Nintendo Gaming / RE: Gameboy Evolution & 2 GameCube Next teams
« on: April 25, 2004, 01:08:11 PM »
from what I remember herein when the 64dd was being developed.  Rewritable disks can completely change games.  They were talkin about a having worlds in lets say an rpg that is forever changing.  In earthbound alone they were plannin go have a  world that you can actually mold dependin on your actions.  With rewritable space they can save any changes that youve made to the world ingame with your actions into that rewritable space.  I'm not really goin to get into this further since I dont know the exact specifics of blue ray and rewritable disks and their advantages.  I'm only speakin on what I remember hearin yrs ago durin the 64 dd era.

Theres already a topic on it, but I guess it deserves a mention here too.  What does everyone think of the new rumored specs for the n5.  Theres too much to mention and I'm too lazy to type it all given theres a topic on it,  but I assume everyone has read about it.

I dont know the exact details so hopefully someone in the know can elaborate but I think you can.  I think there is an amount of space on the disk designated to be rewritable and on that space things can be saved ( I dont know if its by the user or the game istelf can change aspects on the game on the fly and then save it to that section)

nintendo has been wanting to make games more customizable since the n64 era.  The 64dd was their answer but it was too late in the life span and it was an add on so you know it didnt take off, besides I think it was more of an experiment for nintendo.  If nintendo does include rewriteable media and a harddrive then that should open the door for some customization but I dont think it'll be up to the level of pc games but I'm happy with that beucase I dont have enough time on my hands anymore to put that much into the game and there are too many good games that come out that its hard to put some playtime in all of them ( or even a third of them)

I dont know much about the technical info here but everything does seem to be goin good.  I'm leaning towards the second specs merely becuase of nintendo sayin that the nintendo ds was a hint of what is to come (duel processors).  I hope they do have a hd and use blue-ray becuase they can open up alot of customization to games (which I love, helps replayability)  I was one of the few lookin forward to the 64dd back in the days and hopefully they can implement all the ideas they had for that add on to the new generation system.  I remember nintendo demonstrating earthbound for 64dd (with pics) stating that with the rewriteable disks, they could have the world of earthbound ever changing.  They used an example that whatever you did to the world, over time , you'll see the affects (planting seeds, years later in game time, there would be a tree in place).  I hope they bring those type of ideas back.  Also, I think they should forget the gamecube and n64 designs and take it back to the oldschool.  Make it look like a slimmer N.E.S. 4 controler ports and a tray for the disks right where the slot for the NES cartridges used to be.  The power and reset buttons will be placed in the same place also.  I think with the current success of their retro gameboy sp and games that a retro N5 would really be a hit in japan.

not so much a rumor but one of the higher ups in squareenix was quoted in an interview saying that ff3 is goin to be remade for gameboy advance.  I read it at nintendojo.  It was in an interview regarding the ff 1 and 2 remakes that are comin out for gba.  The person mentioned that its just a matter of time, the right time to release the game and how and what exactly there were goin to touch up in the remake.  He said he didnt want to dissapoint fans of the original by changin too much up but he also didnt want to just do a straight port.  He mentioned that nintendo was key on advising them to make a remake of ff3 specificly.  Hopefully all goes through and this doesnt jump ship to psp.

it still doesnt really give denis the excuse to jump the gun and annouce somethin like that when the details havent been worked out.  Also his choice of lettin out that info is questionable.  He decided to drop that bomb on the internet knowin that he was goin to cause a huge uproar on the boards with the fans.  He seems like he cares about his fanbase and nintendo's fanbase so I dont see why he wouldnt just wait till all the details were worked out so the blow could be a least a bit softened up if it were given with lets say, comfermation that they'll still be workin together and announce some future games that are still in developement.  But instead he just comes online and drops this nasty ass bomb.  All I can think of is that he knew what he was doin when he announced this early and something is strange about all this.

if it is a fps with vehicular combat mixed in, I hope its somewhat like helo or the new unreal tornament but with a big enphasise on story.  IF there is a cube wars, hopefully it'll have an FREE online mode for battles.  The gba games are tight.

I cant see SK signing exclusivly with sony or ms.  Even if they do break off from nintendo, I dont think they want to completely cut themselves off from nintendo, they like their big brother.   Also, I dont see whats so laughable about this topic as some of the site mods here and in IGN have mentioned.  There have been other rumors we've talked about that are way out there , beyond this.  At least this one has some smoke surrounding what could be or could not be the truth.

Not including all the 333 theories (which as perm said could be just us creating somethin which might not really be there even though it is a little tough to smoothly swallow as just coincedence) there is too much going against the story.  All I know is that something is up and things dont seem right.  If they broke up, they shouldve announced it already and adjusted their sites accordingly.  They are running business sites not personal online sites where you can procrastinate on updating key information.
If this is supposedlty true, I dont know what they are waitin for to announce it.  E3 is coming so its best to get all negative aspects out beforehand.  Also, why would denis come FIRST ( and so far only) online to drop this news where he knows sure well that all it would do is start a huge commotion and whatnot.  He also says he cant get into detail on the breakup, what could he be hiding?  There are alot of things that dont make sence here and I cant fully back up either side.  At this point its anyone's guess at what the truth really is behind all this.

with those articles and the plans on colabs nintendo, SK, and konami have for the future, I still cant see how the SK and nintendo break up can be belieaveable.

