Nintendo Gaming / Zelda OoT/OoT Master Quest questions...
« on: May 07, 2003, 05:48:09 AM »
hi all.  got a gamecube and currently playing through Zelda WindWaker.  gotta say, i'm really getting into this game.  it's the 1st Zelda game i've played since the original on NES.  (wish the music was a little closer to the original).  but i really am loving this game.

now everywhere i read i see that people regard Ocarina of Time probably the best Zelda out there.  is this true?  also, if i had the chance to pick up the double bonus disk from eBay would it be worth it?  what's so good about it?  what are the graphics like?  what's the gameplay like?  comparisons to the original and WindWaker would be helpful too b/c these are the only 2 Zelda's i've ever played.  also, is the bonus disk japanese or have japanese text on it - or is it 100% american?

thanx

hey all.  i bought the wind waker and gotta say i'm blown away with the visuals, sound, and overall presentation of the game.  i'm not too far into it however.  i'm to the point on the island of the bird people (mail deliverers) with the dragon on top.  the first thing i'm noticing about this game is that there is a TON of just dialog.  i find myself spending 70% of a gaming session just sitting there pressing "A" and letting the text scroll over the screen.  my question is does this ever let up any?  does the action ever pick up in this game?  it almost makes the game feel like just a plain old text RPG.  i'm getting a little worried that the rest of the game is like this.  can anyone shed some light on the rest of the game without spoiling anything for me?

thanks...

Nintendo Gaming / super mario sunshine - strategy questions...
« on: April 08, 2003, 06:15:58 AM »
hi all.  just picked up sunshine and all i can say is wow.  what a blast!  the graphics may not be the best i've ever seen, but it's just plain fun.  heck, all the gamecube games i've bought (prime, rogue leader, sunshine) are just plain fun.  i've got a bunch of technically impressive xbox games, but there's a different feel to the cube games.  can't believe it took me so long to pick a cube up.

anyway, to my question.  i think i've opened up about 3 "portals" in delfino plaza.  when i say "portal", i mean the multicolored "M" that you can transport through.  from what i can tell, each portal leads to about 8 sub-levels?  is this correct?  should i try to complete all 8 sub-levels within a certain "portal" before i move on to the next portal and its own 8 sub-levels?  is there only 1 shine per sub-level?  should i ever re-visit one of the sub-levels?  or once i have the shine from the sub-level i'm done with it?

thanx

hi all.  bought a gamecube last week.  i gotta say, i LOVE metroid prime.  i haven't played any metroid before except the original on NES and i never beat the original.  but i'm loving prime.  that being said, i haven't played a zelda title since the original on NES.  i loved that game though - i beat it multiple times.  would i like TWW or has too much happened in the story line since for me to really get into it?

Nintendo Gaming / rogue leader in progressive scan....how?
« on: April 01, 2003, 11:07:08 AM »
hi all.  got my cube last week and the component cables should be delivered this friday.  i've read that to get metroid prime to run in progressive scan you hold down the "B" button as you power on the system.  do you do this same trick to get rogue leader to display in progressive scan?  is there a different trick for each game?  anyone know how to do this?

thanks.

Nintendo Gaming / gamecube audio - such thing as optical or coax?
« on: March 31, 2003, 02:31:45 PM »
just got a gamecube and don't know too much about it.  i ordered the component cables from nintendo.com b/c i have a hdtv.  i know with the xbox monster component cables you have the option of connecting to your AV receiver via optical audio cable for dolby digital 5.1.  are there any other connection options for gamecube audio other than LR RCA type stereo cables?

i'm just getting started in metroid prime.  love the game but taking a while getting used to the strafing and looking up and down.  anyway, i'm having trouble with one of the bosses in the chozo ruins.  it's the big plant with little directv dish-looking things that reflect sunlight onto it.  it takes me about 2 seconds to blow up the 1st one, roll into the ball, and then roll down the trench and blow up a bomb.  i assume you're supposed to do the same thing to the other 2 dishes, but i can't figure out for the life of me how to do it to the other two.  any hints/help here?
