Nintendo Gaming / RE: Mario Party 4 or Super Monkey Ball 2???
« on: June 04, 2003, 11:04:25 PM »
Actually, you can get both Super Monkey Ball 1+2($20+$30) for the price of Mario Party 4($50).  I'd go with SMB all the way!

Stimutacs, usually I wouldn't read a post that long, but you make some good points.  Forgive me if I seem a bit edgy when it comes to Nintendo bashing.  I am in no way a complete Nintendo "fan-boy."  I just get sick of all the anti Nintendo whining I hear from people on this board.  It seems like $ony fans have nothing better to do than come to rival sites and complain.  I'm at least glad you're not one of that bunch.

As for Wario.  It's at best an average game.   The real star of the show is that peice of video crack entitled "WarioWare."
It's worth owning a GBA just for that game.  Well, that and the upcoming FF:CC.  Who knows what other SquareEnix goodies we might see in the future on GBA?!

Paldin, you may be correct that the GameBoy "Future" could launch before Nintendo's Next console.  I actually think that Nintendo is doing a classic poker players manuver.  They are waiting for $ony to show it's hand with the Psp, and then they will turn around and completely outshine the Psp with their own GameBoy "Future."

Dude, all I can say is that these people are right.  RS3 looks absolutely fricken' amazing.  Personally, I think that comment about the graphics being "unimpressive" was possible the dumbest thing I have heard all day.

and no, I am not polite

Nintendo Gaming / RE: GameCube controller, Really hurts...
« on: June 03, 2003, 02:27:00 PM »
Dude, are we on the same planet?  I hate the PS2 controller.  It's D-pad is the WORST for fight games, especially
2-d.

Also, that D-pad is the worst thumb grinder I have ever seen.  My thumb litterallly aches after using the ps2 d-pad.  Plus their "off center" control sticks also cause me great pain. Give me a WaveBird, Dreamcast Controller, or an X-box Controller-S any day over that ps2 peice of crap.  Hopefully, if the rumors are true, the PS3 controller will be a complete redisign, probably a rip-off of the best attributes of other, better controllers from rival companies.

Still, no controller can be worse than the original X-box controller.  That thing was like playing games with a giant meatball.
I could litterally use it to club small animals.  Also, that controller caused myself, and almost every one of my Halo playing friends, serious pain that we all dubbed "X-box-itis."  Even when I think about it, it still causes me pain.  Ouch!!!

Seriously, what you just said has nothing to do with the topic at hand.  I truly think that if all the whiny, Nintendo bashing, haters on this board dislike Nintendo so much, why don't they just go somewhere else?

(Answer:  they know Nintendo is the BEST, and at least one of this boards participants is actually a low level $ony publicist.  I worked for them in college, they do stuff like that, trust me.  They also invent, imaginary film reviewers, but thats a different story.)

Also, have you even played Final Fantasy:Crystal Chronicles?!  Well, have you?!!!  It doesn't just have the potential to be amazing, it IS TOTALLY F**KING AMAZING!!!!!!  I couldn't put it down at E3, and neither could anyone else for that matter.
And that includes the MANY $ony employes/losers who I say playing the game all three days.

This is the first FF game that I am truly excited about.  And now that Square is heading back to where it belongs, who knows what other hand held marvels we will see on the GameBoy "FUTURE." (The current code name of choice for the next GameBoy)

Any one of the dozens and dozens of $10 psx games.  The worst one of all being "special ops."

I actually believe that the GBA:SP is only intended to have a brief run.  It's a "hold over system" until the real, next gen GameBoy arrives.  GBA:SP in many ways is like GameBoy Pocket, a clever redesign that will be obsolete in two years.

By the way, I love the GBA:SP, and I would own one in every color they make if I could.

It is the perfect, portable gaming device.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Nokia N-Gage v.s Game Boy Advance SP
« on: June 02, 2003, 10:36:35 PM »
The Nokia N-gage is possibly the worst handheld gaming device ever created.  I am totally serious.  I expect this thing to fail is a big way.   At E3, I tried every game they had and all I can say is this, I couldn't get away from their booth fast enough.  Just thinking about that ultra crappy "tomb raider" game on that sh*tty, postage stamp sized screen, make me ill.

34
Lol, good point Darquiem.  I'm also glad that somebody here has a better memory than me.

Your right their AiAi.  That's what intrigues me the most.  You know Nintendo has got to have something special up their sleeves.  Unfortunately, they are such a secretive company that getting any hints on the next GameBoy is near impossible.
All we really know is that they are working on it, and that it will be out possibly in 2005.  Just a year, or possibly less, after the launch of the $ony handheld.

