Nintendo Gaming / RE: Did I miss something? Where's "Game Zero"
« on: May 21, 2003, 02:27:08 PM »
First I wasn't implying that the next Zelda was realistic looking.  I was actually saying that games like "Tetra's Trackers" and "Four Swords" are not true Zelda games.  Before the next generation of hardware hits, there will be an all new, full length Zelda adventure.

Also its not set in stone that the next title will be "anime-inspired," like the current Wind Waker is.

perm, that was possibly the most stupid post I have ever read.  Get a haircut hippy

"Game Zero" is the game being developed by Goldeneye's former creator, is it not?  Give it time and Pilotwings GC, Mario 128, the Next Real Zelda and a couple of other big suprises should show their faces very soon.

Dark Legacy looks a hell of a lot better on GC than it does on ps2.  I have played both.  It seems almost everything that comes out on both ps2 and GC, looks far better and loads faster on GC.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: broken gamecube...suggestions?
« on: May 21, 2003, 08:17:13 AM »
Wait, i forgot to mention that my friends GameCube and my own GameBoy were both beyond their warranty!  Yet, still Nintendo fixed them for free because they openly addmited that the problems in both was their own fault.

Dude, you can never rely on company posted numbers.  I work as a buyer for a major retail chain.  All I can say is this, we like to call $ony's projected 50 million installed base, the "50 million lie."  Thats a number that only reflects shipped units and NOT sold units. I have tons of unsold ps2's in all the stores I visit.  Also, one thing $ony never takes into account is the fact that it's hardware has the HIGHEST rate of failure. (Did you know that playing DVD's on your ps2 will cut it's lifespan in half?!)

You have no idea how many people come into our stores whinning "my ps2 doesn't work!"  My younger cousin is the manager of a Toys R Us in NY, and the story is the same for him.   Every couple of days someone comes in w/ this same complaint.

As for Microsoft, they have lost almost One and a Half BILLION DOLLARS on the X-Box since the consoles launch!  A billion and a half!  If you doubt my numbers just check the Wall Street Journal or read the book "Opening the Box."

Even after cutting costs and producing the current boxes w/ the cheapest Chinese made parts they could find, the system still loses almost $150 per unit.  Microsoft does not "break even" until a consumer has bought their 8th game at full price!

lol!

Nintendo has the lowest cost of goods.  The owners of Nintendo consoles buy more games than anyone and the GBA is crushing the handheld market.  As a retailer, I actually think that despite the numbers, Nintendo is actually winning the game, as they make the most money on actual Video Games!

This post is a strange one.  My friend Chris, who lives in Upstate Ny, was having the same problem that author of this thread was having. (disc read errors)  Anyway, he called Nintendo and they said that his particular GC was part of an early batch that was later discovered to have an inherent defect.  Nintendo then pointed him to a local authorised repair center (Lake Electronics, in Albany, Ny).  He took his GC in and they fixed it for FREE.  Not only that but they also delivered it to his home AND they replaced the refelctive disc on the systems lid saying "it looked a little scratched!"

The funny thing is, 10 years ago I had a similar problem w/ my first GameBoy.  My screen was really messed up, I actually had lines running through my lcd display,  so I called Nintendo.  They sent me to an authorised repair center in the middle of Los Angeles (in Korea Town).  When I returned to pick up my system they had not only fixed it for free, but they also replaced my screen saying "it looked a little scratched." Lol!

What a comany.  When my first PSX died (what else would you expect) $ony pretty much told me to stick it up my a$$.

General Gaming / RE: Scared by the Ps2 lineup at E3

Well, don't be too worried.  EA has some of the best sports games and it announced a 35 game deal w/ Nintendo.
Still you do have one point about the basketball titles.   I would much rather have the completely superior Nba2k series on my Cube than the EA hoop titles.  Oh well, I guess in this case, I have to settle for second best

Bobby B you are a brainwashed $ony goon.  I'm sorry to say that, but it's true.  I've noticed that about hardcore $ony fans, they hate everything that is not their own system.  I own a ps2 but am I blind to the truth?  Absolutely not!  Also why would such a rabis $ony fan need to come to a site that deal mainly w/ Nintendo.  Seriously, I think your views motivated solely on the fact that you hate Nintendo.

Also, you openly admitted that you were not at the show, so their for you hold no credibility.  I was and it was my fifth.  $ony came in last in this years show.

