TalkBack / Two Pokemon Distributions Get in the Halloween Spirit
« on: October 01, 2014, 12:24:19 PM »

Plus a spooky new online competition!

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/38642/two-pokemon-distributions-get-in-the-halloween-spirit

Get your copies of Pokémon X and Y ready for the Halloween season with a shiny Gengar and super-sized Pumpkaboo this month.

GameStop will be distributing cards with a code to download Gengar from October 13 to 26. Gengar will be holding Gengarite, a Mega Stone, which will turn it into a bright white Mega Gengar with the Shadow Tag ability, preventing enemies from switching out or fleeing during battle. GameStop will also be selling exclusive Pokémon TCG Gengar Booster two-packs, which includes a Gengar Spirit Link Trainer card.

Starting today, Pumpkaboo can be downloaded via the Nintendo Network as a Mystery Gift. The Pokémon will come with Halloween appropriate moves like Trick-or-Treat and Scary Face and will hold a Rocky Helmet which damages any Pokémon using a physical attack. Pumpkaboo will be available until October 31.

A special ghost-type single battle online competition, the Trick-or-Treat Friendly, will require a super-sized Gourgeist, so players will need to trade their newly acquired Pumpkaboo with a friend so it can evolve.

Not true.  Vicarious Visions developed the best Skylander.  Skylander 3DS.  Which made me hopeful for Swap Force fixing what I didn't like about Giants.  Its obvious that Toys for Bob had a heavy hand in Swap Force.

I was referring to main console titles, not handheld. And Toys for Bob had almost no part in making Swap Force, something they made a point to mention when going over their company's history with me

For me, the levels in Trap Team were pretty straightforward with maybe two optional quests in each (which you you'll need specific villains to unlock). The only enemies you can trap are the bosses, with two in each level I played. They were all pretty different and even changed the soundtrack of the level when you activate them, which was a fun touch.

And for anyone who enjoys the hoards of chompies, the Chompy Mage from Giants returns and is kind of hilarious. The voice for him, Alex Ness (who wears a variety of hats at Toys for Bob, including story development), said all of his lines were improvised. His background music is an old-timey bouncy melody.

The most interesting part for me is all the issues people had with Swap Force, which is the only Skylanders title not developed by Toys for Bob...

The two levels I played were definitely shorter. I'm not sure if they picked those levels on purpose because it would be easier to demo, or if they're all going to be shorter again, but it so far it worked pretty well and bosses show up right when you'd want them to

TalkBack / Skylanders Trap Team Hands-on Preview
« on: September 15, 2014, 01:00:00 AM »

We visited Toys for Bob’s tiki-inspired studio to get up close and personal with the new game.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/preview/38515/skylanders-trap-team-hands-on-preview

Recently I visited the Toys for Bob studio to experience the upcoming Skylanders Trap Team for the Wii U. Every year the Skylanders franchise comes out with a new trick to freshen up the series and expands on old favorites, and this time is no different with the introduction of Trap gems.

The story is pretty straightforward, but shakes up the usual “defeat Kaos” goal of past games. This time around Kaos turns to his childhood idols, villains who were captured by the Trap Team and held in a special Traptanium prison. He blows up the prison, sending the villains, and shards of Traptanium, down to Skylands. However, the tables are turned when the freed baddies refuse to help Kaos. For the first time, Skylanders and Kaos share a common goal: rid Skylands of these new villains.

The game features the new Trap Master Skylanders, who wield special oversized crystal weapons made from Traptanium. Over 50 new figurines will be released, including new regular Skylanders, Skylanders Minis and reposed fan-favorite Skylanders. As always, Skylanders released for past games will be fully compatible.

For Trap Team, the developers hope to put a spin on the Toys to Life genre they created by bringing the villains out of the TV and into the toy. The redesigned portal features a little prison extension with a speaker inside. Whenever a boss is defeated in the game, the player is given the opportunity to capture them in a corresponding elemental Trap gem.

The idea is pretty simple, but Toys for Bob really put in the extra effort to make it as realistic as possible so kids will believe they’ve trapped the villain in the real world. When a villain is sucked into the Trap, the audio fades from the TV and switches to the portal’s speaker as the character complains about their new abode, but eventually decides to help the player. The Trap glows and blinks to match the audio and bring focus to the portal. To keep this new twist interesting, villains will randomly interject their thoughts on whatever is happening in the game to really push the idea that you’ve caught a sentient being. With over 100 unique lines per villain (and over 40 villains), there’s a lot of surprises and opportunity for humor.

