General Chat / Gamingforce?
« on: August 09, 2005, 01:05:42 PM »
Anyone know the status on Gamingforce.com? I know Infernal Monkey posts here, and is a moderator at that site, so I was wondering if perhaps someone had an idea of how long it has been down and if there are any plans to see it return?

Appears that just the domain name needs to be repurchased, although I don't know how willing Bobo is to dish out some more money for the forums.

Nintendo Gaming / New Advance Wars DS screens

Looking good, from the character select screen, it looks like there are going to be a ton of COs in this one. On a side note, I love the huge tank... so big, it's comical really.

Also, how many COs are playing at the same time in that one pic third from the bottom?

Nintendo Gaming / Atari... will they ever catch on? Doubtful
« on: January 07, 2005, 08:51:13 AM »
I think its well documented that the Godzilla game for the Gamecube, "Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee", sold rather well. It was off to a slow start, but sales kept coming in for a long time after release, which is rare for video games. It should also be well documented that the Xbox port of that game was a total failure.

From this conclusion, one would expect the Gamecube to get the sequel. Alas, that wasn't the case, as "Godzilla: Save the Earth" was released for every system but the Gamecube. The logic behind this move just wasn't there, online play or not. The game sold poorly on the Xbox, and great on the Gamecube, why shaft the system it sold best on? Oh well, Atari rushed the game out anyway (and I do mean rushed, as features were slashed like the first GCN release to meet a deadline), and was tossing out free copies left and right to try and promote it (I got one beacuse of my site). However, it appears this failed to change anything. I don't have exact sales figures, but I do know the game is more or less tanking. It has already been placed in the $15-20 baragin bins in stores too, less than two months after release.

The question is, will Atari learn from their mistakes, or continue to make them? My guess... the latter, unfortunately. [end rant]

Nintendo Gaming / Gamecube's worldwide sales?
« on: May 21, 2004, 09:57:18 PM »
Just wondering if anyone here has the worldwide sales of the Gamecube (hardware)? If you happen to have a source for that figure too, that would be great.

Hope I'm not sounding pushy, and thanks for your time.

Nintendo Gaming / Gamecube Versions vs. Xbox/PS2
« on: March 27, 2004, 06:03:46 PM »
Sorry for the semi-vague title, but it’s the best I could come up with to relate to my question, which is related to games which have hit multiple systems. Anyway, I was wondering which games have sold the best on the Gamecube in the U.S., either compared to both the PS2 and Xbox versions or just one, and how often is the Gamecube version ported over later than the others.

For example, I’m pretty sure that the Gamecube versions of both “Sonic Heroes” and “Soul Calibur II” outsold both their Xbox and PS2 counterparts in America.

Thanks for your time.

Nintendo Gaming / Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee 2
« on: March 10, 2004, 06:29:10 PM »

It appears, according to Atari, that the sequel to the 2002 GCN/XBOX game Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee 2 is being made, and will likely appear at E3. No word yet on a system, keeping fingers crossed for Gamecube which seems more likely than Xbox due to sales.

Atari just made a lot of Godzilla fans very happy though, lets hope they improve on the formula and correct some of the mistakes the first game made. Even if the formula is about the same, with just an improved roster, I'll still likely pick this baby up if it hits the cube.

Nintendo Gaming / When is the "Only For" not only for?
« on: December 30, 2003, 06:56:07 AM »
Ok, just got to wondering. Have there ever been any games released on a Nintendo system with the "Only For" logo on them that were then ported to another system, one from the same generation, under the same title?

The only game I can think of is "Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee" which was ported to the Xbox, and I was just wondering if there are anymore? Just for curiosities sake.

Nintendo Gaming / GCN is still in 2nd worldwide, right?
« on: October 24, 2003, 04:46:20 PM »
Ok, someone is bugging me by telling me that the GCN is no longer in 2nd place worldwide, and Xbox has taken that title. I think the person just is confusing the US with the worldwide figures...

Anyway, is the GCN still 2nd worldwide, and if so does anyone have a link that states so?

Thanks in advance.

General Chat / What is the legal "mumbo jumbo" behind audio samples?
« on: September 07, 2003, 05:04:43 PM »
fter searching Google for half a hour with no clear results, I was wondering if anyone here could answer my question.

What exactly is the legal information behind "audio samples'? A lot of sites do it (amazon, buy.com) and I was wondering exactly what terms they have to follow to keep it legal? Is there a time limit, if i had to guess under 30 seconds or 1 minute? What about songs that are less than those listed times? And how would this apply to a audio medium not on CD (example: Game or Movie that has no CD soundtrack, or atleast not that particular song)?

Sorry for the tough question, and thanks in advance.

NWR Feedback / Problem with Planetgamecube's front page
« on: May 07, 2003, 02:52:45 PM »
I know this is probably something wrong with my computer, which is why I didn't post it in "Tech," but everytime I try to view www.planetgamecube.com I am redirected to a lousy internet dialer...

I did a check with ad-aware, and my virus scanner... but nothing... anyone have any clue what could be doing this? It seems to only happen with PGC, just my luck -_-
