Good, less games for me to buy ;p

But i might have thought about getting Tomb Raider or Bioshock if they would come to WiiU.

Don't work and don't study, kids, be your usual fat slobs and you will succeed over other actually hard working people: the movie.
Stratos is right. And in any case, who cares about a message to the kids? The action was great, the animation was top-notch, I thought it was hilarious, with a likable cast... do you seriously hate the movie because your interpretation is a cynical one?
I just want to finish this up, because i will start to sound like waaay overthinking crazy person raging over a kids movie, but ah well...

It's not only about the message for kids, it's about message for me. Yes, production values were good, but for me it was all undone by shitty main character made worse by plot bending to make him win.

The point is there was no progression for MC. He hadn't learned anything new, in fact he didn't even try. Or he did and gave up instantly cause it's "too hard" for him. He just gave up right away and chose not to work on himself, not to broaden his horizons and do the same thing he always did his entire life. Stuff his face.

But "he was himself!" "That his nature!" His nature is to stay the same and always choosing easiest way out? To never learn new skills? To not even try to work on himself? To give up instantly at the face of the lightest challenge? This is not one's nature or character, it's called laziness and stagnation as an individual.

Even the main mcguffin of the movie spells it out by showing empty manuscript, saying: "There is nothing to learn out there for you. Don't even try. You are a perfect magical snowflake and you're fine as it is".

I have major gripes with this kind attitude and seeing it being preached through this movie simply riles me up.

I fully realize it might sound ridiculous for someone and i am VERY far to being overzealous about my beliefs (i actually laugh at those crazy people protesting against disney/hollywood/whatever it is this month), but it's one thing i just can't, i am physically unable to support.

...

In other news i watched Paranorman. A good puppet animated movie and pretty dark too. The plot is more or less Silent Hill of all things.

Even extremely successful companies like Apple and Amazon are vague with their sales figures and only talk about growth or sales numbers for a product line as a whole instead of releasing information about individual products.
Apple did gave their total sales number for AppStore last year i think? It was in billions, but still very low compared to traditional console/handheld sales.

Also, given how long it'll be until Rayman Legends actually releases, Nintendo would be wise to not do their usual "fixed number of plays" B.S. with that demo.
This.

nintendo pls

Unfortunately i see them setting it at 30 plays D:

Isn't max 30 on 3DS, you can't remove the limit, right?

Will Nintendo ever release sales figures for eShop and Virtual Console games?
Probably not. Sales of retail games on eShop -- maybe, sometime, as they already do in Japan.

The closest we have is coffeewithgames (who has an account here) who provides some data that will give at least the lowest estimate:
Yes, and I try to make sure to never quote anything as "sales" data, unless it's the Virtual Console and WiiWare titles, because then it's easy to do the math on the reported numbers and how much has possibly been made... but even then it's never stated as ALL sold.
Thanks for the site and your work!

Just went through your reports about VC games:
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time has 240,177 Wii owners that have reported game-play data through the Nintendo Channel in the United States, with 1,722 days possibly reported
Super Smash Bros. has 1,126,147 Total Hours of game-play reported, from approximately 71,107 U.S. Wii owners that have reported data
Super Mario Bros. 3 has approximately 798,090 U.S. Wii owners that have reported game-play data through the Nintendo Channel, with 1,701 days reported
Paper Mario has approximately 191,273 U.S. Wii owners that have reported hours through the Nintendo Channel, with 1,862 days possibly reported since the game released
Super Mario 64 has about 305,260 Wii owners that have reported game-play data through the Wii's Nintendo Channel, with 1,772 days possibly reported since it was released.
Super Mario Bros. has approximately 618,052 U.S. Wii owners that have reported game-play hours through the Nintendo Channel, with 2,051 days possibly reported
Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards now has 935,279 Total Hours of gameplay reported, from approximately 89,306 U.S. Wii owners that have reported data through the Wii's Nintendo Channel
F-Zero X has 195,195 Total Hours of gameplay reported, from approximately 31,743 U.S. Wii owners that have reported gameplay hours through the Nintendo Channel since its U.S. release
Approximately 29,551 U.S. Wii owners have reported playing Wave Race 64 through the Wii's Nintendo Channel

Not bad for a bunch of roms, eh?