Villains can be swapped in to the game quickly with the controller, and since they don’t have a health bar they can come in handy if your Skylander is low on health. Villains feature strong moves but are only playable for a short time until they need to return and recharge in the Trap.

Trap gems only hold one villain at a time; overflow is transferred to the Villain Vault in Skylanders Academy, the hub for the game. However, there is no limit to the amount of Traps you can buy and use, and each element comes in several designs so you can tell them apart.

The game itself is pretty similar to previous titles in the series. Goals are extremely clear with pointed levels while puzzles are straightforward, but have a few added elements to them. However, the new environments are absolutely wonderful to explore with highly themed areas like Time Town, which features a giant clockwork zone run by Italian Renaissance-type characters.

Another level I played was called Chef Zeppelin which featured my current favorite villain: Chef Pepper Jack. Upon entering the level, Portal Masters will have control over Flynn’s airship weaponry and shoot down enemies while taking out the zeppelin’s heavy artillery. It’s a perfect way to shake up the game mechanics and hit the ground running when you start. Upon infiltrating the ship, gameplay returns to normal and players must seek out the villain for a surprisingly challenging battle with lasers and chaotic combat. Upon capture, Pepper Jack, a large, Cajun red pepper-man, can attack with his hand mixer or repeatedly throw a circle of pepper bombs around him.

From what I could experience, the Wii U version wasn’t too different from other consoles, with the exception being that players can use the gamepad’s touchscreen for small things like lock puzzles, and active characters appear on the gamepad. Poking the screen will also trigger a small reaction from characters.

There are a lot of bonus missions, but each one needs a specific villain to unlock. I had Cross Crow, a new air elemental villain, available for one such quest and played a timed mission where I ran around defeating enemies while triggering a set amount of targets. I was able to easily complete the area in six out of the ten minutes I was given even though I missed a target and had to backtrack. It didn’t give me much motivation to go out of my way to unlock more, but with promise that each quest is unique in some way, maybe others will pose more of a challenge.

Besides Story Mode, I was shown two other ways to play: Kaos Doom Challenge and the rhythmic Skeletones mini-game. Challenge mode features different battle stages, such as Twice Doomed Marsh. Players much protect a golden chest through 40 waves of foes coming from three different entrances to get the reward at the end. In between waves, players can build their offense by using Skylanders of various elements to build elemental guns on the field. With each successful wave, weapons are upgraded and release coins to collect. While challenging at first, there is a huge advantage for players who have collected Skylanders of each element since the numerous guns become so powerful that you rarely have to actually fight with any real urgency.

The Skeletones mini-game was way more fun than it should have been. At its core it’s a sequence matching game where you “fight” six different well known characters, like Flynn or Kaos, to compete for a spot as a background singer in the Skeletones band as any Skylander or villain. However, the ridiculous “singing” of the characters mixed with the over-the-top musical genres used transform the game into an addictive and hilarious way to spend your time. Each level can be played as easy, medium, hard or expert and features special button mashing rock out sections where players try to fill their meter before it returns to the normal song.

Overall the game is going in the right direction with new mini-games and some more challenging moments. While skeptics may not see the Trap addition as a huge change, the game is well designed to push the portal’s new trick to something more tangible, carrying it into all parts of the game, and creating fun quirks and touches that give the game a new polish.

TalkBack / Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes E3 Preview
« on: June 15, 2014, 12:36:53 PM »

New suped-up abilities leaves previous figures in the dust.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/preview/37801/disney-infinity-marvel-super-heroes-e3-preview

With the announcement of a Spider-Man play set and a plethora of new characters, Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes edition expands well beyond the reaches of their original universe. With the addition of new Toy Box mechanics and play set crossovers, Disney proves developers have been paying close attention to fan feedback.

Previously announced Avengers Captain America, Black Widow, Thor, Iron Man, Hulk, and Hawkeye were in the spotlight during the expo, displaying their full powers in the Toy Box and Manhattan play set. Spider-Man’s crew joins the fray with Nick Fury, Venom, Iron Fist, Nova, and, of course, Spider-Man himself. The figures were on display, but unfortunately unplayable in the demos.

As both teams are part of the same universe, Disney is allowing select characters, such as Nova, to actually cross play sets. In the case of Nova, players will need to hunt through Manhattan for Nova coins, collect them all and introduce the Avengers to a new ally.

