Nintendo Gaming / RE:Motal Kombat : Deception
« on: February 28, 2004, 04:58:22 AM »
Well, Midway is in a different boat than many of their 3rd party brethren- from what I understand, Midway is on the verge of bankruptcy and isn't getting good sales on any platform. THey have to cut their losses somewhere, and logically the console with lowest of the three sales for their games is it- the Gamecube may not be that far behind the XBox or PS2, but I doubt Midway can continually supply games for ll three systems.

I think Bill summed it up perfectly. I have strong support on my side.

IGN has confirmed that Midway will not release Mortal Kombat: Deception on the Gamecube. Just thought I'd let you all know.

Do you have a counting proble, manunited? Do you need to go back to kindegarten? Last I checked, 1 was not very many.

Really, though, this thread will get locked if we keep screwing around.

While Midway is expected to drop its Gamecube support, Mortal Kombat may be an acception. Midway is in a lot of trouble anyway, though, so I wouldn't blame them if they didn't release MK:D on the Gamecube.

Why did nobody complain about the people who evolved into mermen in less than 1000 years in Futurama?

Because the caffeine from the Coca Cola factory sped up their evolution! Weren't you paying attention to the episode?

Yeah, I'm going to take offense that you thought I was older than I really am. In any case, yeah, I'm 15 now, but I'll be 16 on Wednesday. I was 12 when I started posting on message boards. ^_^

NWR Feedback / RE:PGC, what the heck is up with the ads?
« on: February 26, 2004, 01:52:02 PM »
I think KN's point was that Gamecube ads would be MORE logical- they'd at least know that they're reaching every PGC reader rather than just the group that owns an XBox as well. In any case, I doubt any ad really makes much of a difference since so few people click them anyway.

RPGFreak: Let's work with what we know from Wind Waker- Ganondorf broke out the seal and wreaked havoc across the land, but Link was not there to stop him (since he had left in Majora's Mask). The Goddesses then flooded Hyrule to drive him out, and he only returned at the beginning of Wind Waker. Is it not probable that when Ganondorf returned he destroyed much of Hyrule, including the Temple of Time that caused him so much turmoil?

the whole point of the second half of OoT was to build a perfect seal.

Obviously it wasn't perfect, considering Ocarina of Time comes first chronologically and nearly every Zelda game afterwards features Ganondorf/Ganon as a villain.

I've heard both, but you're right, 1,000 years is not much better for evolution than 100 years.

Yeah, and the Zoras evolved into the bird people from Wind Waker in less than 100 years- clearly Zelda's universe doesn't follow ours to the T.

And the stories have always been added after the fact, that's just the way Miyamoto makes games- gameplay first, story second. Really the only two Zeldas I thought had much of a story at all were Majora's Mask and Wind Waker.

Still I can't really respect the idea that all Links are different yet they all look the same.

While each Link is technically different, you can view them all as embodying the same spirit. Hence the striking similarity in appearance.

Before I go I want to say, that stuff about Nintendo not wanting to do a realistic Zelda because it would have glitches is ridiculous. Just look at Metroid, which I also hope will become cel shaded (similar to Ico).

Ico isn't cel-shaded. It does indeed have a very striking visual style (almost like an oil painting), but I think the only thing in Ico that was cel-shaded was Yorda.

What's going on is Nintendo is being economical rather than ambitious these days.

Perhpas Nintendo just hasn't gotten around to doing a relealistic Zelda yet- the series will live for a very long time, it's not like Nintendo is restricted in that sense.

It's the thought that counts, Hostile. I'm sure it was the best post ever!

And does anyone else find it ironic that manunited has taken a liking to calling me a pervert and a pedophile?

Neh, Super Mario Bros. is a game that's meant to be short. I recently watched the record breaking video of a guy who beat Super Metroid with 100% completion in exactly 1:00- now that is impressive.

What really annoys me is how people claim Wind Waker's art style was truly a change, then go back and say it was A Link to the Past in 3D- pick one and stay with it. Zelda's art style has always been changing and until Nintendo does a truly realistic Zelda game we'll never know if it will work or not. End of discussion.

Indeed, Oldskool, society has at least improved in that respect, but it really has nothing to do with the discussion.

That's natural progression, though, Hostile- I'm not implying that there's a thick line seperating every social group. I merely used the term for convenience in a discussion. From my experiences, throughout elementary school there are no social distinctions at all. In middle school they start emerging, are cleary defined by 8th/9th grade, and then mingle from then on out. The point remains, though, that I would not expect to see a 6th grader, a grade in which 99% of the people are socially mindless drones, wearing a shirt that says "I Nerds". This presents several possibilities- the first being that today's youth are indeed maturing socially much faster than we did. The second is that nerd girl falls within the very few that DO socially mature by 6th grade (I started posting on videogame forums when I was 12, which has to be the equivalent of wearing a shirt proclaiming one's love for nerds). The third and last possibility is I'm horrible at telling people's age and she's actually 14 or something.

Zelda will never have anything more than an "E" rating...period...It just won't happen...

I think what you mean, Bill, is that Zelda will never get more violent- with all the negative publicity about videogames, and the ESRB tightening ratings, Zelda may one day get a Teen rating simply. :\

Well, Bill, if you consider getting bored hunting down Triforce charts only to have to hunt down their respective pieces "nitpicking", you certainly live large.
