F-Zero 4

Reboot/Sequel- Sequel

Platform- Wii U

Developer- EAD or Retro

What I want to see

White Land. Death Wind. Every other location that GX left out. Also some of the Maximum Velocity locations like Tenth Zone East and Ancient Mesa (or, failing that, having their themes as unlockables- MaxVel had some SERIOUSLY pimpin tunes)

also better story mode cutscenes

and a track editor. I learned how to use Valve's Hammer editor easily enough, with a quick tutorial any monkey could make a track.

I was totally expecting something Bayonetta 2 related- like a demo of something cool like a new multiplayer mode or something, just SOMETHING, that would grab the Spike TV demographic by the balls, and COMPELL them to buy a Wii U, probably the biggest missing demographic chunk that Nintendo's been missing by a mile since the N64.

Instead we get something better reserved for a 3 minute clip on Nintendo Direct

why nintendo

y u do this

All Nintendo needs to do to restore my faith in them is making new F-Zero.

Or Custom Robo. Or Starfox, where Fox and friends stay in their friggin arwings

160
so that was it?

really?

brb, theres a towel tied to the doorknob that's missing my neck night about now

I had no problem with motion controls. I actually like the Wii U controller. Strange as it may sound coming from me, I also think that developers have no problem with motion controls- the only reason why the Wii never got killer aps like Borderlands or ME was its pathetic hardware.

but here's my wish list:

1. System power- The Wii got written off by big studios because of "DERP TWO GAMECUBES TAPED TOGETHER HURR" mindset. A poor mindset, sure, but if developers dont like a system, they won't bother with it. Hence, the flood of shovelware that plagued the Wii. Wii U being written off in much the same manner, only it doens't have the sales number to justify it. The 3DS got away with it because it's a handheld, which always will be inferior to home consoles.

2. Digital purchases tied to accounts, not hardware. Steam got it right, Microsoft got it right, hell, even EA got it right. EA. Its stuff like this that perpetuates the idea that Nintendo has no idea what decade it is.

3. One controller. ONE. Nobody likes having to buy two or three different controllers for the same system

3a. And on that note, whatever controller Nintendo does go with, make sure the system can support 4 of them at once.

seriously

they shouldnt have to be told this.

4. Drop the "wii" name. The word "Wii" has become incurably toxic to third parties. And it sounds stupid too.

162
Nintendo's not buying anyone, guys, not with the kind of money they're bleeding at present.

Now if they REALLY wanted to make waves, they'd blow the lid off of their (possible) new IP. I don't see that happening at VGX though, or anytime soon for that matter

163
What was Nintendo's last-created IP (that actually mattered?) Pikmin?

Nintendo Gaming / Reggie dropping a bomb at VGX Awards, what could it be?

http://wiiudaily.com/2013/11/reggie-says-expect-something-at-vgx/

tl;dr: reggie being optimistic about wii u's future (*snerk*), but something Nintendo-related will be happening at VGX this year.

My guess? A better look at Bayonetta 2.

165
Well, now with Mario and Zelda finally out of the way, now we can finally expect to see F-Zero and Starfox and the like at E3 2014, an event that Nintendo will totally show up at this year!

you know that MGS V is being developed primarily for the PS4/Xbone, right? It'd be like putting MGS4 on the Wii.

"For real?"

"Yeah! They sold two!"

Too bad as well that Ghoulies, PDZ, and Nuts n Bolts were all flops as well

Compare that to Retro, whose "worst" game was Metroid Prime 2.

Really lends perspective, doesn't it?

Why do people still talk about Rare as if they're the same company in 2013 that they were in 1994? The only thing that Rare has now thats in common with Rare of yesterday is pretty much just the name.

Any team of trained monkeys can crap out casual titles like Kinect Sports. That's not a real big achievement to parade around.

172
Why do you want to get rid of Reggie? He really doesnt do much other than act as Iwata's English-version avatar.

Also yes, the Wii was successful- from a sales standpoint. mostly because the smartphone craze hadn't really taken off yet. The only things that sold on the Wii were the handful of first-party titles and the heaps of shovelware. Real serious efforts from third partiesmostly fell flat in sales (Conduit, Mad World, etc). From a gaming standpoint, inarguably, the Wii was a colossal failure. (negative rep ahoy!)

173
Even though Nintendo should have no real reason to be paranoid over a parent freaking out over a frat party drinking game. Really, they shouldn't care.

So Nintendo's solution to being completely unprepared to deal with HD development (in the year of our lord 2013!) and almost zero third part support (outside of the usual shovelware) to fill in the gaping holes of their release schedule is re-re-rereleasing 15 year old games

I hope this really is just a rumor.

I guess this is what we'll have to settle on instead of F-Zero, seeing Nintendo's refusal to come out of their party game comfort zone
