TalkBack / Re: Epic Mickey 2 on 3DS?
« on: March 20, 2012, 05:29:52 PM »
In my opinion, Epic Mickey was one of the best games on Wii in 2010.

I just don't understand the people who hated on this game. The camera only got wonky once or twice, a damn miracle considering the fact that they had to design a camera from the ground up that could deal with constant removal and rebuilding of backgrounds. Everything else was pure gold.

Consider me excited. Damn excited.

Club Nintendo isn't the only one giving out free cards.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/29532

There will be "hundreds of AR cards to collect" when Kid Icarus: Uprising releases on March 23, as stated by Nintendo.

In addition to the previously reported Club Nintendo promotion (offering three cards free to users), and six random cards (out of 20) releasing with the physical game, Nintendo has revealed several other outlets to obtain cards from.

Visiting select GameStop locations during special gameplay sessions on April 14 grants players five AR cards, including Eggplant Wizard, Skyscraper Club, Fireworks Cannon, Minos, and the Fiend’s Cauldron. Those who are among the first to purchase the game from Nintendo World in New York will be given the Three Sacred Treasures card.

In addition, magazines @Gamer, Nintendo Power, and Game Informer will be offering special cards in their April issues. Nintendo Power subscribers get a pack of three cards, including Poseidon, Thanatos - God of Death and Medusa (Battle). Game Informer issues will include The Power of Flight, and @Gamer includes Pit, Pandora - The Goddess of Calamity and Samurai Blade.

Furthermore, PAX East, WonderCon, and GameStop sponsored tournaments will be distributing packs of AR Idol cards. European Club Nintendo users can also receive two packs of AR cards (with six random cards each) for 250 Stars. Whether these packs include the bulk of these "hundreds of cards" is unknown.

Users can get a free pack of cards as part of a promotion for the upcoming title.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/29526

Club Nintendo members can now participate in a promotion to recieve a free pack of AR Idol Cards from Kid Icarus: Uprising for the Nintendo 3DS.

The limited-time promotion (which will be running while supplies last) contains three cards: Great Reaper, Drill Arm, and Palutena (Rare). The cards can be used in AR battles or for display using the 3DS camera.

According to Club Nintendo, the cards will begin shipping within 6-8 weeks, following the launch of Kid Icarus on March 23.

The Japanese publication corrects speculation regarding the sequel status of these upcoming games.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/29522

Pokémon White 2 and Pokémon Black 2 have been given box art and details in the latest issue of CoroCoro.

In the recently leaked magazine scans, pictures of both covers have been shown, reaffirming the assertion that the legendary mascots will be featured on games sharing their primary colors.

The scans also presented information on the direction the games, as reported by users on various Japanese message boards. Black and White 2 are complete sequels to Pokémon Black and White, featuring a new story and new features.

In addition, a new distribution for Keldeo has been announced for Japanese players. Pre-ordering tickets to the upcoming Pokemon movie (starting April 14) grants access to a special Level 15 Keldeo, distributed between June 23 and August 31. Those owning Black, White, Black 2, and White 2 are able to participate, and supposedly unlocks something in the latter two versions.

« on: March 12, 2012, 08:05:09 PM »
This has been on my radar for a few months now, as I really loved Moon and a few other games of RK. They have such a spread-out history that I have no idea which side of the Metacritic scale this thing is going to sit on.

If good, I'll probably pick it up when it drops in price some.

Pokebeach kinda sucks now. They used to get stuff two days before Serebii, but now it's TCG news, movie news, and occasional game stuff quite a while away from Serebii. The sad part is, this was lifted from the main site.

I have to give them credit though -- they did break the original Kyurem form rumors.

TalkBack / Havok Technologies Powering Wii U
« on: March 07, 2012, 07:50:59 PM »

The middleware developer will help power Nintendo's upcoming console.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/29467

Nintendo has licensed Havok Technologies middleware (services provided to software development beyond the operating system) for use on the Wii U.

With the licensing agreement, Wii U software developers will gain access to Havoks Physics and Animation technologies, previously used in the Assassins Creed franchise, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and L.A. Noire.

