Thanks, I missed the part about it being posts and not comments.

I don't like the 1 post every 5 minutes restriction.  I have chatted back and forth with people in real time and that restriction would kill any possibility of doing that in the future.

Anybody that says Nintendo isn't hardcore needs to play this series and shut up!

I like being able to search on the pad while watching something on the TV.  The stat tracker for sports right on the gamepad is nice (I don't have a tablet).  I am anticipating interesting comments for big sporting events.  I have a few gripes, but, hey, its free.

There is a lot more to them, so problems are a given.  Plus, people share more on the internet, so each little problem is going to be known about.  Magnifying any problems.

TalkBack / Re: 3DS XL Mario 3D Kart Bundle Coming Dec. 7
« on: November 29, 2012, 07:28:35 PM »
I am so annoyed.  I decided to buy a 3DS XL as soon as it was announced, but I decided to wait for a few months to see if different colors or bundles would show up.  Then, when I didn't see anything interesting for Black Friday, I bought one. Now, a bundle I would have been interested in pops up.  I must have bad karma!

Nintendo Land is great, but I wish there were a few more maps on the three chase games.  Animal Crossing and Mario could definitely benefit from a couple more maps.  Also, I would love to see Mario Land with Sakurai style power ups (that could be turned on or off) for Mario Land.  Giant mushrooms popping up once a game for the chasers, so that for a few seconds one person could see down on the world and guide the other chasers to Mario.  Speed mushrooms for Mario, green shells for the chasers, warp tubes, jump pads, I think additions like these could have taken a really good game and expanded it to awesome.  At the very least more levels would be nice.

I don't know.  My wife who is not a gamer, but will play family type games had no problem with it.  As a matter of fact she said, "this is so much more fun than the Wii."  I do not think that any of the chase games are to hard to understand.  You are really just playing tag and hide and go seek.  Everyone knows those games.  It just takes a few times playing to get the hang of it.

I am really considering just moving my Wii to another TV and not transferring anything.  I am not sure there are any advantages for me in having everything on 1 system.  So until they make the games playable on the game pad I will leave things as they are.

I haven't played many of the games yet but Animal Crossing has been a big hit at our house.  The solo games have so far been little more than distractions.

Just got home from work and can't wait to try Mickey.  This has been my most anticipated game for the 3DS this fall.  I never played the first one and I think that is why I am interested.

I'm going with Pushmo HD and other eshop releases.  Nintendo hasn't really done much for small digital games lately, that I can think of.  Don't forget Miyamoto is supposedly working on something.  My bet is some new eshop IP.

TalkBack / Re: Wii U Not Selling at Loss, Nintendo Believes in Value
« on: September 24, 2012, 10:10:07 PM »
I think Nintendo tries to make the best product they can in the $250-300 range that will make them money and provide a unique experience for their customers.  I don't think anyone should have a problem with that, and if you do there is always the competition that doesn't take shortcuts on technology, but also doesn't always provide the best experiences.  A variety of choices for the customer is what is important.

TalkBack / Re: All of the Wii U Critics Are Right (and I Don't Care)
« on: September 24, 2012, 09:57:00 PM »
I am usually a cynical person, but a lot of the gaming press has gone a little overboard with their critiques of the Wii U.  That was why I was overjoyed to come across Jim Sterlings latest "Jimquisition" and how relatively positive it was about the Wii U.  I then read a couple of articles by Emily Rogers about the rising costs of games and the decline of Sony.  Both of these articles gave me a positive feeling about the future of Nintendo.

Both writers pointed to the lower production costs for the Wii U and how this could be a major plus for the Wii U's future.  (Of course it was pointed out this hadn't helped the Wii a whole lot)  The decline of Sony article didn't specifically discuss Nintendo, but when you see how mismanaged Sony has been over the passed several years it gives some credence to the way Nintendo has ran their business over the same period. (For the record I am not a Sony hater and don't want them to fail.)

To my mind blockbuster games that run into the 100s of millions of dollars to make are ridiculous as are systems like the PS3 and Vita that take years to recuperate their costs.  So while Nintendo has a lot of flaws, I am right with Andi (and Emily and Jim) in seeing silver linings in the upcoming Wii U release.  It is a shame so much of the industry can only see dark clouds.

RMC at gonintendo.com asked about the sleeve versus case question for Nintendo Land and the rep replied something like, " We are not sure. We are taking input on that." or at least that is how I remember it. Sleeves suck.

My only concern is that now we have three games that seem very similar-Mario, Luigi, Animal Crossing.  I  just worry that the, chase me, catch me, find me game play elements may start to feel very similar.  Have you noticed any of this in your time with these games

TalkBack / Re: Wii U Titles Set for $59.99 Retail
« on: September 13, 2012, 07:57:09 PM »
I think this is going to scare off some of the casual market.  One of the biggest appeals of the Wii is it was cheaper all the way around.  Maybe this made it look like a second class system to the hardcore gamer, but to soccer moms' it looked like a great birthday present.

Ouch!! When you combine this with the prices of the Wiimotes not changing it looks like they want to make up all of their lost revenues on peripherals.  Didn't I see the the Gamepad was going to sell for like $170 in Japan?  Double ouch!!!

TalkBack / Re: Casual Encounter
« on: September 11, 2012, 08:18:03 PM »
I almost wonder if Nintendo would be better off not releasing a Wii U Sports right away.  They are going to sell plenty of systems this Christmas to early adopters (probably).  Then next Christmas almost have a second release with WiiU Sports to bring in the casual market.  Also, by then some of the kids have experienced Nintendo Land at a neighbors house and want it creating even more demand.

And as we know the launch is the best time to release a new property like Nintendo Land why overshadow it with a proven product like Wii U Sports.

As an aside if Nintendo Land doesn't have dlc by next Christmas then Nintendo needs a boot to the head.

How about a Mario game like March of the Minis where everything is touch controlled?  Use the stylus to draw lines and other useful items like in Canvas Curse.  I enjoy these games and think that some kind of re-imagining with multi-player could be fun.  Of course I have no idea how multi-player would work.

I am also hoping they say something like, "Let's check out some upcoming games," and they show a sizzle reel of previously unannounced 3rd party games.
