It doesn't look like a console, it looks like a Lacie Hard Drive. It's like they didn't even try. Adrock said it was intentional  and thats the part that really gets me. I know they were trying to go for the same audience as the Wii but you need "Apple Like Clout" to pull off selling a new product in an old(ish) box.

I agree that each character doesn't need a movie first but MOS 2 reportedly has Wonder Woman, Batman / Superman and now Denzel is possibly Hal Jordan. Hal jordan ain't Jimmy Olsen, I care about where he comes from and his origins in relation to this "new" world.


I would also debate the idea that the 5 Avengers are less known than the Justice League but, I'll leave that for another castle.

Which brings me back to an earlier point about DC trying to hard to catch up to Marvel in the Movies. While flawed, I liked Man of Steel on a 2nd watching but I can't see how Christopher Nolan is going to fit all these new characters into MoS 2. Unless its going to be a two-part sequel. Marvel had 10 years to set-up phase one.  Furthermore, to abandon the already well established Dark Knight Universe is a questionable more at best for me. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Good move.
My retort: Godfather III is the worst sequel of all time considering it's predecessor. Rocky, Bourne and MI are not trilogies nor is the 3rd film in those movies (save for Bourne) meant to bring closure to the story. As Toy Story and ROTK, well you got me there. I can't argue those since one of the best lines ever is in Return of the King and it's one of the best films I've ever seen.




 I stopped counting Star Wars as a trilogy 17 years ago when the prequels were announced. (Dear God  has it been that long?)


Back to the Future and Indy are solid too.

I really hated IM3. Like hated so much. I normally don't scrutinize movies too much, hell I loved movies that most people despise, (all three prequels) but IRONMAN 3 is by far the worst of the current marvel movies by a fair margin in my book. I say this because every time I read about The Mandarin, it reminds me of how Marvel wasted Ben Kingsley in that movie. TWIST? MY ASS it was a twist. I'm not sure how everyone else feels about it I just grrr….

The Wii U doesn't need "saving", it is what it was always going to be. With that being said, I get it: The U is underwhelming. In a few days we'll get numbers for Dec sales and you'll be able to get a clearer picture of the future.  I believe this is the part of the story when the hero gets a new ability and is able to go head to head with the villain.  As for jrpgs, that ship has sailed( KH3 and FFXV). Maybe "Last Story 2" or X can do some good. I always figured it would be something we don't know about, or smash…yeah probably just smash.

I know nothing of the GotG, and since this will be the first comic book movie I see that I have little to no knowledge of that universe, I'm looking forward to it more than the other movies this year.

I'm the opposite of you some of you. When I was a kid and my system was in my room, I never cared. Now, adulthood and a new found love of art just makes it look stale. And not just that. I wished it stood out from the other 2 Wii systems I have in the house so my ill-informed family stops bring to sync the gamepad to the Wii in my kids room. Maybe I should have bought the black system and customized it.


As for a revision, I'm sure the GamePad will get a Major overhaul if/when the games that support 2 pads are released.

true, but a new color ain't gonna cut the mustard. When the time comes and come it will they will revise the look. PS2, wii, xbox 360 and ps3 all received major overhauls.

Intentional? Really? Somebody thought this was a good idea? I am dumbfounded that, while I get that the controller is the main "sell" of the console but it's like they said "lets make a wii but round like the letter U, Genius!"




Dreamcast is my number #1 and GameCube #2. Here's hoping when the inevitable Wii U sp/lite/xl redesign comes they get it right.

And again I'm talking the physical design of the hardware. So I'm rearranging the living room and had to move our router, cable box and gaming systems since my son is about to start crawling. Long story not as long The Wii u is the main living room console now (mainly cause of off TV play). I'm looking at this thing now like "could you be more boring to look at" like a generic action movie of the early 2000's. Now I know that the look doesn't make "that" big of a difference in terms of gameplay, features and blah blah blah it's about as safe of a design that I can think of in the last 20years hyperbole in all. Not just Nintendo either, every other console since PS1 looks "better" or at least tries to. I would rather it be ugly rather than white bread.




As I type this I'm now thinking this safe, no frills, stoic "romantic comedy starring Julia Roberts" approach may also be the problem with the company itself.

While I agree with most of what Ian said (which is very weird), I would have to point out the amount of people who played 80's Nintendo games and still play today would guess is in the millions.  Urban Champion, Star Tropics, Duck Hunt, Kung fu and Gyromite all still have a place, just look at Smash Bros. I love when they pull out the obscure trophy or playable character form the Reagan Administration. Nintendo ip collection is 2nd only to Disney (if that). They can hit that nostalgia button really well.

So much doom in this thread. While I understand the trepidation, I can't imagine where giving up on a 13month young console makes any sense. in terms of sales, how many units does nintendo have to sell in dec to ease the fears with the fan base. 400k? 500k 1m? (btw, 400-500k for dec is what I'm thinking)


I think Nintendo is going to "double down" on Wii U. Push the chips to the center of the table and lets see what happens. Europe is lost(so what) Japan will come around when "that" games comes out and here in the west well, we'll just have to see.


This ain't over folks not by any stretch.

X3? origins? Never heard of these before. But that's ok, I never heard of Godfather 3 or Spiderman 3.  Even though Ryan Renolds would have been "PERFECT" for deadpool, I kinda hope they keep him as GL, its not his fault that movie was that bad. Also I hate when people play 2 different heroes. There is no need to recast him just make the script better.


The biggest problem with the X-men franchise is Superman Returns. (editors note: I love that movie) If not for Bryan's exit from the series, the problems that appear would not now have to be "retooled" via DOFP. As for Apocalypse, he is most definitely FOX's answer to Thanos. what I can't understand is why they would reveal something so big so early? He's clearly the after credits teaser of DOFP. Hollywood needs me so bad!


Didn't know there was an X force movie in the works. Doesn't that mean Cable? Messiah Complex? My dream, so satin.

Rashida Jones with a pixie hair cut is  about as perfect as casting can be for wasp. I just hope they don't over do it with the MCU. Although I haven't got tired of reading comic books yet.




Also here's to hoping Apocalypse is as badass as he is on the 90's fox kids Xmen show.
