I tried to gt into that whole Who thing.

I checked out one episode with Ecclestone guy. His mannerisms annoyed me so much i turned it off after 15 minutes.

And it's not really about this actor, because i LOVED his performance in Shadow Line (one of the best mini-series i've seen in years, highly recommended, it's pretty gruesome but actors work in it was almost hyptnotic for me, that's how good it was).

I still don't understand if faulty hit detection is that way because it was that way in the original, or because it's a bug.

Kid Icarus: Uprising not a deep story, but definitely a fun ride
Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door also had a great story from what i can tell from watching Let's Play for an hour or so...
Majora's Mask had great character mini stories in those quests
That storybook thingy from Super Mario Galaxy

But in general, stories in videogames are pure ****.

It's just so much more easier for everyone really, when a game just stops pretending to be anything but a videogame.

So what's in development with Mario now? 3D World, Kart 8, Mario Golf 3DS and Smash?
And Mario Party 3DS.
And Mario & Sonic games.
Two Yoshi games if they count.

You do realize that Nintendo's official Year of Kirby was before the Year of Luigi?

They released two new Kirby games, Kirby collection and had episodes of animated show running on Wiis and 3DSs.

But anyway, HAL laboratory is long overdue to show their hand, they released "Kirby's Adventure Wii" in 2011 and gone completely silent after that.

LOST is a horrible show overall, but it did have some nice moments.

It's a victim of showrunners not having a consistent vision for how the story will go further so they just make it up as they go along and make it more and more retarded in the process, sometimes even completely contradicting themselves by the end. Same was with BSG.

This kinda of drecks really makes me appreciate shows like Avatar: The Last Airbender or mini-series like Lost Room. Creators knew what they wanted to do from the get go and never strayed away from that.

I am about half way through Superman the animated series. It is overall better than Batman TAS, but alot of it is due to the fact STAS didn't have to learn the ropes like Batman did, making Batman more inconsistant. BTAS turning out the way it did is a miracle considering how god awful most 80's cartoons were coming into the early 90's. Serious drama in a cartoon? That's crazy talk. It was so different to everything else at the time they to go learn from the Japanese.

Of course STAS had Dana Delany who even when I watched it originally, sounds sublime as she does now.
I was always repeating that S:TAS is better than BTAS but noone believes me. STAS is even my favourite show in entire DCAU (because horrible season 1 of JL soured me on it's later seasons even though i can appreciate how much big of a jump in quality they made after that).

My favourite episodes in STAS are: World's Finest, Mxyzpixilated, Brave New Metropolis, Knight Time, and of course Late Mr. Kent (my favourite episode in any superhero show, DAT ending).

Yep, basic is a better price proposition for many. I downloaded a fair share eShop games, and will probably download my first digital retail game with Wonderful 101 (so i can play it day one, without waiting weeks in shipping) and it all will still barely account to 100$ and console is almost one year old already. There is just no way i'm going to more than spend 500$ Euros on eShop in the next two years.

Also i prefer white coloured consoles.

Returning to topic.

I used Humble EA bundle thing and got Mirror's Edge, Dead Space 1 and a few other games i don't even remember for 1$.

Also DuckTales on Wii U.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: WiiU external hard drive
« on: August 15, 2013, 11:17:03 PM »
If not i will just use my two old ass 150Gb IDE-hard drives with IDE to USB connectors. It's not gonna look pretty though.
So. Yesterday when DuckTales couldn't fit into Wii U basic fridge space, i finally did it.

It looks like this:

Luckily i managed to hide all that frankenstein thing behind my TV.

First i tried to connect that ancient hard drive to my computer to check if it holds some data i might want to recover from, but it acted up or something and was constantly reconnecting.

Then i gave up on that, and just connected it to Wii U and formatted the whole thing.

It works great so far. Despite that it says it's connected through USB 1 (!), it works at about the same speed as internal memory (Trine 2 loading times are definitely the same).

I had to mess around with saves a bit though, apparently you HAVE to place save and the game data on the same drive, and i honestly would prefer if all my saves went to internal memory, just for safety, in case my old hard drive will die on me.

When i turn my Wii U on, i can hear engine in the hard drive stopping and heads parking, so i think i will be just leaving hard drive power on 24/7, because drive's not working when Wii U is off and because i'm too lazy to mess around with these cables each time.

When i turn Wii U on, it takes some time for hard drive to boot, so Wii U actually boots up faster. Then it shows me some message that i should (re-)connect hard drives only when console is turned off and reboots again. By that time hard drive is fully operational and everything loads up as usual.

Bought the game. I just couldn't not to.

I am reading Barks Donald Duck comic books and i guess that enhances my enjoyment. I am actually loving every second of cutscenes, instead of skipping them.

Apart from unneeded dubstep in Transylvania level, music is also very, very good. Loving the fanservice in gallery and moneybin swimming.

Played about an hour of it, didn't encountered bugs so far.

What's stopping stopping them from keeping the zones on the map but making it one area without loading screens?

Lazyness, intertia or just general hatred of common sense?

Wii U version hard crashes system when browsing leaderboards, and sometimes crashes game when all lives are lost and the game doesn't put you back in the lobby (black screen).
Is the game already available on NA eShop?

Because it's not on european market.

I've seen Giant Bomb footage of it. They crashed two minutes into the game.

Come on, Wayforward, get your game together.

Is map displayed on Gamepad? I've noticed player in GB footage pressing start constantly to see it.