We tried out three characters from the new lineup and even got our hands on a couple of the 80 new power discs introduced. Thor is considered a flying character (alongside Iron Man and Nova) in the game, using his hammer to guide him. It’s pretty easy to control, with his precise movement and ability to hover. Hulk’s ability to wall climb is honestly my favorite ability right now. After falling off ledges from ill-timed jumps too many times to count, there is a huge satisfaction in crunching through the bricks on a wall with Hulk’s fists and moving anywhere on a building in a destructive and powerful way. Hulk can quickly travel through cities as well, launching himself high in the air and landing far away, slamming into the pavement. As a lighter, more agile character, Spider-Man utilizes his web-slinging action to move through areas like Tarzan. You don’t need to actually aim at any logical point for his web to cling to as the ability will work anywhere and is extremely intuitive.

Enemies such as the symbiotes are harder than previous renditions and will require help to defeat if many are encountered. A large symbiote we encountered even spawned smaller inky versions of himself that quickly attacked us as he tried to finish him off. To keep the game fair for single players, a new power disc type, the sidekick disc, has been introduced. We played with Iron Patriot, a strong brawl character who requires a somewhat lengthy charge time before he can unleash an attack. When his meter is filled however, players need only to press down on the D-Pad to send him running at enemies with a powerful melee attack.

The introduction of skill trees will also help players defeat stronger enemies. These work in much the same way as other games that use the mechanic, and cannot be completely filled, so choices should be made strategically. However, the game is extremely forgiving, and the entire skill tree can be reset at any time, returning skill tree points to players to redistribute. Developers wanted players to be able to play as the same character if they wanted, but still have ownership and unique strengths with their personal choice.

By popular demand, costume power discs can also be used for specified characters. Unfortunately, it won’t be possible to mix and match and place, say, Spider-Man’s Alien Symboite costume on Thor, but it was still a fun change to play with and can help liven up a purchased character.

Jumping into the Toy Box, we were able to build entire skylines and forests by simply placing a special themed builder piece. Eve, for example, who was on a constant search for plant life in Wall-E, helps players fill out vast parks or diversify their magical forests as a tiny robotic builder piece in the Toy Box. The building process is not automatic and larger buildings will take more time, however the process is seamless and continues as you play for as long as you keep the builder active. All automated objects are fully customizable so the new mechanic is perfect if you just need to fill out a city or jumpstart a complex project.

Expanding on user created Toy Box games from 1.0, players will now be able to place pre-made structures that will create a randomly generate game course. Different types can be chosen, such as a Mario-influenced platformer or a racing course. As with the builders, these courses can be edited or added to, making it easier for players to create their own masterpieces to share with the community.

Another welcome addition is the use of the new Disney Infinity Toy Box mobile app. Releasing soon after the main game, players can upload their Toy Box creations to the Disney Infinity Cloud and continue building directly from their phone or tablet.

Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes releases this September, with many more announcements to come before then. Who will you be adding the roster?

TalkBack / Story of Seasons E3 Hands-on Preview
« on: June 13, 2014, 02:43:13 PM »

Marvelous and XSEED giving Natsume some competition.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/hands-on-preview/37802/story-of-seasons-e3-hands-on-preview

Story of Seasons is Marvelous AQL’s heir to their long-running series, stripped of the Harvest Moon title in the west due to licensing issues with Natsume, who are currently developing their own separate Harvest Moon. Name-change aside, the big difference between this game and its competitor is the widely different direction it chooses to take, into a world of social connections and complex economics.

As with many of the Harvest Moon games in the past, relationships strongly contribute to the overall success of your farm, but this time, it isn’t just about giving gifts and making friends. Making money with your crops and goods is determined in trade with other countries. Players start off on a fairly simple scale with only one country engaging in trade, but as your game progresses, more become unlocked and each will have specific wants and needs that gamers can track and use to their advantage. Video games getting more complex as players progress isn’t a new concept, but it’s definitely a welcome sight in this series where, in the past, money and success were only hard-earned in the beginning. Trading with other countries will also increase your relationship with them, increasing the probability of receiving special exotic animals for your own personal safari.

The animal safari is an interesting place, with a variety of landscapes to accommodate animal-gifts from your trade partners. In the demo, we were only allowed to play with the animals and fish in the pond, but we were told that in the future, hosting safaris will be beneficial to players as a method of bringing tourism to their town.