As far as MGS is concerned.  I have never played a better game w/ a worse story in my life!  Is Hideo Kojima insane?!
MGS 2 was as bad as his other horrible "masterpeice" Zone of the Enders.  A game where players controlled giant robots from inside the robots penis, um I mean cockpit, oh sh** never mind......

General Gaming / RE: Anyone else think Nintendo had a lame show?
« on: May 17, 2003, 03:21:58 PM »
Well I would take the opinion of a man who calls himself a child of lucifer, nothing says credibility more than identifying yourself w/ the ultimate image of evil. (sarcassm) I don't know man.....

Anyway, who said Nintendo was third, thats far from the truth. About 1.4 million units away from the truth actually.  Didn't you read any of the press?  What about the business page or the WSJ?  Even when Nintendo was behind in the numbers the X-box was losing $140 per system! lol!  Now that number is more like $100 a system, ever since micrsoft decided to get cheap w/ their parts.  Plus X-box sells the fewest games of the big three.  Wanna know why?  They suck!

I'm beggining to wonder if any of the Nintendo bashers in this thread were even at the F**king show!

It may have seemed like an average show to some, but that is because next year is going to be one of the biggest "do or die" shows in E3 history.  This is the calm before the storm.  Next year we will see the Gta series on GameCube and X-box, plus there's that rumor about the Final Fantasy 7 remake for GameCube.

I think all three companies have something really big up their sleves.

Soul Caliber 2, Star Wars: Rouge Squadron 3, and I would say Halo 2 as well, but it was far from being complete, or even playable for that matter.

General Gaming / RE: Anyone else think Nintendo had a lame show?
« on: May 16, 2003, 04:25:40 PM »
I agree w/ RickPowers, everyone had a really flat show.  Still I can't believe that anyone could think that Microsoft had a good show.  They had tons of lame titles, especially those made by rare, and they filled dead floor space w/ old games that no-one played.

$ony was just a joke.  Eight years of playing the same crappy, unchanging, GT series titles.  Also even though I'm a big Castlevania fan, the new title reminded me of the horrible N64 titles and the camera (which could not be controlled!) really sucked!  I can see the reviews now, all 5's and 6's.  It's an average title at best.

Plus as far as PSP is concerned, it was nowhere to be seen.  It's also rumored to cost over $150!  Finally I wonder if it will break down just after your warranty expires.  As that seems to be the way $ony designs all of its systems.  I have very little faith in their vapor-ware hand held.

Bobby B, you are obviously an uninformed gamer, I'm sorry to say.  I work as a retail buyer for a major chain store.  One thing game company employees love to do it gossip.  The FF remake rumor has been going around for a while.

Also I must say that I own every console from Atari 2600 to X-box.  I have an entertainment system that houses 8 game systems, all connected to one fantastic Mistubishi TV.  Again, I'm not a fan boy, more of a game loving realist who has sen companies come and go.  So many other companies were once at the top, everyone falls, $ony is no different.  I predict that when the next round of system wars begins, PS3 will not be the market leader.

Also one more thing, please don't take any of my comments personally.  I do not intend to offend or insult anyone.  Doing so would be ridiculous.  Were all gamers, so therefore, we are all in the same family

Peace!

Bobby B. Company of the show? $ony?  Ha ha ha ha ha.  Are you and I at the same show?!  They have the lowest booth attendance and their best franchises have run their course.  And as far as MGS3 is concerned, I wonder if it will have the same horrible story as the previous game?

Rockstar can't wait to get out of their exclusive deal w/ $ony.  This is public knowledge.  Rockstar openly states that their deal w/ $ony cost them millions of dollars in the long run. What appeared to be a good deal for them at first ended up screwing them, and all gamers,  in the end.  The second that deal ends GTA3,Vice City, and GTA "NEXT", will appear on ALL competing systems, including Gamecube, and who knows, maybe even GBA?  $ony knows this and their sh*ttting their pants, because besides Final Fantasy, it's all they have. And w/ crazy rumors like SquareEnix doing remakes of certain F.F. games for GameCube, they may not even have FF for long.