This week also saw the announcement of a similar licensing agreement between Nintendo and Autodesk, Inc. over Autodesk Gameware technologies.

The Tao dragons will appear to those who had no opportunity to catch them in their original versions.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/29466

Reshiram or Zekrom will be distributed to Pokémon Black and White starting March 10.

The distributed legendary Pokémon is specific to which game a player owns. If the player has Black version (featuring Reshiram as a mascot), they will be given Zekrom, and if the player has white version (featuring Zekrom), they will instead recieve Reshiram.

Both distributed Pokémon come at level 100 in Cherish Balls and adorned with a Wish Ribbon. Zekrom and Reshiram will also have special movesets not normally available in-game. Zekrom will have Bolt Strike, Fusion Bolt, Haze, and Outrage; Reshiram will have Blue Flare, Fusion Flare, Mist, and Draco Meteor. In addition, both creatures will unlock access to new C-Gear skins as well as a special Pokémon Dream World location based on the upcoming film.

The promotion runs until April 8.

TalkBack / Re: Resident Evil Revelaitons: An Observation
« on: March 05, 2012, 09:46:13 AM »
Between shoddy English language titles, a terrible connection to the community, and releasing far too many games and updates with barely any content in them, I would be okay with giving up the Resident Evil series if it meant Capcom never being profitable again.

TalkBack / Ryu Hayabusa and Ayane Appearing in Dynasty Warriors 3DS
« on: March 01, 2012, 12:21:36 PM »

The Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive characters will be making their second appearances in the Warriors franchise.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/29425

Ninja Gaiden's Ryu Hayabusa and Dead or Alive's Ayane will be appearing together as crossover characters in Dynasty Warriors Vs., the upcoming 3DS title now due for Japanese release on April 26.

The Famitsu announcement follows an announcement from Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata on a previous Nintendo Direct broadcast stating that Nintendo characters would be making cameos in the upcoming title. While Famitsu did reveal that Miis would act as support characters, no other characters from Nintendo properties have been revealed. The two characters are also joined by Sengoku characters Sanada Yukimura, Ishida Mitsunari, and Naoe Kanetsugu.

On top of Ayane making a crossover appearance, the first printing of the game will contain download codes for both a judo uniform and a volleyball uniform, the latter being a staple of the Dead or Alive franchise.

The Wii U controller did not always control similarly to 3DS.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/rumor/29413

Nintendo's Wii U controller originally utilized raised analog sticks rather than the Circle Pad made famous on 3DS, as reported in recently unearthed documents published by a NeoGAF user.

The diagrams show the original with a nearly identical design (though some ports and the stylus had slightly different placement), but the analog stick was raised. What led to this decision is unknown, as well as whether the leaked images (which were given no definitive source) are even legitimate.

TalkBack / New Downloadable Games Now Available on Club Nintendo
« on: March 01, 2012, 11:04:19 AM »

Mario Picross and more enter the fray of sort-of-but-not-really free downloadable titles.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/29426

Art Style: CUBELLO, Mario's Picross, and Radar Mission are now available as featured downloadable games on Club Nintendo.

CUBELLO is the only game available for Wii this month, and is priced at 100 Club Nintendo coins. You can read our review for more details on the game.

Mario's Picross and Radar Mission are Virtual Console titles exclusive to the 3DS, and are also priced at 100 coins. All three games on the service will be available through March 31. We recommended both games for fans.

TalkBack / Re: The Binding of Isaac 3DS Release Blocked
« on: February 29, 2012, 08:09:23 AM »
Hey guys, let's back away from religious talk outside of that directly relevant to the article. Thankfully, it hasn't really gotten anywhere yet, but let's try to keep it that way.

Also, if Luigi is right about why the game got blocked (which, from a quick Google search, may be the case), I agree. They would be putting Nintendo in an unfair position to expect an AO game to be published by a company interested in making games playable by all ages, especially if it has policies against such games. Even if a game being adults only is no excuse, taking any stance on religion is a HUGE no-no for Nintendo, sometimes even if the themes are "positive" (remember how many biblical games had to be released unlicensed because Nintendo refused to do so themselves)?