I love the "paper style" of the first game.  I am so glad to hear that we are due for a sequel.  Nice find SuperLink!

My memory sucks, so I can't give you an exact quote.  I'm actually looking for some solid proof for you.  However, all I can say is this, if you played Mgs2, you know what I'm talking about.

As for the horrible Z.O.E., in one cut scene, when your robot is launching up into the sky, the "cockpit" points upwars like an errect phallus.  By the way, I only bought this game for the MGS2 demo.  It was the most expensive demo I have ever purchased.

I too have played the Metal Gear series from the begging, including that GBC version.  I actually really like the game play, its an awesome game engine.  Still the stories and all the useless dialoge really hamper the series.  I hope that MGS3 and MGS:TTS stick to the action and leave the esoteric dialoge behind.  I too am looking forward to both games.

Thanks for listening

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Is your GameCube not working?
« on: May 31, 2003, 04:27:07 PM »
I've told this story before, so I'll keep it brief.  My friend was having the same problem.  He called Nintendo and they sent him to a local authorized repair center. (Lake Electronics in Albany, NY)  Not only did they fix it for free, but they also dropped it off at his house.  Plus as an added bonus, they replaced the "disc" on the console lid saying "it looked a little scratched."  Also I might add that my friends GC was beyond the limit of his warranty.  That's customer service.

I also must say that my GC has seen hundreds of hours worth of play.  It has traveled back and forth between two coasts over 7 times and not once have I had the slightest trouble with it.

Unlike my first PSX and my second PSX and now my Ps2.  All of which have disc read errors.  I actually turned my first PSX into an ashtray.

Still if you think thats bad, I have another friend, whose X-box literally started smouldering, even though it was not turned on.  He came into his living room and smelled something funny.  He traced the odor to his X-box and found out that his system was now dead.

I just read throgh this whole freaking thread. (Phew!)  ANd aside from BobbyB's rampant $ony fanboyism, (Honestly I don't understand why someone who loves $ony so much feels the need to come to a Nintendo site?) many of you have some really good points.

The only thing you didn't mention was the problem that troubles me the most with the MGS titles.  Their gameplay, although excellent, is seriously, signifigantly, hampered by the HORRENDOUS Stories!

I mean come on!  I have played every MGS game to date and they just keep getting worse.  Overly talky useless esoteric dialog.  Crazy things like Otacon having sex with his (step) mother, etc...

I personally think Hideo Kojima is sick in his head.  I mean just look at Z.O.E. , a game where you control a giant robot from inside its "giant robot member."  The damn thing even gets errect.

I can only hope that Miyamoto's involvement will help out the series.  They have a great gameplay engine and some of the worst stories I have ever seen.

Nintendo Gaming / Game-Boy "Next"
« on: May 31, 2003, 03:22:29 PM »
It's been rumored to be released in 2005, just a year after $ony's Psp.  Serveral hints have already been dropped that Nintendo is already well under way with it's design.

What do you think it will be like?  Will it have cartridges or will it go in the direction of $ony's machine and use optical storage instead?

Plus what do you think of things like wiresless connectivity?

Also, everyone knows that game companies all like to spy on each other.  It's called corporate espionage.  So you know that Nintendo knew about the Psp probably before anyone in the "so-called" Electronic Video Game Media.

What do you think they will have in store for their biggest competitor?

General Gaming / RE: Sony announces... the PSX!?
« on: May 31, 2003, 03:14:46 PM »
Well I hate to say this, but even $ony's third party games are for the most part either overblown hype (MGS2) or yet another mindless sequel or a Nintendo clone.

I think this machine truly clarifies $ony's feelings toward game consoles.  They see their consoles no differntly than they would a toaster.  It's just a product to make money on, which is of course, all $ony has ever been interested in.  They have no passion for good games and honestly they could care less about the quality of the games played on its systems.

Why else would they release PSX less than a year from the launch of PS3?  $ony's attitude has always been "buy another."

Man get an education, thats far more important.  Without the proper intellectual skills you could wind up like one of those mindless $ony fan boys.

Hey, I just bought this demo disc at Target.  The price was $10.  Worth every penny.  Viewtiful Joe Rules!  This game is seriously old school w/ some incredible next gen flair!  I'm buying that one the day it is released.

General Gaming / RE: Sony announces... the PSX!?
« on: May 31, 2003, 11:15:05 AM »
Nintendo fans rejoice!  With this new PSX, $ony has practically guaranteed a place for Nintendo in the future.  M$ and $ony both share the same philosophy.  They both hate the image of the traditional Video Game System.  In fact $ony has stated that they feel game consoles are "for kids."  This works very well for Nintendo as they will continue to make "game consoles" with great titles instead of spliting their focus on needless crap like websurfing, etc...