Character customization is a feature Marvelous has chosen to run with as result of positive feedback from the customization in Harvest Moon: A New Beginning. Naturally players can choose a male or female avatar in the beginning, but each time you step into the closet, you can change skin tone, hair color, and eye color as well as just about everything you’re wearing, right down to the style of glasses. Even more accommodating, clothing choices are not limited by a gender binary. Guys who want to wear dresses? No problem, and more new clothing can be made throughout the game by purchasing patterns from the Trade Station and using them with your own materials. Yarns can also be bought from town for players who might choose not to make it themselves. The wide variety of clothing styles really provides something for everyone, whether you want to be goofy, cute or pretty.

Previously streamlined features make reappearances in this game, with a new addition to boot. The bag sub-menu has fortunately been kept to make tool-use relatively quick, but players can now water plants, seed plots and even harvest their crops in just two steps: click on the crops and they condense into a single box; then a player can pick up the box to store it in their inventory. Whether or not this eliminates the quality grading system for crops has yet to be seen.

Both Story of Seasons and Natsume’s Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley are slated for release later in the year. While Story of Seasons has already had a very positive Japanese debut, only time will tell how these two titles will be received in the west, and whether or not either approach to the well-known farming-sim series will meet with success.

In our interview with Yoshifumi Hashimoto at Marvelous/XSEED for Story of Seasons, he let us know he does not want Story of Seasons to be thought of as a Harvest Moon title per se. It goes in a different direction than the series traditionally does and he wanted to explore different elements and themes. He did admit it bears a different title because of licensing, but they wanted to go in a different direction than Natsume with the series and wanted their western fans to conciser this as a completely different potential series

TalkBack / Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham E3 Preview
« on: June 11, 2014, 11:49:00 AM »

Time to dust of that bat-spacesuit...

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/preview/37770/lego-batman-3-beyond-gotham-e3-preview

Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham follows directly after the events of Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes. This time around, Brainiac has teamed up with the Legion of Doom and decided to collect planets by shrinking them down using the power of the Lantern Corps’ Rings. Batman must team up with the Justice League and travel through outer space to save each world.

4.png

Throughout the game, players will be able to control 150 unique characters including both heroes and villains such as The Flash, Wonder Woman, Solomon Grundy, and Killer Croc. Bat-Mite provides explanations throughout the game for new power suits and interactive objects.

In the first scene, players need to help Batman and Robin reach space by assembling his spaceship in the Batcave. We started out with 3 power suits each to help us navigate the Batcave’s securities. As usual, this is pretty much done by destroying everything around, even though Batman could probably just disable things like the laser walls, since he kind of made them himself. Explosions are more fun anyway, and the game starts out with a blast, equipping Batman with a suit that shoots rockets and can lay out TNT bundles to destroy silver Lego objects.

1.png

Other suits for Batman included a Sensor suit that changed the screen to a green x-ray, and a Sonar suit that attracted and controlled bats. Robin got into the action with an Attract suit that pulled over scattered Legos, and a Techno suit that controlled a tiny surfing robot who could activate gadget panels.

Up to two players can experience the game together, with the screen splitting in two every time you separate too far from each other. The split screen is pretty seamless, and the division line moves based on the direction the characters are running in. Sometimes the transition could be a bit jarring though, especially if a player just barely moved far enough, as you needed to readjust yourself to the new camera angle.

2.png

The area was a bit more challenging than previous titles, but not always in a fun way. Often the game became frustrating as you wandered the cave, looking for something shiny or out of place that might be important to your mission. With no clear goal and equipped suits that weren’t explained yet, it took a while make purposeful progress at first. However, the new abilities were welcome additions and their potential is promising for later levels.

The game includes the usual quirk and humor of Lego titles and nothing stands out as insanely different. Building objects is a one button process, suits and characters are one-trick ponies, and destruction is rewarded. Business as usual in the world of Lego.

TalkBack / Mario Party 10 E3 Hands-On Preview
« on: June 10, 2014, 07:35:00 PM »

Nothing is as sweet as being evil.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/hands-on-preview/37754/mario-party-10-e3-hands-on-preview

10.png

Mario Party debuts on the Wii U next year with its tenth installment to date. While not much is known beyond its ability to pair with amiibo, we were able to play four mini games that will be unique to the new five-player Bowser Party mode.

The new mode pits up to four players against Bowser, who is controlled by the GamePad, in either Bowser’s Fire Bar Fury, Bowser’s Bad Breath, Bowser’s Painball Pit, or Bowser’s Wicked Wheel. Players get five lives per game to survive the upcoming onslaught. All the games are all short and easy to pick up, using at most two buttons.