As for Microsoft, yes I greatly anticipate Halo 2.  In fact I can't wait.  Still be the time it comes out in late 2004, their will be many, many games just like it.  Plus, I have never been blow away by Halo 2's supposed graphical prowess.  You see many games like it running on middle of the road p.c.'s all the time.  Also as far as Doom3 and Half Life 2, their was no sign of an X-box version of either game.  Just PC footage and mostly un-revealing trailers at that.

Also if you happen to catch Halo 2's private screening, note that the developer says that the game is "real time," and that he is "playing" the game.  Yet when I saw the demonstraion twice, he made the exact same moves both times.  Also those same moves were identical to the early footage of the game I have seen on the net.  Plus I sat in the front row and he really didn't seem to be moving his fingers much.  Hmmm

Actually in my personal opinion, Conker "whatever", looks like a dressed up N64 game. Kameo Elements of power just plain sucks and Microsoft got screwed w/ the worst exclusive character for their version of Soul Caliber 2.  Spawn plays horribly (I'd love to kick his ass w/ Heihaci or Link), and he's just a crappy character to begin w/.

Microsoft actually had to fill dead floor space w/ old games such as Halo and Steel Batallion.

In the end, I think that no-one was the winner of of this years E3.  Every where you went it was business as usual.  This is the quiet before the storm.  If their was a winner it was the comeback kid, Nintendo.  Plus Sega, although now just a third party, had a great showing, as did Konami and Namco.  Microsoft gets a strong second place for Halo 2 and the possiblity of D3 and eventually Half Life 2. (Although I'll probably play it on PC)

Btw, Bobby B, GT4 doesn't even come close to being a contender for game of the show.  If their was one title that screamed lack of originality, this was it.  8 freaking years of the same GT game over and over again.  At least Mario changes, lol.  Also GT4 is a niche game, that doesn't appeal to all gamers.

Well, in the end who really cares what either of us thinks right? lol!  Also, really sorry about the long post, I just had a lot of dirt to dish.

Enjoy the show!

All I can say is that Zelda:Four Swords is a total blast.  Don't know about Tetr's trackers though, as I have not yet played it.

Are you kidding me mario?  What show are you watching?  Plus I guess you don't read the financial news fo you?
Nintendo is doing anything but sinking, infact they own the top three spots in software sales.

Microsoft has nothing, $ony has nothing.

I've followed Nintendo for over 15 years.  They have so much up their sleeves it's not even funny.  By the looks of things, their E3 selection seems to be the best of the big three.  I can't wait until tommorrow to find out for myself!

I wouldn't worry about $ony, the psp, or even Microsoft for that matter.  All Microsoft has is three good games, Halo 2, Doom 3, and Half Life 2, and they are all first person shooters.   Talk about originality  Not to mention the fact that Halo2 isn't coming out until Christmas 2004!  Will anyone even care by then?

The Ps2's lineup is weaker that it has ever been.  Their best franchises have run their course, and $ony itself couldn't make a good game if it wanted to.

As for the psp, by the time it reaches the market, GBA:Sp will have sold another 10-20 million units worldwide.  It has all the developers, the support of retailers and consumers alike, and a huge installed base.  I wouldn't worry at all.

I have two predictions.  First Nintendo OWNS this years E3

Second:  This is $ony's last round at the top

(The Wall Street Journal Predicts that $ony will loose HALF of it's current installed base to either Nintendo or Microsoft, during the next round of console wars.  Several years ago they predicted that $ony would steal a large portion of Nintendo's market share.  This prediction obviously came to pass.  Now we wait while their next prediction unfolds)

General Gaming / "Wheel of Mario" not at this years E3?
« on: May 12, 2003, 06:07:20 PM »
Ok, I just have one more question for you all.  While attempting to spy on the construction of Nintendo's E3 booth, I noticed that I saw no signs of the famous "Wheel of Mario" giveaway game.  Now I know it's still early, but I would be seriously disappointed to hear that the "Wheel of Mario" was not returning.

Does anyone know the answer to this mystery?

General Gaming / Miyamoto's Next Game, will it be at the show?
« on: May 12, 2003, 05:47:41 PM »
Hello everyone.  I was recently reading an article over at another game site when I came across an article that mentioned Miyamoto's next game.  After reading some of the posts in this forum, I've come to realize that some of you are quite well informed on the ways of the Big N.  So here's my question.  What is Miyamoto's next game?  What is it's strange concept?  And will it be at the show?

Thanks very much for your replies

Enjoy the Show!
