I concur. Bill's Lolihouse > Wandering's Funhouse... as long as Bill rules the forum with an iron, yet cute, fist.

We don't even have Wal-Marts around here... so it will be the old camp out at Toys R' Us for me (which I enjoyed doing for both the GCN and DS).

I assume where Uncle Bob lives... (he sure makes it easy if anyone ever felt like stalking him)

Did a double take when I first saw "GCN" on there until I figured out they were talking about the site instead of the Gamecube.

Perfect!

10:16AM: The presentation is about to start.

Can anyone actually get that link to work? I keep clicking on "Halle 5" and get nothing. Oh well, perhaps for the best as I to be at work in a little under six hours. Hopefully there will be some nice details to read early in the morning.

Doesn't mean they always take off though, unless there is a special circumstance like with Laserdiscs actually being cheaper there than VHS.

TalkBack / RE: Wii For $170, Says Electronic Arts
« on: August 21, 2006, 12:15:55 PM »
At this stage in the game, Nintendo needs to announce the price before others start to give low-ball figures that will have people dissapointed when the system ends up being more (I doubt the system will sell for $170... but it would be nicer on my wallet of course).

Sincere. As a webmaster, it's ideal to shift the domain name as quickly as possible on larger sites if you are going to do it too, primarly due to the way Google spiders, and how they prioritize in what order results turn up.

Yes, ideally, that name change should occur during the low point in visitation, so the site is all ready to go on the new domain name when its leading up to the Wii launch (which will cause a huge surge of traffic, one can be sure).

Some were hoping for both in the same package. It's like someone selling a foreign film dubbed in one DVD release, and selling a different one subtitled at the same time. Most will probably want one or the other, some would like both though without having to buy each of them.

Personally, this news doesn't really effect me much, but I can see why some are disappointed.

General Chat / RE: PGC Doomed!! (Ok Not Really (Alexa Stats))
« on: August 17, 2006, 11:47:23 AM »
Out of curiosity, figured I would compare PGC with my site... and then was floored to see that we had actually passed them at one point in July (looks like a freak occurence of PGC hitting a low and TK hitting a high):

However, the gap before that point is pretty damn shameful...

Anyway, as others have mentioned, Alexa is not a very good source to get the exact vistor figures (comparing the data we have, ours is way off due to non-IE users). However, it is a decent way to compare sites' respective  traffic against one another.

That data is culled from the nameservers. The error is not Alexa's, but whoever is in charge of the Planetgamecube.com doman name and never updated that information.

There was no interview. That's the power of the internet: mention a source that can't immediatly be confirmed, and then be believed by the masses until it never materializes (which is what happend).

As I recall, Young Link and Game & Watch were also included in the "supposed confirmation" of characters to be removed, while he announced that Bowser Jr., the Cel-shaded Link and Ridley would all be playable... which is all BS at this stage.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Mario & Luigi

I'm fully backing SUPER on this one. The Mario and Luigi games are fun in their own right, but I wouldn't say either was superior to Super Mario RPG for the SNES.

I mean, really, the SNES one had it all:

- excellent pacing for a RPG making it easy to replay from start to finish
- some nice secrets if you don't feel like brisking through (Culex anyone?)
- great music
- diverse party of characters to play as
- the ability to pick up Mario and throw him at enemies as Bowser (I mean, how can you compare?)
- the neat side games along the way

All in all, I really loved Super Mario RPG. It was a great collaboration between Square and Nintendo, whose only real fault was that it could have been longer and that the Yoshi race was kind of a bore.

I was staying at a house before that had one, but wasn't generally impressed with it. It always got stuck somewhere, and I honestly didn't even know it was supposed to return to the charger of its own accord as it never even got close to achieving that. I ended up just using a broom and a dustpan while I could hear it running into various things in the room next door. I guess it saved a bit of time, but nothing I would tout about. Maybe the layout of the house just wasn't meant for it.

Bionic Commando is a Capcom title, though, and I doubt that one of the total 2-3 third party characters slots (of which one is Snake) is going to filled with anyone who isn't a major franchise player.

But what attacks would Daisy have?

In terms of sports, a golf club and a tennis racket are already in Peach's arsenal, while Ness has the baseball bat... leaving Daisy with just stuff related to Soccer and Basketball, unless Mario Kart can be worked in somehow.

That's exactly why I said it was highly unlikely, and his chances of appearing are nill due to not being in the DS version... but that doesn't stop him from being my most wanted addition to the lineup, no matter how remote the chances are.

Again, "REAL WORLD GUNS." Last time I checked, you couldn't buy a laser gun or a super scope that fired off energy blasts at the local "sports store".

From the Smash Bros page:

"After much consideration, we decided to have Snake refrain from using real-world guns—instead, he'll use lots of explosives."

Bullet based guns: out, explosives: okay. I'd suggest a rocket launcher for one of the Advance Wars characters due to that, but I have a feeling Snake is going to have one aleady.

EDIT:
Also, does anyone else think this is likely Snake's level in the background?
