Nintendo Gaming / Gotcha Force - another Capcome game?
« on: May 05, 2003, 02:56:49 AM »
Yep, that's right folks.  It seems that Capcom is giving us more GC love.

Thanks to The Magic Box, they listed Capcom's E3 lineup, and the only game I've hadn't heard of was Gotcha Force.  I wonder what type of game this is?

Do I have a short term memory span, or is this an unannounced game?

Guys, wouldn’t it be cool if the following happened?

10.00am, 9th May 2003
Live from Parliament House via television and radio:

PM John Howard
“Today, Nintendo Australia and I would like to welcome a special guess from Kyoto, Japan.  This special guess works for Nintendo and has flown over to make a special announcement.  Some of you may know him as the man who is a f**king *bleep* genius.  The man who is a legendary game designer.  The man who created King Kong, errrrrrr sorry, I meant, Donkey Kong, Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda.  I present you, Shigeru Miyamoto.”

*Sony and Microsoft grumble*

Shigeru Miyamoto
“Thank you Mr. John Howard, or if you may, George W. Bush’s Sidekick.  And thank you Nintendo Australia for having me.  It is my pleasure to be here in Australia to celebrate the release of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker for Nintendo GameCube.  I am proud to announce that today, 9th of May 2003 is National Zelda Day.  I encourage all video game fans and least not forget, loyal Nintendo fanboys nationwide, to treat this day as a national holiday.  Our Australia Nintendo fans deserve this special day, for all the painful suffering they went through for having to wait for the PAL release.  Forget about school or work, or other plans you had for today.  And if your girlfriend does not like it, dump her.  Too many things in life get in the way of our precious gaming time and today, you have the chance to spend the day with Zelda.  Go to your local video games store, shell out your hard earned cash for The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker and enjoy the experience the game will give you.  Immerse yourself into a world as you take control of Link.  Call your loved ones and get them to sit with you as you play the game.  And most important of all, *raises fist into the air a la Link*, ZELDA GET!  Thank you.”

*Girls squeal as they yell out: “I love you Shiggy!” and "Shiggy me up!"*

We can only dream…

Gah!
The only way I could get Star Ocean 2: SS here was via an ex-rental sale in Video Ezy ;_;

Yeah, I figured.  Some of my friends who have a PSOne, the only RPG they know is FF.  *sign*  And I'm not interest in FF, I feel it is overhyped and overrated.

Oh yeah man.  I am sooooooooooooo looking forward to Deus Ex: Invincible War.  Deus Ex still remains one of my favourite PC games, it gave me some great gaming moments with its twist in the plot.

Thanks a lot Infernal Monkey.  I now have my avatar load up from my HD on SigUp.com.  Yeah, I know it's hardly original (it's the same one from the ezboard), but it now makes me a complete monkey.  And I look like a happy cheerful person.  Excellent!

X-Men was really good.  I really liked Lady Deathstrike and it would've been nice if she had more of a role in the movie.  I like Asian chicks!

Anyway, Saturday during lunch, I went to my local EB, looking for some PSOne games.  There's like 4 games I'm looking for (RPGs), and they had none, despite the fact they had like 100 used games.  The only RPG was FFVIII.  WTF?  Don't any Australian PS owners play any other RPGs not named FF?  Looks like my only hope is ebay.

Just because someone is a journalist for a PC magazine doesn't mean he/she doesn't play console games.  And it doesn't mean he/she hasn't been a journalist for a console magazine.  Most gaming journalist jump from different gaming magazines.  My favourite journalist, Kieron Gillen, who has been with PC Gamer for serveral years, worked for sister magazine Offical Playstation beforehand.  And MGS was one of his favourite games.  So, it's not like he doesn't know consoles games, and the other journalists for that matter.

I subscribe to the magazine because it is really funny and fun to read (they do really weird and strange features), and I like the fact that the highest score given to a game has been 96% (twice).  I don't believe in giving a game a perfect score (*cough*PGC*cough*).

I was seriously thinking of getting the PC version of Grandia II until I got a Dreamcast.

Anyway, we should stay on topic.

There's 37 games on my GBA list, 52 games on my PS1/2 list (22/30, respectively), and a whopping 59 games on my Gamecube list. I certainly won't buy all these games, but it becomes clear why I own a Gamecube after looking at the list.

heh, I do the same too.  I have it divided into two sections, "Wanted' and "Maybe".  I also don't include rumored games as well.  At time of typing, I have 19 GC, 10 GBA and 7 PC games.  Heck, Metriod Prime is still on the list, I haven't had time to play it.