517

The DS games have also been given a tentative release period.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/29403

Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2 have been formally announced for release in North America and Europe.

The announcements were made in two press releases issued by Nintendo announcing the localization, with both territories being given a release date of fall 2012 (which places the release date in either September, October, or November).

Alongside release dates, Nintendo also formally revealed the official websites of the two games (though both websites have existed since the Sunday reveal on Pokémon Smash, a Japanese television program).

Pokémon Black and White Version 2 are sequels to 2011's Pokémon Black and White for Nintendo DS, featuring alternate forms of Kyurem, officially named White Kyurem and Black Kyurem, as mascots.

TalkBack / Re: Pokémon Black and White Sequels Announced
« on: February 27, 2012, 02:01:47 PM »
Yup. I was actually thinking about this earlier today, whether localization becomes a shorter amount of time as a series becomes higher profile. I mean, to copy TJ's post:

Red, Blue: 2 years, 7 months
Yellow, Gold, Silver: 1 year, 1 month
Emerald, FireRed, LeafGreen: 8 months
Crystal, Diamond, Pearl: 7 months
Platinum, HeartGold, SoulSilver, Black, White: 6 months
Ruby, Sapphire: 5 months

------
Black 2, White 2: 3-4 months?

I mean, it's nothing more than a correlation at best, but besides Ruby, Sapphire, and one or two others, there seems to be a quickening of localization as the series progresses. Part of me wonders if Pokemon could soon be like 3D Land (10 days between Japan and US) or Skyward Sword (released in all territories within 6 days).

Be reasonable! To completely revamp this for the 3DS would require every part of the graphics to be overhauled (considering the first one had no consideration for the 3DS screen), and entire new features would have to be added before any of the bonus stuff can even think to exist. If it can go fullscreen on the 3DS, I won't need to break my DSi out, which would be great. One other thing: if it releases in June rather than Septemberish (as usual), methinks this game might come out here before 2013. Especially since it has already been announced for stateside.

I smell news at E3!

TalkBack / Pokémon Black and White Sequels Announced
« on: February 25, 2012, 06:57:00 PM »

The DS will receive not one, but two sequels in Japan later this year.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/29394

Two sequels to Pokémon Black and White have been revealed, titled Pocket Monsters Black 2 and Pocket Monsters White 2, as revealed on the latest episode of Pokémon Smash.

The announcement was made in the last few minutes of the show as Pokémon director Junichi Masuda appeared on the show to reveal two new forms of Kyurem (appearing to be fusions of Kyurem and the two mascot Pokémon, Reshiram and Zekrom), and the titles of the two games. The games will appear on the Nintendo DS and are set for a June release in Japan. The games are also noted to be playable "in 2D on the Nintendo 3DS," though the extent of any extra features remains unknown.

Masuda also revealed the official website for the titles on Twitter soon after the episode. On the North American website, the game has also been revealed as "coming soon." The localized versions will be called "Pokémon White Version 2" and "Pokémon Black Version 2."

Masuda later revealed that the two forms are in fact new legendary Pokémon, and the developer tweeted (in English) that their names are Black Kyurem and White Kyurem.

TalkBack / Re: Dillon's Rolling Western Impressions

LittleIrves, I think "not enamored" is a weird way to put it. If I hate something with a passion 1/4 of the way in, and as you said, "1/4 of the way through the game is plenty time for a preview of sorts", I don't think how angry my opinion is carries any relevance to how valid the preview is. And I still think the pricing is disgusting. Every big 3D eShop title costed less than it, yet, at least in my opinion, just about all of them are significantly better.

You guys are great.

Since purchasing, I got about one fourth through the game, more than enough to publish impressions. As of right now, I'm at stage five (AKA, 14 levels in). I've experienced more than enough of the game to decide that my opinions stand. If you like this game, feel free to defy all odds and continue to do so.