1.png

Bowser’s Fire Bar Fury takes place on a square arena in the middle of a deadly lava pit. Using the GamePad’s gyroscopic abilities, players tilt the controller to move two fire bars: one goes up and down, the other left and right. Defending characters need to run and jump to avoid the fire bars as the clock counts down. The fire bars were larger than they usually appear in Mario games, adding to the challenge.

7.png

The gyroscopic controls came in handy once again in Bowser’s Bad Breath as players held the GamePad up and tilted left and right to aim a giant Bowser at the other players while also pressing A to shoot fireballs out. Defending players can only run around the square arena to avoid the deadly projectiles. Bowser moves slowly during the game to give them a fighting chance, and it’s actually a little tricky to aim into the corner closest to Bowser himself, making it a popular hiding spot while the others flee.

Bowser’s Painball Pit puts players in an oversized pinball machine controlled by Bowser. The space is empty except for a large, heavy disc that can either impede the spiked balls Bowser flicks through the machine or trap the other characters. If a spike ball falls through the bottom of the machine, a new one quickly replaces it to keep two present at all times.

6.png

Lastly, Bowser’s Wicked Wheel places characters in a hamster wheel with two electrified rods on either side. Players shake the Wii Remote quickly as it spins to run away from the electric rod behind them. The Bowser player swipes on the screen to make the wheel spin as fast as they’d like, while swiping backwards stops the wheel, causing players to run into the electric rod in front if they don’t stop fast enough.

It was a good taste of what’s in store for Mario Party’s mini games, and the frantic but simple nature of each got everyone into the game right away. Every game was fun and required different tactics whether you were Bowser or running for your life, and as always, being evil was its own reward.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/hands-on-preview/37737/bayonetta-2-e3-hands-on-preview

Last year Nintendo treated us to a pretty extensive demo of Bayonetta 2, an experience that was so violently fun and graphically beautiful it won one of our coveted NWR E3 Awards. You can check out last year’s hands-on preview here, or stay tuned for all the new features revealed for this October release.

Most of the story demo stayed the same as the previous year’s, with more of a focus on battle and advanced combos. Controls are easy to get used to and the triggers on the gamepad are only used for charged attacks, such as Umbra Climax. The game helpfully lets players know when these powered up attacks are ready to go, which turned out to be insanely helpful as the battle itself requires a lot of concentration as enemies attack from all around in a fast-paced battle.

Bayonetta has two main button-mashing attacks: physical and guns. However, holding down either the X or A buttons allows Bayonetta to repeatedly fire an endless supply of bullets from the guns either on her heels or hand. The jump button can also be held down to trigger Bayonetta’s flying ability. It’s a little jarring at first, as she instantly grows large butterfly wings from her back, and movement can be slow. It proved helpful when you needed to move away from a group of enemies, but her evade maneuver is easier control. With the quickness of battle I experienced, and with the added boost of activating Witch Time with a well-timed evade, I rarely needed to fly during the demo.

As you defeat enemies, small golden Halos will burst out for players to collect. These can be used to purchase new combos, upgrades, and costume changes.

Players who purchase the retail copy of the game will receive the original game bundled in with a few extras included. By far the most noticeable addition for Nintendo fans is Bayonetta’s costume changes. The titular witch has already raised eyebrows with her hair-laced outfit and short new ‘do in the sequel, but the old Bayonetta proves to be a fan of the classics with options to dress up as favorites such as Samus, Link, and Princess Peach. These can be purchased with collected halos in the store.

Update: A more advanced demo took place later in the story, with Bayonetta exploring a town full of medieval architecture and a giant ruined church. Smaller enemies soon appeared but were easily taken down. When they were defeated, most dropped halos, but one dropped a weapon which I could pick up and equip. Weapons don’t drop often but it’s a good way to diversify battle and find a style that works best for you.

Many combos utilize Bayonetta’s legendary locks, twisting around to shoot range attacks or spear enemies with. Occasionally, I assume with the right combo, Bayonetta actually transformed into a cat-like animal. When enemies are permanently airborne, however, even non-combo attacks change automatically to a range type.

Cut scenes revealed a mysterious child intent on reaching the sacred Fimbulvinter mountain. A masked enemy attacks the child while Bayonetta continues to explore and defeat minor enemies. While they put up a good fight, with the child using card-themed magic attacks against the masked enemy’s quills, Bayonetta arrives just in time to stop the final blow from the masked person. The child is less than thrilled about being helped, and disappears as the boss battle begins.

