Can we maybe have a list of locations that have it, I live in Oakland, CA and I've checked different Best Buys, Game Stops and EB games all over the place including San Francisco, still haven't found one yet.

I'm heading out to a different city tonight (El Cerrito, if you really care) and I know they have a GS there, maybe I'll stop by and check it out. sigh

Funny how on the fact sheets they always fail to mention the fact that some Blu-ray titles will not play on a PS3. If you navigate their website you'll find it.
Quote

Blu-ray discs and other media may not operate properly when played on the PS3 system. This is primarily due to variations in the manufacturing process or encoding of the software.

Wonder if the HD-DVD add on for XBox 360 is gonna have the same problem?

Gamestop and EB starts tomorrow! Juts got the official e-mail.

Quote

Gamestop and EB Games stores will being accepting limited pre-orders for the Nintendo Wii console on Friday, October 13, on a first come first served basis. Due to extremely limited supply, we expect to reach our limit very quickly, most likely in minutes. We will not accept additional pre-orders at that time. To avoid an unnecessary trip we strongly reccomend you call your local store to determine availabilty. A $50 reservation deposit is required, which can be funded with cash, credit or trade. As we cannot control production and shipping issues by the manufacturer, a reservation deposit does not guarantee receipt of a system available to purchase at launch. Reservation/Purchases are limited to 1 per household.

So $50 reserves one for you, most likely they are gonna play it safe and only do a small amount of pre-orders (like amazon did) which is why they say "extremely limited supply" and I wouldn't worry to much about the "does not guarantee receipt of a system available to purchase at launch" I'm pretty sure they are just putting that there to cover their butts.

Also some little extra's in the e-mail.

Trade in 3 Xbox, PS2, Gamecube, PSP, or Nintendo DS games and get an extra $10 trade credit

Trade any games towards the purchase of a Nintendo Wii console or Legend of Zelda: Twighlight Princess (Wii) and recieve an extra 20% trade credit

Both offers expire on October 15 and cannot be combined.....well just trade in the 3 games today and do the extra 20% tomorrow.

5.Eligibility: Open to legal residents of the continental U.S

So there ya go.

Wandering...sorry
Quote

To play, bring the game piece to a participating Toys"R"Us store in the United States between 10/01/06 - 10/28/06

So ya gotta use it by the Oct 28th.

CouchMonkey, ya don't have to go on the show, you just get tickets to watch it.

Here's the other prizes
2nd Prize (25,000): Nintendo Wii $249.99 each. Odds of winning: 1:5,743.
3rd Prize (25,000): Schwinn Bike. ARV $199.99 each. Odds of winning: 1:5,743.
4th Prize (25,000): Nintendo DS Lites. ARV: $129.99 each. Odds of winning: 1: 5,743.
5th Prize (25,000): Sony MP3 Player, ARV: $99.99 each. Odds of winning 1:5,743.
6th Prize (25,000): LeapFrog Explorer Globe, ARV: $89.99 each. Odds of winning: 1:5,743

So you're odds are just as good to win a Wii as it is a Leapfrog thingy. Not to bad. And you have to think those odds are based on how many they send out, not everyone will actually use it. I personaly think I'll be raiding the neighborhood newspaper stands, taking the Toys R Us ad out of every paper I find...heeheehee.

The only downfall is you have to buy something to find out if you're a winner, or

To see if your "NO DEAL" game piece is a winner without a purchase, send an SASE to: "Deal or No Deal NP," c/o Little & King Co., LLC, 31 Merrick Ave., Suite 150, Merrick, NY 11566, no later than 10/22/06. Winners will be confirmed by mail on or about 11/24/06.

But forget all that. I'll take my suitcase in, buy some gum and either win something or get 5% of my gum.

Deal or No Deal

Keep a look out in the mail or newspaper for this!

Quote

Weekly circulars from Oct. 1 to Oct. 28 carry two cut-out game pieces -- shaped like the suitcases used on the program -- that shoppers bring to stores. There, they can turn in either the "Deal" game piece, which awards 10% off one item, or the "No Deal" piece that provides entry into the game. Shoppers opting for "No Deal" have their suitcase scanned to see if they've won a prize or a 5% discount on one item. They can play each week after receiving new game pieces.

The promotion dangles a grand-prize $1 million and a trip to Los Angeles to attend the show. Nintendo Wii game consoles will be awarded to 25,000 entrants.

It would make sense that several Nintendo-developed games (and perhaps some third-party Wii games) would make use of the Miis for them to dedicate a WiiChannel for them.  (I imagine they may be useable in Animal Crossing for the Wii, and other games that may use totally different styles could at least use Mii data to come up with an approximation that fits its style.)

Yeah, I meant Smooth Moves. I couldn't find a posting about it anywhere, but that press site has some other interesting info I might have missed before. Like being able to use the ship in MP3

You can get everything on that list for around $1900 (depending on your tax)

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Wii Pre-Orders & Bundles
« on: September 19, 2006, 01:34:12 PM »
DOAH!!! I found a place that was taking pre-orders for the Wii, no bundle and a cheaper price....$248 (ok, a dollar cheaper) Although I wasn't too sure about this,  I tried e-mailing them today, waited a few hours, then got impaitent and called. Turns out there orders were more than they thought they were gonna get and stopped the presale about 2 hours before I called. They will continue the presale once they know how many they are going to get. Sucks for me, I had to go to the bank to try and get a check cleared, so I couldn't do it.

Atomic Park

They do have the classic controller on there which I haven't seen on others websites, and it's listed for $18.82, same price as the nunchuck is listed for.

They also told me that they would ship it out as soon as they got it, but they don't have any confirmed numbers yet.

Amazon speaks out

Quote

For a brief period on Friday, we did offer pre-orders for the Wii, however, the rate at which pre-orders came in dramatically outpaced what we had anticipated, so we suspended pre-orders until we are able to get a firmer commitment from Nintendo regarding how many units we'll have for sale.

They should have just said at E3. "It will cost less then $300" Or maybe something like "You'll be able to buy at least two of them for the price of a PS3" hahaha. Screw it, I'm ok with the price, I do wish they'd make a controller/nunchuk combo for $50, that's my only gripe

General Gaming / RE:Why I'm going to buy a PS3 on launch day.
« on: September 16, 2006, 05:46:06 PM »
I personally hate that idea. Yes I have thought of doing it in the past, but sometimes, when I try to go to a concert and the tickets are sold out and I try to find one, it's a 100% markup or more. I hate that!!

There are some people that want to own a PS3 at launch (who knows why) and yes they will pay a high price, but why do people have to take such advantage of them. I am a firm believer in what goes around comes around. If you have enough money to buy three PS3's good for you, some people only have enough to buy 1 with no games, so you are screwing them over.

The thought of selling a PS3 for a much higher price did cross my mind, but I won't do it. I just think it's wrong to do so, so I won't be taking a part in it. The thought of owning every launch game for the Wii, plus all controllers made off of my PS3 profit does sound real tempting, but I think it's just wrong.

Wii will makes its debut around the world in only the much-touted white variation, however, more colours are on the way. "Until Spring, we'll have a supply limitation, so we want to avoid the situation where people don't buy because their favorite color isn't available. We'll provide new colors after that. Our aim is a design that's not scary," said Miyamoto.

That's actually kinda smart and true.
