TalkBack / Re: Penny Arcade Adventures Can't Come to WiiWare

Can Wii have a hard drive now, please?
But then why would developers ever bother to optimize their titles? We'd end up with the same bloatware that modern games, even the episodic ones, have become.

Also very user-corruptible.
Since SD cards can be made read-only with the switches on the side, I would assume that they could simply be constructed to always be read-only.

TalkBack / Re: Telltale Games’ Mystery Episodic Series Revealed
« on: April 12, 2008, 01:09:52 PM »
Remember the Road Runner? The voices were done by an employee for kicks, when the union found that out they forced WB to only use unionized VAs for any future recordings (which didn't end up meaning anything as they had enough material that they wouldn't need more samples). If Matt and Missy aren't unionized (Mike would have to be too if any Powered By The Cheat sequences are in there) I could very well see the union try to kick them out of the project.
WB also probably had an agreement with the union to only use unionized actors (much like they have with the Writers' Guild and SAG). Telltale, on the other hand, probably doesn't.

That works if your Wii shipped with Photo Channel 1.0. But for those with newer Wiis, shipping with 1.1, that doesn't appear to be an option.

Gameplay-wise, no, but the graphics are the original SMB-style ones, and not the SMAS revamp.

Ok, why?

Ratatouille because it's a children's movie tie-in and the Wii isn't sufficiently entrenched in terms of the sales base for it to have supplanted the GameCube. Same reason they're doing a PS2 version.

Can't speak for Madden, though; that makes no sense to me.

Yes, they said that online play wouldn't be added. But I don't remember them ever saying that rumble would be removed. Care to provide a source?

They also get a range of up to 30 feet from the Nintendo bar, though. It seems to me that the difference is probably something to do with your respective rooms/setups.

TalkBack / RE: James Bond Leaves EA for Activision
« on: May 03, 2006, 05:51:38 PM »
Well, depending on who they give the job to, this could be good. I certainly enjoyed the Trek FPSs Activision put out, by Raven & Ritual respectively, as well as some of their other stuff.

As long as someone at EON cares as much as Harry Lang at Paramount did, all will be fine.

Seeing as how they've been using the same AV cables for three systems, I suspect that it'll use the same digital out as the GameCube had. So, for you, getting the cables will be quite easy.

It's going to be post-Clans; the one screenshot mentions the Lyran Alliance, which didn't break away from the Federated Commonwealth until shortly after Clan Smoke Jaguar was annihilated.

And wait. Crimson Skies is BattleTech related? Wasn't that about dogfighting in biplanes between airships or am I confusing that with another Microsoft game?

No, it was about biplanes. And they aren't related. My guess is that the confusion stems from both universes originally being creations of the same game company, FASA.

I'm stoked about the confirmation of the FE games coming here. Which FE is the GBA "FE2" going to be, though, FE6 (the first GBA one we didn't get, that could act as a sequel to the one we got), or the new one that's unrelated?

I don't expect this to be a problem; he did a remix of the Bond theme on the Die Another Day soundtrack, which, past the first fifteen seconds, wasn't mutilated at all. (Even the beginning would've been okay, except the guitars are mixed a bit too loud.)

Nope, you're very, very wrong. Unlike GameCubes, there's no difference in Game Boy Advance hardware between regions; the screens operate at the same frequency and resolution everywhere in the world. That's why there's no region lockout in the hardware.

Well, it'd also offer SMB1--but that's also available as both the Classic Series SMB, and SMB DX for GBC, which had the Lost Levels as well.

Hmm. I'll have to go to Kevin's site and see if he has any samples--I certainly liked the work he did on UT2003/UT2004, and might very well enjoy this without playing the game.

(Does anyone know of a Beyond Good and Evil soundtrack CD?)

If as the linked page with scans suggests, this is a sequel to the first GBA FE game, and if FE GC ends up coming to the US, I really hope that we get a port of the first GBA FE game....