The masked enemy is fast, attacking with chain attacks that require frequent evasion. It’s a great change of pace and requires more strategy than previous large battles, utilizing the entire arena for once. Eventually, Bayonetta summons a large demon to aid in the battle which also causes molten lava to surround the characters, cutting the space down so much it becomes more of a 2D battle. Your foe can manipulate the lava, but this attack takes time to charge and can be interrupted if you quickly react.

Health bars are clearly displayed for all enemies, with more important foes possessing multiple bars. Unfortunately, it wasn’t easy to tell how many bars an enemy had, but battles were so action packed it was easy to forget to look anyway and just focus on your battle tactics instead. Bayonetta’s health on the other hand slowly replenished throughout the battle, but it wasn’t clear if this was due to damage, combo bonuses, or just time. This wasn’t the case in last year’s demo though.

The final battle was almost comical unfortunately, and didn’t feel like a real finale after the tactical craziness of previous masked enemy. Somehow Bayonetta transformed into a giantess, with tightly woven hair covering her body. A large stone-like enemy was the new foe and all guns and weapons disappeared as a straight-up boxing match ensued. It wasn’t very exciting as the two giants slowly exchanged punches or dodged.

The game packed a lot of graphical intensity into battles with unique enemy designs and rich, moving backdrops for battles. Just as I became accustomed to a certain type of battle, the situation would change, either with airships flying into play, projectiles whizzing by, or lava waves rushing in. The pace of battle is frantic in stark contrast to the short episodes of exploration, and keeps you engaged and wanting more.

TalkBack / Bayonetta 2 Rated in Australia
« on: May 27, 2014, 06:37:43 PM »

Is a release date not too far behind?

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/37537/bayonetta-2-rated-in-australia

Bayonetta 2 has received a MA 15+ rating from the Australian Classification board, citing themes, violence, language, and sex as its main concerns.

The rating is the second highest allowed for games in Australia and restricts anyone under the age of 15 from purchasing the game. The board has described the game as containing “strong fantasy violence” and categorized the themes, language, and sex aspects as moderately impacting the game, while violence has a “strong impact.”

The highly anticipated Bayonetta 2 is the sequel to the 2009 title and will feature Bayonetta fighting to save the soul of her former rival, Jeanne. The game will be exclusive to the Wii U.

Is Nintendo testing the water for more to come?

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/37368/mario-kart-web-service-on-the-way

At today’s Nintendo Investor Meeting, President Satoru Iwata revealed that a new web service for Mario Kart, tentatively titled Mario Kart TV, will be available some time around the release of Mario Kart 8.

This service will be accessible on all smart devices and computers, allowing users to see rankings and share highlight reels, as well as receive reels and hint videos from Nintendo. While an NNID is not required for all these features, logging in will allow players to easily find their own rankings, videos from friends, or tournament videos from those they've raced in. They have even potentially hinted at more developments like this one in the near future: "We will work on providing this type of service so that players can enjoy video games more and be in contact with them even when they are not in front of a video game system."

Nintendo addressed rumors of a move to smart devices at their third quarter financial results meeting in January, emphasizing that they were not planning to create games for the devices; however, it was stressed that the company wanted to build up a mobile presence.

Would you like to see more things like this for any other upcoming Nintendo releases? Let us know in the comments!

New Door tool opens up a world of possibilities.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/37306/disney-infinity-marvel-super-heroes-allows-interior-customization

Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes will introduce a Door tool for the Toy Box that will allow players to enter the structures they've built.

The new tool can be used on top of an existing structure and, once inside, players can customize the interior with new items such as Marvel-themed furniture. This new feature serves as a home base in the game, where players can display achievements they've earned and show off their unique style.

John Blackburn, vice president and general manager of Disney Infinity, and John Vignocchi, executive producer, discussed the possibilities of building interiors, mentioning custom caves and dungeons, but did not elaborate.

The Door tool and interior build options are part of the enhanced Toy Box features for the game, which includes the new Creator tool and other additions to make building worlds faster and easier. Players on the original Disney Infinity spent over 60% of game time in the Toy Box, prompting developers to focus on pushing the mode further.

TalkBack / Re: Pokémon Happy Meal Toys Coming to America
« on: April 30, 2014, 01:46:19 AM »
These toys seem kind of lame compared to the Pokéball items with golden Pokémon tabs inside that you could get at Burger King around the time Pokémon first came to the US. Those toys felt like they really gave you something.

i LOVED those golden Pokémon card things at Burger King! can we get more gold-plated toys at fast food restaurants?
