dam all this talk has got me in the mood to dust off my n64 and give paper mario another run lol.  But onto the topic, paper mario 2 looks almost identical to the first cept in higher resolution and of course better colors and whatnot.  From the pics Ive seen, it seems they might still be using the buddy system again.  I agree somewhat wit lan though in the sence that I'll like to see a mario rpg 2 since I loved the snes one.  There was just something special about seein mario run around in an rpg world, visiting towns and having turn based battles with a group.  A little off topic now, if square and nintendo were to get together again to make another colab rpg I think they should skip on mario rpg and make a nintendo rpg somewhat like kingdom hearts but with all of nintendo's franchises.  You can visit the mushroom kingdom, hyrule, planet zebes, the world of star fox, earthbound's world.  and whatever else you'll like to add.  It'll be nice if you had the option of creating the main character and have the main characters look slightly change dependin on what world you go to in order to fit in a lil better.  Like if you go to hyrule, the game will use the cell shaded look and all the characters are cell shaded and so on.

I created a topic on this already, search through the forum, there should be more info on the topic there with quotes and whatnot from a few sites.

if they do both use the same architecture and in essence play the same games then I could see nintendo's system being the all game system whereas microsoft will have the one that'll compete directly to ps2 wit dvd playback and whatever other options.

weather ms or nintendo will profit from an alliance I aint sure but you have to remember that the bulk of profit is in software.  Combining the 2 into one market will thus give them both a larger market share which in turn then leaves bigger software sales.  Unless Sony really messes up, this is the only way I can see either nintendo or ms ever reaching sony in sales.  In the eyes of the average consumer, ninteno nor ms can ever live up to sony.  The ps3 is practically garantied a winner just cuase of the ps1 and 2's sales.  The average gamer (the bulk of gamers that drive the industry) always follow the hype.  The only thing that could ever topple the hype of sony releasing a new generation of the ps is a colaberation between Nintendo and MS.  As long as microsoft doesnt optain any shares of nintendo and eventually gets control over the compnay, I embrace the alliance.

where did you read that about gspot sayin not bogus?  The one I read said ff12 beind delayed as not bogus but the ff game for gc rumor as bein bogus.  I hope this all turns out to be true, cuase a new more traditional ff is always welcome.  Also, I want to see how they'll combine the 3 games themes and what is the meaning to the title.  I think the title guilty wing sounds like an action game but I hope I'm wrong.

true, back to the topic at hand.  I read that story in gamecube europe and they speak of the initial picture, the then sources which claimed it all to be false and then they speak of the actual issue of vjump that has addition pictures ( not in game shots) regarding the story.  I dont know exactly how true this can be but if they seen it right from the issue itself then odds are that its true.  They say the game takes play in the ff7 universe so I dont see how squall of ff8 will fit in.  Rumors before this have said that the rumored ff game in developement for gc was either 7,8, and 9 all in one or more recently that the game was goin to take influences from those 3 games.  So far its all coming together I guess.  FF7 univers, FF8 character and we still have yet to see what else is planned for this.  Hopefully the story is true and this is actually a true RPG and not the experiment that FF:CC was (even though it was a good game but it upon playing it, they couldve done so much more and you can see all the potential)

personally I like the random encounters but only to an extent.  I do feel you on some of the things youve said like hinderin the exploration process or gettin in the way while you tryin to run to a save point.  I think the only place for random fights are in the overworld and once you go into a location then you have the enemies visible.  Thats the perfect mix IMO.

if they were to make a sequal to any of the ff games I'd say either 4 or 6 (def 6 IMO) 6 had a huge selection of characters and the majority of them were all great and memorable.  Also, on a side note, I hope they let us name the dam characters.  I used to love naming everyone in my group.  I know it sounds stupid but it helped me feel more involved in the game.  I doubt it though, with all the voice acting and whatnot in rpgs today, they dont give the option of customization anymore cuase the names are in the voice acted scripts.  Sh*t sucks ass.

dam thats a buzz kill, I wasnt a big fan of the first kindom hearts gameplay.  The fightin felt a little stiff.  I still think squareenix and nintendo should team up again to do another mario rpg.  I was a big fan of the original.  Still wondering what the ff guilty wing is.  My guess, judging by the title, that it could be the action game I heard of with ff characters such as cloud.  The title sounds more like an action game title moreso than an anime.

I was just at gamecube europe and they ran a story on a rumoured ff game.  Visit their site for the info and link to a picture.  Basically Vjump (of Never Happening rumour fame) is goin to shed some light on the game in their next issue.  On the link on their site, they show a picture of a teaser wit the title Final Fantasy: Guilty Wing and at the bottom there is text where you can see ps2 and gcn.  If this is all true, its basically a definite we getting another ff on gamecube.  What do you think this game could be like.  Ive read that it could be a ff game combining some of the themes of ff 7-9 but I aint sure what that means lol.  Aint sure why gamecube europe is the only site that Ive found thats running the romour given that theirs a link with some info to go by.

the gameplay in ED didnt suck IMO.  It wasnt amazing but it was and still is way better than anything in any other survival horror type of game.

I was just thinking the same thing professional 666, I think the graphical style in ff:cc is as close to realism as the zelda series will ever get.  The background graphics for towns and water look great, perfect mix of realism and fantasy.  I would love to see a zelda game with graphics to that extent.

thanks I understand what you mean that the spaceworld demo did build hype but if you really look at the video, it does look nice and all but it isnt anything out of this world.  It looks like a cinematic which every other system is capable of reproducing.  The ww engine is unique and not anything you've really seen on any other system yet.  Anyways true artistry is not appreciated by the masses so the original cgi demo in spaceword served its purpose in building hype lol.

people complained bout the ww graphics engine becuase they were originally shown the more "realistic" graphics engine in the demo video where link was fightin ganon.  Had nintendo showed the ww engine from the start, I bet no one wouldve ever complained.

I wish they'd do somethin with that ff64 demo.  I still remember the pics I saw.  That game wouldve been perfect, graphics made me feel as if it was goin to be the first true next gen rpg yet still holding on to the oldschool feel.  Plus the fact that they used characters from ff6 in the demo helped since ff6 is IMO the best in the series.

that sounds hot but that might be a lil too extreme wit all the villagers and all diein, dont think nintendo would allow that.  I think nintendo should make a different franchise, similar to zelda just for the "mature" crowd where they can then hand off to sk or retro and not have to worry bout the image of the franchise since it'll be new.

I think we'll be seein more square games on nintendo systems besides the handhelds.  I remember hearing a while back that alot of square employees wanted the company to do work with nintendo again and in fear of them leaving and branching off to form smaller companies (hence the new companies we have now that consist of ex square em) square is putting more of an effort into the gamecube.
Also, leave it to nintendo fanboys ( dont flame me, I'm one too but I know how alot of us fanboys are quick to bash nintendo for their decisions) to complain bout ff:cc and all its requirements.  I know it costs alot if you want to get the most out of it.  But  I dont you wont hear sony fanboys b*tchin when ff11 drops and they have to buy the game, plus harddrive, plus adapter to connect online plus monthly fees (and thats all assuming they already have an isp cuase if not, add monthly fees for that too) which in the long run will make it an even bigger investment than ff:cc.

I couldve sworn that site administrators ie. bloodworth (I'm not quiton him though) in this site and others have said that according to what they've heard and sources within the industry are saying that squareenix still has at least 1 more project planned for gamecube.
