I have been growing very found of this series since playing Curious Village. Hopefully the plot won't be as easy to figure out as CV's. :)

Size restrictions should have been dropped when the "storage solution" was announced.  Like others have said, I hope these limitations are fixed on the next console.

How much longer will the winners of the contest have to wait before the games are gifted to them?

Aw, the backward clues or non existant clues in Castlevania 2. Metroid was much better than that game.

I always hated how difficult it was to refill energy and missles after you were near empty.  I am glad they fixed those issues in the later games.  While there was one area with seemingly endless repeating rooms, most of the areas were not that hard to figure out.  Zero Mission was definetly a great remake with its extras and extra area.

I havent really kept up with many tv series lately. The last full one being aired on TV was Avatar The Last Airbender.  I do still enjoy watching Law & Order, and Full Metal Alchemist when I can catch it on Cartoon Network if it is still on.

Heaven forbid they make a Wii Kart.  If they are going to use the Miis more, they need to update the customization of the Miis.

Outside of my own thoughts and feelings for a franchise, I kinda read what different sites say about a game or series Im not familiar with. I do read the stuff on NWR, but I can not say it is the main factor in my decision making.  But every now and again it does offer a insight or two worth considering that I hadnt already thought about.

Top 5? I count 13 in your list!

Well I tried to do a top 5 for each platform/area.  Only I do not have as many disc wifi games as I do the download service.

That is cool, maybe we can get together for SSBB and MK WII sometime.

Nintendo Gaming / What are your top 5 favorite games to play on WiFi?
« on: August 20, 2010, 10:22:58 PM »
Hello fellow NWR people,

This is not neccessarily a match seeking thread directly, but I would like to see what people on this forum do like to play or still like playing over the Nintendo WiFi on the Wii, WiiWare, and Ds/DSIWare.  II am kind of hoping this will help to show people what other people are still wanting to play against.  While this is primarily inquiring about the Nintendo systems, feel free to post other system favorites also. List your top 5 of each one or even a overall Top 5.

As for myself, it breaks down like this.

Wii:
Mario Kart Wii:  Playing in a room of twelve people or running regionals with people in a group as the top contenders is always fun.  Too bad the battle mode was bad.
SSBB: Despite being slow with the occasional lag, the matches can still be rowdy and fun.
Wii Speak: Ok not the most obvious choice, but having live smack talk during a game of MK DS helps flesh out the DS's online offerings.

WiiWare:
Bomberman Blast: This game has a lot of modes and options of customization for all kinds of matches.
Tetris Party:  Six player tetris can be one hectic affair, and one on one can be nail biting as well.
Dr. Mario:  While it doesnt allow for many players at one time, head to head matches rarely have hiccup issues.
Cue Sports: For 5 bucks, this game runs pretty smoothly and has a bit of customization for the different modes and table/ball designs.  Other pool games may have more options, but you get plenty for the amount you pay for.
Excitebike World Rally:  The option to race over customized tracks and different bike colors makes this appealing.

DS:
Pokemon Platinum/Soul Silver:  I enjoy playing against friends on this and trading with people to help with different needs. Doing the Battle Frontier with people as co-op with Voice chat on can be quite enjoyable.
Mario Kart DS:  Ah the first true DS Wifi game I owned.  Playing matches on this over wifi, took on new meaning when me and other friends added wiispeak live smack talk to the shenanigans.  MK WII may be a bit flashier, but i dont miss the greater probabilty of blue shells when playing the DS one.
Tetris DS/Tetris Party Deluxe:  I still prefer the the first Tetris game on DS, but i can not deny that the newer one has better options for gameplay over wifi. The added speak options make it easier to set up stuff as well.
Picross DS:  While not as robust as the local player options, the race to finish two puzzles before the other person can be a frantic one.  Plus sharing homemade puzzles with friends can be fun. Especially some of the cool art work they can make to go with the solved puzzles.
Clubhouse Games:  This game has a lot of variety for gaming options, and has a really nice chat/text/drawing box for communicating with the other players.

The numbers have to be on the cubes; it wouldn't work otherwise with how you're constantly rotating the block. Because of that, you can only give one number, which is why they put a circle around it when there are two groups and a square when it's 3 or more. And the game would be way too easy if every block had a clue. This game is similar at its core to the previous Picross game, but it plays differently, and because of that the interface can't and shouldn't be the same.

I will have to disagree on that. Plenty of the harder puzzles in the earlier games were still pretty hard even with all the clues laid out.  As to your next point, I can understand that the 3D play field would require a different interface, Im just saying what they chose for noting areas with seperate groups was not a good choice.

I liked playing this game, but the way the clues were shown on the boxes irritated me to no end.
what are you talking about? the backgrounds? they can be changed to random

I have played Mario Picross and Picross DS.  In those games, you see all of the clues, seperated for the rows and columns. In Picross 3D, you do no see them seperately, you get one number, if they even give a number for the row, column, and z-axis(?).  The way they denote if there are seperate groups is with a mystic circle and or the mystic square. OOOOOOH really helpful. While most of the puzzles do have some symetry to them, a lot of them are off by a block or two. Which makes going for three stars on all puzzles a huge ordeal. Especially in the higher up courses.  Then on top of that, not all of the rows, columns, or z axises cubes have clues!!! WTF???  How did the developement team miss that?  It is really annoying on the puzzles that have a one block twisting pattern that has no clues on most sides of the cubes to figure out how it goes.

steps off soap box,

Basically IMO,
Seperated clues GOOD
One number for all seperate groups and surrounded by a shape is BAD.
Failure to have clues on all axises BAD.
The different backgrounds and themes, and themed unlockables GREAT

I am with a group of people who actually do enjoy doing this sort of thing.  We have done variations of it in Brawl, Bomberman Blast.  My code is in the MK WII pile, and I can see about adding you as well later tonight.

I have been thinking for a while now that the reason we have not seen a lot about this game is because it could get a 3DS upgrade of sorts.  Regardless of which system it is on, I WANT IT.  The ending to Lost Age was just too........open for the imagination.

I have played Curious Village and Diabolical Box.  Maxi here is brief overview with out spoiling the stories for either game.  Basically Professor Layton is a world famous professor who is well known for being a great puzzle solver. He has an apprentice name Luke.  Due to his great puzzle solving skills, he has a tendency to get asked to solve mysteries and such. You get a lot of variety of puzzles to solve. Some are presented by locals, some are hidden.  As you solve certain puzzles, the story progresses through cinema scenes and conversations.  There is usually a twist or two to keep things intereresting.  If you like puzzle solving, the game has a wide variety of puzzles, from sliding block puzzles, observational ones, following paths.

The music is very fitting and the stories have been interesting to see to the very end.  I can not wait for the new game to come out.

Nintendo Gaming / MK WII Theme Night?
« on: August 15, 2010, 11:50:50 PM »
Would anyone be interested in doing a Mario Kart Wii Theme night later this week?  Maybe Friday or Saturday night?  By themes I mean setting up a idea around what characters and on courses. Some examples of themes I have played with other friends are like:

All Warios on Bikes in Battle Mode Coin Runners
Baby Bowsers on Villian themed tracks
Any Villian on a hero styled track

There are some other ones we have done but that is just a few examples.  We can play a few rounds on one theme and then agree to another theme here on the actual game night.  If interested post here or send me pm.  Hope to see you at the starting line!!

Lol,

Maxi I did run into that issue with Tetris DS. Anyways, all the games are done aside from one that isnt listed, and I doubt many would have it so I will leave that one alone.