Infernal Monkey, wow, interesting porn clip from the way you discribed it!
Termin8Anakin, any guy who says doesn't download porn has his nose growing!

And blast.  Tonight was a waste.  My friend who organised the 8-10 of us to see X-Men didn't get the tickets and were sold out.  Then we spent over 30 minutes arguing whether to see the 11pm screening, so which some of us went to the JB HI-FI store and some strange guy came up to us, giving out promo for about some dude speaking at a Church (which I said was the highlight of the night!).  And by the time we lined up, it was sold out.  So we got tickets for Saturday night.

I've noticed from the PC Gamer magazine that Konami having been porting a fair amount of games to the PC.  Lately, these games have been getting bad reviews from the magazine.  What bothers me about some console-to-PC ports is that in some games, and I quote from the magazine: "the code needs to be tailored to suit the destination platform."

ie: you can't even quit some games in a integrated manner.  That is not very classy.  And how hard is it for a programmer to implement that function?

Even one of the biggest complaint about MGS2: Substance on the PC was the control.  Most PC game pads operate differently to the PS2 analogue pad.  I quote from the reivew: "For example, on the PS2, to not fire once you've taken aim with your pistol requires you to slowly ease off with the analogue trigger.  The same's true here.  Clearly, if you don't have an analogue button pad, you're in trouble."  Again, not very classy.

I'm not bashing Konami or console-to-PC ports, in fact, I wish there were more of them, but developers need to make the conversion more successful.

I'm away from this thread for a couple days, and whoa, I'm lost in the shuffle...

Oh, man, one week to go.  Sad, but true.  I'm gonna play OoT first since I've never played it.  And blast, Skies of Arcadia Legends comes out on the same day.  I'll get this game after my exams, and will need to be alone with it for a week, singing "I love SEGA!".  Then I'll play TWW after that.  I need a Zelda break after OoT (I finished A Link to the Past 2 weeks ago), before I play TWW.  What a long wait it will be.

Infernal Monkey, would you mind sharing with us the porn you downloaded?

I'm gonna see X-Men 2 tonite!  yee-ha!

That sure surprised me - being developed by Silicon Knights.  It's like it came out of nowhere.

But it disappoints me.  I like the fact the Nintendo is pushing hard to have MGS on GameCube, but the fact it's not being entirely developed by Konami, just overseeing it, shows they don't really want to put their resource towards the console.

« on: April 29, 2003, 03:14:22 AM »
This is exactly why I avoid buying Sony products.  My family hasn't had a good run with them, and my parent's best friends has 2 Sony TVs, and they break all the time.

My friend who has both a PSOne and PS2, hasn't run into any problems, yet.  Lucky him!

I was thinking about Animal Crossing (population growing!), and what the Nintendo rep said at the Pokemon event at Sydney.  Are you sure he didn't mean Animal Crossing 2 was coming to Australia?  Because there has still been no announcement on the first game release date on their website, and I'm going crazy.  And I really don't wanna get a Freeloader and import the game.

Actually, I was just saying that for the chicks to come to my site. No competition here. Sorry. I just need to dig into my batch of photos from my cousin's wedding last month....now where is it?
Hmmm.....

I was only kidding...

Your TV should accept 60Hz.  TVs we buy these days should have 60Hz mode, unless it's a small or cheap TV.  I know mine does (err, my parent's does), which they got over a year ago, and I made sure it did.

Yeah, sorry 'bout that. Me an AiAi were bored =D

Next time, we will make an effort to tear apart the xbox controllers.  Trust us!

BTW, I can't believe that the Zelda bonus disc only supports 60Hz.  That really is beyond stupid.
And yeah, today I got an appointment time and date from someone, and guess what date it was?  9th of May.  I'm going to have to change the date.  I want to spend that day with Zelda.

Sega, Sega and Sega...

I'm really hoping for some info on Virtua Fighter Quest and Shenmue III.  I doubt Shenmue III will be shown this year, even IF it is in development, but if it is shown (a few screenshots, or a short video clip), I will crap my pants!

Link does not download the whole trailer.  I use GetRight to download video clips, but it only downloaded it as a 2KB mov file (which I guess is a file that is used to upload the trailer).

I usually play around with the links using the source code, and have been successful with many sites, but not the apple quicktime site.  Thanks anyway.
