that eventually the AAA games will only go to those systems and Switch will only get lower end games.

It's nice to see a Elder Scrolls games on a Nintendo system. I have to see more but I am cautiously optimistic.

From what I remember (and could find online), the digital version was only available early to those who bought a Zelda Wii U hardware bundle (which had a regular Wii U, but the GamePad and some gold symbols on it) that came with a download code for the game. And I never saw reports of retailers being upset with it (because you still had to buy the console bundle to get the digital copy of the game).

Pretty slow week with only 3 new releases, even worse for Europe since they only get 1 game this week
