Nintendo Gaming / PIKMIN 2 screens (and kirbys air ride screens)
« on: February 25, 2003, 12:17:36 PM »
It looks like Pikmin 2 and Kirby's Air Ride could be the LAN games that PGC was talking about.

if you look at this Pikmin pic, there is no split screen. Maybe they combine the screens if they are close, but I highly doubt that.

I mentioned Kirby because it was announce the same time as Pikmin and I remember it having a 4 player split screen.

Nintendo does not make most of their money on the GBA.

Here is net sales from Nintendo financial report (# in millions of Yen):
2002 (Mar 01 - Mar 02)
Console
Software - 63,858
Handheld
Software - 164,799

2001 (Mar 00 - Mar 01)
Console
Software - 129,392
Handheld
Software - 139,468

The n64 was about dead and no GameCube and consoles almost made just as much as handhelds. In the 2002 report, GBA launched in the summer and GameCube launched in Nov so sales should be higher. It wouldn't surprise me that Nintendos shows they made more money in console software than handheld software in their 2003 report.

Wait til E3

The only solid information is Camolet is developer and Nintendo is publisher. The biggest rumor is it will be online.

Nintendo Gaming / Miyamoto confirms new Zelda title for GBA
« on: February 24, 2003, 05:46:29 PM »
EAD makes most of Nintendo's GCN games. Miyamoto is general manager of EAD and he overlooks all their games.

NSider has a great feature showing Nintendo's development teams.

Nintendo Gaming / IGN reports the next Triforce game
« on: February 24, 2003, 06:32:40 AM »
This game looks to be arcade only. Looking at the cards, it doesn't support the e-reader. The game seems popular because it was second behind F-Zero in popularity at AOU 2003.

Nintendo Gaming / Cube Online Discussion

XBox live is peer to peer. I don't know if all games are, but I know that the capcom fighter is peer to peer. That is why their is some lag in the game.

Nintendo Gaming / Cube Online Discussion
« on: February 23, 2003, 07:29:58 PM »
Nintendo is going to use a peer to peer for online. That is how its setup for PS2 and XBox live. I doubt that Nintendo would spend the extra money to use dedicated servers.

Here is what I think that Nintendo should do to cover the cost of online gaming:

Charge $10 extra for online gaming. People will still buy the game at $60.
Profits from online accesories (modems, wave keyboard, wave headset, etc.)

Nintendo Gaming / Wind Waker Commercial

there are threads that already talk about Nintendo's advertising. they even talk about the Zelda commercial.

Good Marketing, Nintendo

Nintendo Gaming / THQ jumping ship as well
« on: February 23, 2003, 05:36:16 PM »
How many threads are there about THQ cancelling games?

THQ is just cutting the crappy games. The fact that they announced Sphinx recently shows their support isn't going anywhere.

Nintendo Gaming / GBA vs GBA SP
« on: February 23, 2003, 12:28:36 PM »
I would get a GBA SP. The front light alone makes it a better purchase than the GBA.

All the specs are the same for the GBA SP.

Nintendo Gaming / What do you think Nintendo's big holiday game will be?
« on: February 22, 2003, 10:11:26 AM »
Mario Kart will be the best selling game in 2003.

Here is why:

GameCube = multiplayer. Games like Smash Bros and Mario Party are having a huge success on GameCube.
Mario Kart is probable as big if not bigger than the Mario series and Zelda series.
Mario Kart appeals to the casual gamer.

Nintendo Gaming / Nintendo Puzzle Collection
« on: February 21, 2003, 05:39:31 PM »
Animal Crossing doesn't allow you to download the NES games to the GBA. You can play the games only on GameCube. The eReader lets you swipe cards to play games on your GBA. You can download the Nintendo Puzzle Collection games to your GBA.

The GBA has internal ram where the game gets downloaded. You would have to keep the GBA on or else the game is gone. You can use the GBA sleep mode and the game will still be there.

Nintendo Gaming / Another Fragging Cancelation
« on: February 21, 2003, 03:51:09 PM »
its wakeboarding. I think that surfing and BMX are more popular than wakeboarding and KELLY SLATER PRO SURF and MAT HOFFMANS PRO BMX2 sold terrible on all three consoles. The GCN version sold the worse. It is a smart move on Activision because I don't think this game could have sold 2000.

Nintendo Gaming / Miyamoto interview! Heaps of news!
« on: February 21, 2003, 03:42:16 PM »
Why should Nintendo stop making GCN-GBA link games? It is a unique feature to the GameCube. Its like telling Microsoft to stop making XBox live games. Some developers are starting to use the connection in innovative ways. Ubi Soft is using it for Rayman and Splinter Cell. The GCN-GBA won't bring GTA sales to GameCube? One word: Pokemon. If only a quarter of pokemon r/s owners in japan bought the GCN version, the GCN version would be a million seller.

The Japan F-Zero site is up. The have a couple screens and a video. The video is like 3 min long and it looks good. They also show what the cabinet looks like. I can't wait.

I can't believe that Lik Sang did not test this. They put it in a burning fire, kick it against a wall, and dropped it off a the top of a building, but they didn't put it in a cloth sack with a bunch of gba games.

That is what I'm hearing from other boards.

Nintendo Gaming / New commercial
« on: February 20, 2003, 07:28:35 AM »
I heard that Nintendo advertised on the finale of Joe Millionaire. Joe Millionaire drew huge ratings.

Quote

Advertisers reportedly paid up to $500,000 for each 30-second commercial spot during "Joe's"  finale.

Nintendo spent a lot. Hopefully, it will pay off.

Yes and nobody like the mature Mario. Super Mario Sunshine was set in a more real world. Mario didn't give the V sign in Sunshine. It was replaced with Shine Get! (NOA should have left it in).

Nintendo Gaming / Dengeki Charts
« on: February 20, 2003, 06:50:05 AM »
Dengeki and Media Create both count number sold. They get different numbers because they sample from different stores. The NPD charts sample about 60% of the US market. They extrapolate their data to come up with other 40%. If another company samples 50% of the US company, they would have different data then the NPD charts.

Zelda sales are higher on Media Crete than Dengeki, but Pokemon is higher on Dengeki charts. The official sales that companies use is media create. I only have access to the top ten each week so I don't post them. Dengeki charts are top 50 and give out the total sales with the weekly sales.