Plus this PSX is coming out a year before the PS3.  Also I have heard that PSX will be the model for Ps3.  Which leaves me to wonder, how much will the PS3 cost as every rumor I have heard indicates that the PSX will run for over $600.

You know why $ony feels the need to make stuff like the PSX?  First because M$ has the same idea and secondly neither company can make a good game to save their lives!  LMFAO!!!!!

You know that's true

First of all this thread was started by the forums resident $ony fanboy.  Why is that "$ony Nazi's" feel the need to come into a Nintendo forum?  Could it be the massive insecurities they feel about supporting a company that is totally without creative talent?

Seriously, I would not worry about Psp.  By the time it is released, Nintendo will have sold another 50 million GBA:SP's worldwide.  Plus if you follow video game news closely, you already know that Nintendo's next hand held is due in 2005, and I'm sure "Big N" will use the opportunity to show up $ony and their little Psp.

Plus why is no one mentioning the fact that the Psp is rumored to cost over $200?!  Plus it's made by $ony, a company that is internationally famous for making the worst quality electronics on the market. (Cheapest labor, Cheapest Parts)

General Gaming / RE: Gran Truismo 4 graphics
« on: May 31, 2003, 11:00:07 AM »
First I must say that after playing GT4 at E3, I can't see what all the fuss is about.  The graphics didn't look half as good as all those doctored screenshots that have been posted all over the web.  Plus after playing the game I realized, this is the same exact game as the first, only w/ the exception of online play.  This series hasn't changed in years.

Now I know some of you will say "why mess w/ a good thing?"  Personally I prefer a little innovation with my sequels, especially after all these years.

General Gaming / RE: I need Proof XBOX loses money on systems!!!
« on: May 31, 2003, 10:56:04 AM »
Just read the book "Opening the Box."  It goes in to explicit detail on the fact that in the begining, Microsoft was actually losing around $140 per system.   Now they have cheapened their manufacturing, so that loss is now just above $100 per system.  Also according to Wall Street Journal and the author of "opening", Micro$oft has lost over ONE BILLION DOLLARS since the systems launch.  And they call X-box a "success,"  Lmfao!!!

Doubt my claims?  Please read the book, its available in almost any bookstore.  Hope this helps

Nintendo Gaming / Sonys PSP vs. GBA- Does Nintendo have a chance?
« on: May 29, 2003, 02:03:35 PM »
Wow, where do I even begin w/ this one?  First off I am totally F**king sick of $ony Fan Boys putting up posts like "Nintendo is Doomed."  Ever notice that when you visit a $ony fan site, you don't usually see Nintendo fans saying things like "$ony is doomed."  If they did, they would be flamed heavily by the single minded "$ony Nazi's" that control those boards.  If you fanboys love $ony so much why do you need to come to a Nintendo site?

I briefly interned at $ony Pictures while I was in College.  I found out that their publicity dept. will actually use any means neccessary when attempting to get the $ony message out.  (Including making up non-existant movie reviewers.)  I'm starting to wonder if that includes coming to rival fan sites and posting Idiot Threads like "nintendo is doomed."

With that out of the way, now I can say this.  Although $ony has a strong brand name, for now, GBA is even stronger.  Psp will come a year from now, after Nintendo has sold another 50 million or more, GBA:SP's world wide.
Plus there is the rumored price of the Psp, which has been estimated to be anywhere between $179 to $249!

Finally is everyone forgetting that $ony makes the worst quality electronics on the market today?!  The PSX and the Ps2 are THE poorest quality game machines on the market.  They are made with the cheapest parts and the most inexpensive labor $ony can find.  Plus when they break down, usually just after the warranty expires, the official $ony company line is to blame the consumer! (i.e. "gamers shouldn't play their systems so much")  People are starting to realize that $ony is corrupt and evil.  Will they be willing to shell out around $200 for a handheld of dubious quality?

Plus, you realize that it has already been stated that the "GBA Next" is on it's way.  All of these game companies spy on each other, it's a common practice.  Nintendo knew about the Psp and I'm sure they are well prepared for it.

As for that Microsoft hand held "hokum," I wont even address that pure fiction.  Rare can't even pull it's head out of it's ass long enough support a new handheld, even w/ M$ backing.  Plus the X-box is still losing over $100 per system at retail and no one is buying games.  You'd think they might want to solve that little problem first.

Thanks for your time
