Obviously your Zelda dream means you have unresolved issues with your father.

Everybody loves Mario Kart!

I'm not sure really, everyone develops differently.  At five and six I was playing things like Sonic, Mario 64, Wave Race, Pilotwings, etc. which are all certainly more complicated than Dora.  Mario Kart Double Dash might be a good choice depending on their skill level.

Super Mario Sunshine and Zelda: Wind Waker are kid-friendly, but controlling the character and the camera at the same time might be too complicated.  Wind Waker is also probably way too difficult for them, so I'd go with Mario before that.

Then maybe look at some Mario Sports titles (other than golf...).  Super Mario Strikers may be a bit too fast-paced, but it's loads of fun and very simple.  Mario Superstar baseball is very simple but could be a little frustrating for some, and most of all it's pretty boring too :P  Mario Tennis, perhaps?

The Mario Party series is also great fun, they're made up of a bunch of mini-games strung together by a board game interface.  It's a great multiplayer game, too, and the games are usually very simple.  I'd definitley look into Mario Party.

Donkey Konga is a great game that uses the bongo peripheral for the Cube to play to music (it's packaged witht he game, and extra ones can be bought separatley).  However, if your kids haven't really developed good hand-eye coordination and timing yet it'd be very dificault and frustrating.  I'd guess your 7-year old would be able to handle the easy stuff.

There's also Kirby Air Ride, which may be the best choice.  It's a very simple and bright racing game that only uses the A button.  It takes a while to get used to and may be a little too hectic, but it's extremely simple and very fun.

Look into those, those are the only ones that I know of that are simple and fun, but really they might all be a little too much for your kids.  I know at that age my little brother wasn't able to play half those games.

My biggest reccomandation by far, however, would go towards the purchase of a Game Boy Advance or a Nintendo DS portable system.  The GBA library has TONS of liscensed children's games starring numerous cartoon and television characters that I'm sure your kid would love.  The Nintendo DS is a bit more expensive, but it's the console that publisher and developers will be supporting in the future.  Plus it's way cool, what with the touch-screen and such, I'm sure your kids will love it.  The DS is also backwards compatible with the GBA, meaning your kids can play all those great Game Boy games on their DS too.

I've had countless dreams about games and stuff, here are two!

The first one was with Miyamoto.  For some reasons I was his best friend, and also a pilot!  I was flying Miyamoto to his winter home (which looks exactly like my friends house...coincidence?!?!?).  Anywho I crashed in his backyard and was pretty freaked out, you know having PROBABLY KILLED MIYAMOTO and stuff.  But he was alive.  And smiling.  Always smiling.  We went into his house and he took out the trash with a huge creepy grin.  I said wow.

Then I had a Rev dream.  I got a Rev for my birthday and was pretty excited, what with the Rev not being out an all.  I was worried about the games though.  I got the Rev early, but were any of the games finished?  YES!  I got two games, both first person shooters LOLOLOL.  But what!  Nup!  These were PS2 games with "Revolution" in the title!  Whoops!  I think I cried a little because my parents were so stupid.  That was just about when the controller turned into cardboard and the console grew into immense proportions and folded itself into a giant laptop that said "DARE" on it.  Then the dream turned into a weird "naked at school" type thing except I was really hawt so I didn't care!

The end!

The games worth owning on the Dreamcast are:

Ikaruga
Soul Calibur
Skies of Arcadia
PSO

All of those have superior GC counterparts.  A lot of people like Capcom vs. Marvel, but it's an overrated piece of trash.  And Shenmue is like the worst game ever made.

It was way too loud and annoying too.

But it's got easy piracy and stuff.

7/10

Yeah, wow, whoever made these seems to have just thrown out a bunch of ideas hoping he'll get a few right.  If some of them turn out to be true, it's just luck.

Clones are fine as long as they have plenty of different characters as well.  I like clones because they're like a tweaked version of the regular character.  Young Link was just regular link except he traded more speed for less power.  So as long as there are ample characters avaiable to BE cloned, I don't mind 'em.

So, I watched Mythbusters tonight. No Brain Age ad. If you're not going to advertise during the station's most popular show, why bother advertising on the station at all?

First of all, Mythbusters just isn't that good anymore, so nyah.

Second of all, Mythbusters is about the only show on Discovery (besides American Choppers, I guess) that attracts a different demographic than the one Ninty's going for.  Mythbusters is Discovery's 'cool' show, Brain Age is definitley not cool.

Sure, it couldn't hurt, but it'd probably be a lot more expensive too.  Or something.

I wouldn't care if I never see another KD ever again. The series jumped the shark when they made the sequel.

Every time that term is used nonchalantly in conversation another angel gets its wings.

I remember reading an interview with this guy in some trash magazine I got for free, and from what I read I don't understand why he wouldn't like the Rev.  He's not interested in current videogames because they're too complicated and annoying (which had a lot to do with the development of KD), and the Rev means simpler and innovative gaming.

It was for protection.  The game boy name was perfect, and if the DS failed ninty didn't want it to ruin the gameboy name.  They just weren't confident, I guess.  But whatever, the next GB is a while off, the DS really IS the next game boy...

Nintendo Gaming / Brain Age commercials

HEY

Apparently on the Discovery channel (or science channel) there are a few infomercial-style adverts for Brain Age.  I've personally never seen one (couldn't find it on google video either), but I guess it's on fairly often, so I'm looking out.  Cooelst of all, it's endorsed by the science channel, it's not just an independant Ninty advert.

Pretty useless news!  It's pretty cool though to see Nintendo doing some appropriate advertising, they've been handling the DS pretty well so far, gives me hope for the Rev.  Reggie

Edit:  Just saw one, it's a fantastic commercial!  It's a non-game commercial!  It does a great job of explaining the purpose of the game, how to play it, and all the features.  It targets the right group, and it's very effective.  Thumbsup.
