Can't wait to stare at this list for an hour and end up not watching anything.

I don't like long touch.  I seem to be triggering it accidentally a lot, even when I don't even realize I'm making contact with the screen.  Honestly, I'd probably turn it off if I didn't need it to delete/rearrange apps.  Or if I knew how.

Steven Universe? Which season.  Also I think comedy is so subjective that it is hard to be right or wrong.  I mean Parks and Rec I think is the funniest sitcom series I have seen, but I know some people that hate the show.  Futurama has some good seasons, but is overall inconsistent, Simpson's has some great seasons, but they are also inconsistent, but the early seasons were still amazing.  Bob's Burgers is pretty amazing too, and the series is overall fairly creative, but I can also understand why people would hate that series.

It's particularly good once they start getting deeper into the overall plot of the show in the 2nd and 3rd seasons.  But the 5th season is really, really good, epecially after you've gotten attached to the characters.  The movie that aired was also spectacular.  The comedy is more on the silly side than the profound, but it's still a pretty funny show.  There's just more to it than the comedy, with the characters, the action, and the story being bigger deals.  Oh, and the music.  The songs are possibly the best part.

I really like Steven Universe, but the show has a lot of issues.  Beyond some of the deeper stuff (like the racial coding of Bismuth, the whole slave/romance relationship between Pearl and <can't spoil>...), just so many of the basic plot points are built around inconsistent character choices.

Bismuth gets nothing really explained to her, then gets poofed and bubbled and set aside until Steven decides she'd make a great wedding present.

The freaking diamonds - murdering, genocidal conquerors - get a speech from Steven and now they're all bffs and everything is better now.

eh.

Bismuth tried to shatter Steven and got poofed and bubbled. Not a ton of time to explain things, but she did get a full explanation before the wedding.

There's a lot of disagreement about if the Diamonds are redeemed, but there's enough evidence there to explain why they had such a sudden change of heart. It's not just a pep talk, it has to do with his powers and their relationship.

Maybe I should rewatch it some of it as being Jim and Pam’s story. People always talked up the Michael Scott parts and the episodes where it’s all him are kinda cringy.

Pokemon will be out by then, so 10M LTD sounds pretty reasonable.  The boost from the Lite release will be fading in time for Pokemon and a restock.

I didn't finish Ultra Sun because it was too soon after and too identical to Sun/Moon.  I stopped playing Let's Go because I just wasn't as into it as other Pokemon games.  The Kanto experience is just lacking.

That said, I'm pretty excited about SwSh.  I know the National 'Dex thing has people in a tissy, but it really wasn't there in SuMo; you could transfer the Pokemon over, but it didn't really count towards the 'Dex, IIRC.  So, I don't care about that.  I'm not in love with the Dynamax/Gigamax thing, but I do like the Pokemon revealed thus far.  So, it'll likely be a yes from me.

General Gaming / Re: Google Stadia

Excuse the double post, wanted to separate my thoughts from the main thing.

I thought the idea was kinda silly when I first read it, but the explanation made sense.  My only issue is that how can there not be a near-infinite number of different inputs that Stadia will have to keep track of?  Will it just assume I'm going to progress in the game normally?  If I do something unexpected, I'll lose all the benefit of "negative latency".  But it's still pretty interesting.

So, Google thinks that streaming on Stadia can become faster than console play because of a concept they're calling "Negative Latency".

Quote
"Negative latency" is a concept by which Stadia can set up a game with a buffer of predicted latency between the server and player, and then use various methods to undercut it. It can run the game at a super-fast framerate so it can act on player inputs earlier, or it can predict a player's button presses.

I never liked The Office (US).  I felt Dwight was the only redeemable character but the show tried to make me hate him?  I just didn't understand what people saw in the Michael Scott character.

They didn't redo the cut scenes? Yikes.  I had this problem playing a remake of God of War on the PS3 where the cut scenes looked notably worse than the gameplay (smoother, but muddier, if that makes sense).

Tetris was iconic for its time, but Tetris Attack is where it's at if you're looking for old Tetris games.
That isn't a Tetris game though, it's a re-skinned Panel de Pon / Puzzle League!

I meant Tetris Blast! That game was so fun.  It was Tetris but with exploding blocks and enemies!

I would because Steven Universe, but that's not what he would have wanted. Speaking of, that type of release schedule was infuriating with that show. You'd get five episodes in one week and then nothing for months. Sometimes the network would actually sit on the completed episodes just to maintain this batch release schedule! It was maddening at times.

Or 19 more seasons!

Only 5 episodes?! Lol.  I think when I saw they got picked up for like 100 episodes, I thought "There's no way they fulfill that".

Lol, the memes have been great.

I've played more of it since my initial post.  The game is really fun, and a clever puzzle game.  Some of the tasks on the to-do are a bit tedious, but overall the game is good.  Not great, but worth people's time.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Which Mario & Luigi game do you like the most?
« on: October 07, 2019, 07:57:30 PM »
I've played all the Mario & Luigi games, and Superstar Saga is by FAR the best in the series (which is...sad, considering it was the 1st). It's still one of the funniest games I've ever played, and Fawful was a real delight. That last sequence with him and Prince Bean is still a highlight.

It's also the only game in the series that seemed to know how to END before the combat got really annoying and gimmicky.

I think Superstar Saga is the best because there wasn't much you could do with the formula, or at least nothing they did was particularly spectacular.  For me, Paper Jam just felt like "Mario & Luigi & Paper Mario".  There wasn't much beyond that they added another character.  So, the game play was more or less perfected on the first time out.

Also, I don't think the series produced a better character than Fawful.

I think the only thing worth mentioning is that guy is almost certainly going to lose his job after costing the NBA a pretty hefty sum in lost revenue over a tweet.  Anything beyond that is . . . dicey territory.

Untitled Goose Stage would be amazing for smash. I think he'd also work as an assist trophy.

TalkBack / Re: No New Switch Lite Model To Fix Drift
« on: October 02, 2019, 10:44:02 PM »
The joy-con drift issue is probably the biggest hardware failure I've seen from Nintendo.  I had a DS whose hinge broke, but the system was still otherwise completely playable.  The joy-con drift renders the controllers worthless.  The only upside is that they're fixing the controllers for free now.  But I'm literally 4/4 in having to send them in.  I'm waiting to get three of them back now, but that basically renders my Switch, unswitchable.