Nintendo Gaming / Metroid (NES) - stumped
« on: December 09, 2012, 08:15:24 AM »
So yeah. I wanted to know what's the deal with this series and it is easier for me to start from the very beginning so i can see where all elements that make the series came from.

I started playing it this week. And i think i'm stumped. I got rockets, bomb, long laser, one battery. I drew my own map on paper and everything. It was pretty enjoyable up to that point. I discovered two other respawning areas other than the default one but i feel way over my head in both. When i respawn there those fly thingies that come out of the tube kill me one way or another. Especially annoying when you you're get into the door but they still get you between the screens.

It wouldn't be so bad, if i could find any way to progress, but after two days or so of hopeless exploring the same areas i just don't know where to go. I can grind a bit in a safe areas to accumulate some energy but that is pointless when according to my map i've been everywhere and there is no way for me to progress.

I see a few passages that i can't get through now:

one with the sand and a door placed high, i sink in the sand and can't jump high enough to get to it, or maybe i need to double jump i don't know
a few areas with flying bugs and no platforms, i guess i should freeze them and use them as platforms but i don't have freezing ray
i also remember seeing a red rocket door that is placed inside the tower and seems to require double jump or something to get to
and another red rocket door requires me to jump way too high in ball mode than i can at the moment

Of course i can just look up the whole map on internet, but that would spoil me of all exploring.

So what should i do?

Why does the PC version of Scribblenauts Unlimated get all these cool pop culture characters and all we get are a few Nintendo Characters?
We're not getting any PC version in here, so i'll take what i can get.

By cool character you mean officially licensed Scooby Doo and other WB bunch? Is it confirmed they're not in Wii U version?

Watched Rise of the Guardians last night.

Tad childish, but everything else make up for it. Sandman was awesome. Character designs were amazing.

Recommended if you can get past slightly sappy story.

Worse than "How to train your Dragon" but better than "Kung Fu Panda" (not that it is an achievement of any kind).

February will be a packed month if some games don't get delayed, I hope this doesn't get lost in the shuffle.
I expect half of them delayed even more...

3067
Or NoE proactively pursued the publishing rights for Scribblenauts...

Scribblenauts, like Layton, Ace Attorney and others is one of those quasi-Nintendo franchises that were born on DS/GBA/Wii and there is a sizable audience expecting them to stay on Nintendo systems even if they're third party.

It's kinda strange how "easy" WB gave away the rights, considering it's one of their bigger series, and WB as games publishing don't really have THAT much to begin with.

NoE now has: Layton, Inazuma and Scribblenauts.

They should really take over Ace Attorney by this point.

Now we know the reason why it was not at launch here.

Nintendo bought out publishing rights from WB to publish it in PAL exclusively.

Sucks cause i WAS really looking forward to playing it with my friends at launch. Now i have to wait two more months.

Oh, and yeah you can wave goodbye to pc steam version in Europe.

It's still day one from me, but you could have done without the delay, Nintendo.

I just bought this game!

You have to post in the community. I must have impressions of this game!
Who cares about the impressions?

He will be a single person in that Funky Barn community with a box checked confirming he actually owns the game.

He will either be crowned as king of Funky Barn or turned into pariah in there...

PS if you look for impressions Giant Bomb did quick look at the game

I don't get this game. It's just why? all around.

Game & Wario typed in GW font and style. Okay, i see that WarioWare characters are in. But where's Mr Game Watch then?

And 16 games is pathetic.

Hopefully i'm mistaken and it's not a mishandling of two franchises at once and this will turn out to be a good game.

Opening the bidding at Sakamoto-helmed Other M 2. (This way, no matter what happens, I'm happy.)
As I said on Twitter, if this happens I am DONE with Nintendo. I'm fine with another Metroid. I'm fine with even another Metroid game that tried to do what Other M tried (and failed) to do. But no Other M follow-up helmed by Sakamoto. Period.
Okay, now i want this.

I never actually played Other M, nor do i care much about the franchise.
