I'm being a little cautious but also optimistic. There's still the question of whether or not third-parties will jump aboard but we have EVERY reason to believe they will. The Wii is by far the cheapest and easiest console to develop for and is also selling leaps and bounds above the competition. I mean why WOULDN'T third-parties get on board? Even Sega which
The XBox 360 isn't going anywhere but its complete lack of presence in Japan is always going to hold it back. Even though it had a comparable amount of US support, the original XBox was never able to see the kind of sales the PS2 had because it couldn't match it's support from Japanese developers. Maybe Japan isn't the most important market but it is still vital and, if it wasn't, MS wouldn't have tried (and failed) to win it over as vigorously as they did.
I suppose anything is possible but once the tides have begun to change there's usually no going back.
It happened a decade ago with the PSX surpassing the N64 and it's happening again.
Once it became clear that Sony had stolen the attention of gamers everywhere away from the previous market leader, Nintendo fans anticipated every MAJOR release claiming any one game would steal it back.
Now PS3/360 fans are in the same boat, hyping future releasing as the "turning point" when their console will rise again and crush the Wii. But, just like before, it's just wishful thinking from loyal fans who aren't ready to admit that times have changed.
