« on: November 18, 2006, 11:19:16 AM »
Holy crap, I have to spread the news to some more people.

711 is having a contest. You buy a Slurpee you have a chance to win a Wii. They're giving away 711 of them....wait make that 710 plus MINE!!!

Yup, I actually won one of those damn things. I never hear of anyone winning so I thought I'd share the love.

Downfall.....they ship it 6-8 weeks after the contest is over, which is Jan 31.....I can't wait til March, so come March I'll have two Wiis!

Wii is a revolution

Suddenly, videogames are fun for everyone--old or young, male or female, regardless of prior gaming experience. I lost count of how many times I heard non-gamers say, "Wow, I want to get this.

NWR Feedback / RE:Nintendo World Report

I was coming to comment about needing a "next/Previous" button on the image viewer, but I see it's already listed. But ya, add me to that list.

I like the right side of the main page where it says what department it's for i.e. ds, Wii, GBA, etc.

I also like the "x hour(s) ago", nice touch.

Yes the White is nice, but it does kinda make it look like a bogus site, maybe add a touch of color

This "single store" is THE Playstation store....so yeah, they get a bunch.

And Arbok, there's no shelters set up for them but a lot of people brought there own stuff. And they are being nice enough to hand out bathroom passes. But it has been drizziling on and off all day, so yeah that sucks for them.

I was just in the back hallways of the building and saw them pushing around 3 big loads of PS3s on carts. But seeing how each load was about 30 or so systems, I'm assuming there's more...maybe I should go to the loading dock and see if's theres any security down there...heehee

Nintendo Gaming / Costco only ONLINE orders!

according to IGN. IGN

Seeking to avoid the furor that overran its stores with last year's Xbox 360 launch, Costco has decided not to stock the Wii or PS3 in its stores this week. Instead, customers can purchase bundles online at costco.com.

In speaking with a Costco employee, IGN learned that Costco expects to get some bundles in stores by the year's end, but that the initial shipment would only be sold online.

Just a heads up

OK, I probably shouldn't do this, but I will. Gamefly.com is giving away a Wii everyday, if you read the fine print you see that you don't actually have to sign up for their service.

You can enter everyday, trust me I've tried for the past week. But I need to share the love, so here ya go.

Gamefly Wii a day

No spam mail or anything from them, just be sure NOT to click the box unless you want mail from them.

Good luck and if you win, you can thank me!

Well I work at the Metreon and there's a nice big line here, they are estimating around 1000. And the store says it has enough PS3s to cover that many, but not much more. Although they didn't say which versions.

I talked to an EB in oakland and they said they are only getting 6 PS3s, which is less that the amount the preordered. They forced all the employees to cancel their orders company wide. He also said they are only getting enough Wii wo cover the preorders...but hey at least they met the demand for Wii.

OK, it's the EB games in Durham NC that called him. If you're in the area go pick some stuff up. Wonder if they have the controllers yet?

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Walmart Lineups
« on: November 14, 2006, 12:55:33 PM »
If you want one on launch day, you might want to line-up. Although Wii is looking to have much better numbers than the PS3, so you might be able to get a Wii day one without waiting in a long line...other than that, I'd talk to the store, ask when they're getting more and call some other places. You'll probably have no problem picking one up through the week as a lot of people will wait for black friday specials....which I really doubt they'll have any special on Wii or PS3

With Twilight Princess putting such an emphasis on story (as many people are saying), more emphasis should be put on HOW that story is told. Done well, voice acting is a great way to add emotion and depth to a story. If they don't want Link to talk, that's fine, but why not the NPCs?. It's strange seeing such polish put on virtually every aspect of the game, and this part being ignored. The technology is there; I don't understand their excuses.

DISCLAIMER: I will still buy TP at launch and freaking love it. I'm just confused about their reasoning for excluding this potentially impressive feature this time.

All I have to say is that you saw the uproar when Link was not a lefty....think what would happen if there were people talking in the game.

Gamestop only able to fill 60% of PS3 orders....ouch.

Next Generation
And they're saying maybe only 150,000-200,000 total. Double ouch

Which would make sense 60% of 400,000 is 240,000 and gamestop was lowballing it's numbers in the first place

Actually the sad part is I'll be about as far away from wilderness as one can think.

As a matter of fact I'll be less than 40 miles away from the biggest Wii event outside of New York. But sadly it's a family vacation, I'll be in Disneyland, if I cut out to go buy the Wii my family would be super pissed. (maybe I can sneak off at some point) I really wish I could go to the Citywalk event, but I don't think that's gonna work at all.

Come to think of it, aren't they doing a midnight release on Citywalk??? We should be driving right past it at midnight....maybe I can make a quick detour....hmmmmmm

In fact, it's possible that once the PS3 is fully operational, people may want to buy it even if they never plan to play a single game.

So it's NOT fully operational and we're paying $600 for something that won't even play games? hahahaha

Ya, Sony is now saying that they knew this was gonna happen....they just didn't say anything until someone brought it up to them. The quote was
Quote

But Sony Computer Entertainment spokesman Satoshi Fukuoka said some of the 8,000 older games weren't working properly on PS3, making the wrong sounds or images, and some couldn't be played at all.
He declined to give a number for the games that weren't functioning, but he said the same problem is expected when the game console goes on sale in the U.S. Nov. 17. About 16,000 different games have been sold for the PlayStation and PlayStation 2 in North America.
Fukuoka said the problems in playing the older games were not a glitch and had been expected. Sony announced the problem on its Japanese Web page Nov. 11, the day when the PS3 went on sale to lines of eager fans at Japanese retailers.

If you can read the Japan section of PS' website then you can find a list of games not working. Playstation

Makes me wonder why they don't have a list that shows how many...makes me think there's 100s of them that don't work, but they are just hoping no one wants to play them anymore so they make you type in the name as opposed to showing a list.

Next time you should point out to him that the PS3 isn't guaranteed to play all the blu-ray movies. If he doesn't believe you tell him to go to the PS3 website, look under FAQ's, question 10. And laugh in his face about the "cheap" blu-ray player
