"Saying you're going to sell 10 million GameCubes and then only selling 5.6 million is embarrassing."

The funny part is Microsoft is also going to probable miss their forcast by a lot.

Nintendo Gaming / Something New from the Big N
« on: April 11, 2003, 04:49:11 PM »
Usually new games appear at the beginning and end of a system life. At the end of the n64 life, there were a bunch of new games. Many people didn't get to play this games (like Animal Crossing) because the n64 was dead. People expect Mario and Zelda to be on the GameCube so they have to develop them first. Not that their out of the way, Nintendo can focus on the new games.

TalkBack / Xbox Price Cuts Looming; Nintendo Unfazed
« on: April 11, 2003, 03:23:58 PM »
This price cut has more to due with Microsoft saving face. Reports are saying Microsoft will miss their forcast of 9 million for the fiscal year. Nintendo know they were going to miss their forcast and started free game bundle to help sales. It seems Microsoft is doing the same thing with the price cut.

read the rules. You can't bump topics especially after one minute.

Lowering the fees will attract any third parties. It doesn't matter if they make mature games or not.

Nintendo Gaming / Nintendo lowers profit expectations... again
« on: April 07, 2003, 09:26:47 PM »
did you even read the article?

Quote

Citing poor demand for its mainstay GameCube console at home and abroad, the company trimmed its group sales estimates to 500 billion yen from 600 billion yen. "Demand for the GameCube console was significantly lower than our expectation," a company spokesman said, putting console sales for the full year at 5.6 million units, far below its target of 10 million units.

The reason why they didn't make as much money is because of lackluster GameCube sales.

Nintendo forcast 10 million units by the end of the fiscal year (March 31).

Fiscal year 2002 - 5.6 million
Fiscal year 2001 - 3.8 million
Total - 9.4 million

Iwata said in Jan that they were going to miss their forcast by 10% so 9.4 million is about right.

The price cut and lackluster sales of GameCube systems lowered Nintendo's profit. I think that Nintendo didn't expect to cut the price of the GameCube so soon.

Nintendo Gaming / NEW GAMECUBE GAME........... READ!
« on: April 07, 2003, 09:49:53 AM »
He said "Why would Nintendo do that when they can sell us "Advance" versions of the games for thirty bucks a pop?"

Nintendo knows people would buy the GBA games. They make more money making ports than slapping all the games on one disc. Also, they already did something like this, it was called Super Mario All-Stars.

Nintendo Gaming / Is Nintendo Really Smarter Than They Let On?
« on: April 05, 2003, 10:23:58 AM »
I can see F-Zero being bump up to being one of Nintendo's 1st tier franchises (Pokemon, Zelda, Mario, Mario Kart). The game is just jaw dropping. This game has the flash that Denis Dyack said Nintendo and Silicon Knights needs in their games. Being a racing game, the game would appeal more to casual gamers. Also, being multiplayer is a big plus. I think that F-Zero has a chance to outsell Zelda this year, but Mario Kart will be the best selling GameCube game this year.

Nintendo Gaming / Nintendo should pull out of the consol race.
« on: April 04, 2003, 06:09:26 PM »
thats a stupid idea. there is no gurrantee that Nintendo games would sell on ps2 or xbox. By Nintendo ditching consoles and then start a new console would alienate Nintendo fans. Chances are the Nintendo fans would stick with the xbox and ps2.

Your kidding yourself if you think that Zelda, Pokemon, and GBA SP would not be doing a lot better if they were release during the holiday season. It is a slow time of the year and you can see the affect on sales. In Feb, the GCN had a huge jump because of the pack in deal, but it was only a couple of ten thousand units. A huge jump in Nov or Dec is a couple of hundred thousand units. Zelda will probable sell 1 million in a month. Vice City sold like 1.3 million in 4 days. The GBA sold 1 million over thanksgiving weekend. I can't fathom how much the GBASP would sell.

I think that it is important for Nintendo to release games every month. Nintendo should have its 1st tier games like Zelda and Pokemon out during the holidays. They should release 2nd tier games like 1080 during this time.

A big reason why Nintendo release everything this month is because the fiscal year ends March 31. Nintendo has been lowering their forcasts so hopefully Zelda and Pokemon help them meet or exceed their forcast.

PN03 didn't do too bad because Capcom only shipped 20,000. I guess Capcom didn't expect much from the game.

April looks like it could be a good month for GameCube.

April 11, 2003 Naruto
April 25, 2003 Giftpia

Naruto has been getting solid reviews. Being an anime fighter, I think that it could sell well. I don't know how well Giftpia will do. Japan likes RPGs but Giftpia isn't your typical RPG.