Also, checking the game page on eShop yesterday i noticed that eShop game description only have one-screen screenshots (as in only screenshot for TV, no screenshot for gamepad). I've checked other games then, and none of them had dual screenshots. This is just stupid.

Okay explain this, please.

Why are areas so tiny? Why do we have to see loading screens each time we move from one location to other?

I realize it has some use when you can easily communicate where monster is just by saying the number of an area, but seeing so many loading screens is silly.

I've seen many hours of Monster Hunter gameplay and that's one of the things that bothers me the most.

Monster Hunter to me looks like yet another series who got so much it's own ... history and tropes (Zelda is another example) that it refuses to get with the times and is even somewhat proud of how archaic it is.

For instance that ridiculous small areas thingy is actually exploited by many players, like when monster leaves the area, then you follow him, but after loading screen, when you come to area you come first for some reason and monster comes behind you, so you can use it by setting a mine or something and then luring monster right into it.

This is beyond silly. Abusing uber clunky mechanic and making it official and encouraged mechanic.

using a cable (no drop in the same room, so double-ha!).
Wii U has no LAN socket so there's that. There's always that USB connector thingy though.

Also, get Wonderful 101 demo.

It's uh-mayzing!

Messing with rechargeable batteries is so annoying.

Huge clutter to manage and they lose charge so fast.

On actual topic: it's definitely a good thing that Microsoft changes their policies for the better. But i'm equally uninterested in all launch titles coming from both MS or Sony, so that doesn't make much of a difference.

Apparently people found a way to abuse streetpass relay system by setting something in their wi-fi routers or something.

Will have look into this, but i think it requires hacking firmware or something. Not sure if i want to do this...

First segment feels like that quote from "Dark Knight" about what Gotham needs.

I'm in the same boat as Guillaume. Cloudberry Kingdom just scares me. Some of their videos showed true platforming hell closer to "I wanna be the guy" levels of sadism rather than Super Meat Boy (at least in it's earlier levels cause after Cotton Alley it definitely becomes just as ruthless).

I am tempted to get a 3DS version later (Ubisoft is making one, right?).

I'm think i'm good with Rayman if i want some randomly generated platforming on my Wii U.

2168
Well, Fuse was the last "big" release I can think of that had a demo on the HD consoles.
I don't even remember when that was. So, thanks for proving my point.

At this point, i think retail release having a demo is not guaranteed at all.

2169
A demo? The thing most games get on the other platforms?
What's the last release that had demo on PS3 or Xbox360? Think fast.

And demo WAS indeed something special. I saw this demo was the bet thing happened to Wii U so far.

Can't wait for full game.

Since when 182 cm (google says that's what "six feet" means in normal) is super-freakishly tall... That should goes for folks who are over 2 meters i think.

I never had any problems with using wiimote+nunchuck combo. I played like that while sitting and while lying. Some levels in Mario Galaxy though forced me to stand up partly because i got to psyched up and partly because stakes became way too high i couldn't miss even one movement during pointing segments.

And honestly split setup just feels so much better, you can lie on your bed and have each hand on your side and not fixed on your stomach or whatever.

Yes? It's not that hard?

Either with right stick of touchscreen.

But in general doing circles (to recruit people or for fist morph) is slightly easier with touchscreen. Also, i use your left finger for touchscreen -- not like i i need to move with left stick while i am drawing figures and that way i can press X or A instantly after drawing.

Continuing my Platinum weekend, i was replaying Bayonetta for platinums. Took me many replays and hours but i managed to get platinums on two more levels.

It's looking good for my prospects to get all platinums.

The worst part to get platinums is easily alhfeims (special hidden challenge rooms). First of all they're all hidden and on top of that some of them are extremely hard. I remember how i stubbornly played from 2am to 4am and still couldn't make one particularly devious alfheim earlier this week.

Had to use guide to find alfheims. One of them won't even show up until you destroy one random garbage bin, major bullshit.

Alfheims that put special limitations on you require heavy exploiting of the game mechanics and more often than not -- special weapon or item. They're like puzzles that way, only you're still having trouble executing them even if you theoretically know how to do it.

Still i am so glad i got two more platinums in a day.

I also unexpectedly got a platinum rank on Wonderful 101 demo. This demo is one the best games i played this year already.

Don't care about Ender's game. It's a bad book. Though for some reason i read one of it's many sequels. They're even worse. So much whining, like i couldn't believe.

By the way, how's Jodi Foster in Elysium? She's one of my favorite actresses (not to mention, she tends to pick relatively smart movies to be in) and pretty much the one reason I'd want to see that movie.
Foster was fine. Charlto Kopley's character steals everything that movie has going for it. His villain is just so... villain-y. He really overshadows everyone in that flick.

I finally figured how to use Classic Controller in Wonderful 101 demo. Game became even more wonderful.

Watching playthroughs helped me:

http://youtu.be/eiIWeutoj4Q -- this guy made to platinum using Sword almost exclusively
http://youtu.be/lRdRo5MxaJY -- very useful tutorial

I also found Wonder Pink and Wonder Yellow. Yellow's hammer kinda sucks, it's powerful enough, but it doesn't have any combos or even launcher. Pink's whip i feel is even more useful than Sword, it can cover almost entire screen and it can even fire fireballs somehow.

Reading in-game tutorials helps. I had a real hard time in a stadium with three tanks and they just kept spamming lasers and cannonball at me, Cannonball i could deflect with pudding, but lasers kept destroying me. Thanks to a tutorial hint i now know that Sword can be used to deflect laser beams. Later enemies, scorpions are still very hard.

And they called this mission "Easy A"...