time is perfect, surrounding all the negative news about 3 parties leavin, then SK leaving.  They are preparing to steal the show at E3 if they drop bombs like SK leavin was just a prank and who knows what else they have in store.  I know alot of people say this could be wishful thinkin ( and it is a little far fetched) but what has been mentioned with the 333 and whatnot is too much to be coincedence.  There are alot of things that are not adding up.  Denis has also said he cant not get into details on the matter so you know something is up.  DAMN E3, the suspence just keeps building.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Nintendo isn't the problem..you are.
« on: April 13, 2004, 07:31:01 PM »
finally someone who isnt blaming nintendo as everyone is always quick to do.  In light of what has just happened wit SK and how everyone is b*tchin that nintendo is losing so many great companies.  Remember this, SK, Rare and anyone else that used to be exclusive to nintendo were great and only great while with nintendo.  Rare's work before being with nintendo is battle toads and rc pro am that I can think of, good games but nothing amazing.  There quality qot up when they started to work with nintendo.  Rare leaves nintendo and goes to MS, and what do we have? Ghouls somethin or other, garbage.  SK's game before nintendo that I can think of, Legacy of Kain for ps, good game, but nothin amazing.  They got together with nintendo and we get ED and MGS (ED being the more original and unique, worth mentioning)  They are leaving now and I dont know exactly where they'll be goin but we'll see if their quality slips.  Metriod was great and all and I know how everyone likes to praise retro for it, but remember, nintendo had a hand in the process and at one point had most of the staff fired and rebuilt in order to make sure the game came out the way it did.  All I'm gettin at is that nintendo is not at fault and what the omen says is true.  We drive the industry and decide on what makes it and what doesnt.  The majority of us dont buy anything besides nintendo's work.  I for one am lucky enough to own all 3 systems but when I get a chance to get a mutliplatform game, I make sure to get it for gamecube to help the cuase (and becuase I'm a fanboy lol)  Regardless of what anyone says about nintendo and that their quality has been slippin the past few yrs, there games are still one of a kind and you cant find anything with that same feeling in any of the other three systems.  Besides, you have to take into account that nintendo has been alocating resources to oversee alot of other companies in the past few yrs so its only natural that their games have slipped a lil bit.  Unlike Sony and MS, Nintendo has the responsibility of making the systems sellers games themselves and build the lineups for their systems.  When a new nintendo system is announced, everyone is looking first at what nintendo is offering then move on to what the third party is offering IMO.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Silicon Knights and Nintendo break up
« on: April 13, 2004, 12:28:44 PM »
thanks jonnyboy, I couldnt believe all the negetivity towards nintendo in this topic.  I understand taht it sucks that sk is not exclusive anymore but then it aint the end of the world.  ED 2 which might not even ever be made and there other game that I cant seem to remember the name of right now aint goin to make or break nintendo.  I been lookin foward to sk's work but it aint the reason I was goin to buy nintendo's next system.  I buy nintendo's system for their games which is and should be everyone else's reason in here too, if you dont then you should be buyin ps2s or xboxs since they have practically everything on nintendo's system barrin nintendo's individual games.  Who knows what happened here, maybe it wasnt nintendo's decision or maybe it was.  We dont know and should already jump to the conclusion that its nintendo's fault.  As for nintendo buyin small developers and building them up to greatness just to sell them off in the end is bull.  Nintendo helps small developers and then it seems it gives them the freedom to go as they please.  If a company doesnt want to be with you anymore, whats the point in even holdin on to their exclusivity?  They'll get disgruntled and start makin garbage games and eventually they'll be sold out.  So if a company might want to move on, dont blame nintendo for letting them do as they please.  Sorry for ranting but I'm a fanboy lol

that would be great but they did say that pso3 is to be the last.  By makin a mmorpg of it , it'll basically still be another pso since its online.  Speakin for myself though, I dont think I'll ever get into mmorpg merely becuase of the fees and required playtime.

excluding any bad translation or bad english, golfer is def a name.  If it were speaking of a golfer in general it wouldve had an "a" or "the" before it .  Thats what makes me believe its an action or adventure/rpg since it seems to be centered around one character like in the zelda games.

I hope they keep the character creation and expand upon it.  I think thats a huge feature that is not taken advantage of on console rpgs.

yeah I was just thinkin the same thing with mario golf already out.  Its true also that if you were to try and get sports game back into your business, golf is not where you start.  Besides, startin up a sports side for the company isnt too smart given how poorly they sell on the console and something of that nature is better left for the next gen where they can have the games come out as launch titles.  As far as I can remember, left feild used to do the sports games for nintendo.

As for the game being a parody I aint sure.  For that type of game, the graphics engine for it would have to be somewhat cartoony I would guess given its humorious nature and we all know how much controversy zelda had with wind wakers cartoon graphics.  Using that type of engine and theme I dont think will sell well for a new original game even though I would love to see it happen.  The idea is interesting and would be good to see given how much fun I had with conkers for n64 (the only game I can think of that was a parody as a whole lol).

I'm really hoping its a "darker" or more "mature" adventure/rpg resembling zelda.  Given that it'll be a original game would allow them to not hold back and use some themes and presentation not possible with zelda becuase of the image it has to uphold.  Given the success of Star Wars:KOTOR and the hype for the upcoming sequal plus Fable for xbox, I think now would be a good time to come out with something for the crowd wanting more so called mature games for gamecube.

I hope its a game somewhat like zelda but darker so they can finally please the crowd that wishes to darken zelda up and still keep the image of zelda unchanged.

just read an article over an igncube of a game nintendo is developing called Legend of Golfer.  They are sayin that some are speculating it to be nintendo returning to developing real sports game and this is a golf game.  Others say it could be a rpg.  I'm leaning towards it being an rpg (action or turned based) becuase the I dont see why if they are trying to make a return to realistic sports games, why would they use the world legend to describe someone by the name of Golfer which is clearly a fictional name.
