I'm still in favor of doing a 3D version of SMB2.

I'm not sure where the "Mario Mario, Luigi Mario" thing came from. But I'm pretty sure it wasn't the movie.

I can remember sitting in the theater watching the movie and being really happy that they explained their names correctly so I must have known about the "Mario" last name before that.

Yeah I think that's the game at question.

Actually, I'm enough of a fanboy to believe Nintendo could turn anything into gold if they tried hard enough. So it might actually work.

They shouldn't bother though. Talk about a franchise that's been drug through the mud and then sent through the wringer a few times too many. I'm actually still waiting for the first level in the last Turok game to load...

Yeah if I remember correctly (which I do) they started calling her "Peach" to sync up her name with the Japaneese versions where they had been calling her that already.

While it's true that Nintendo may be a bit stubborn when it comes to several of their practices it has to be admitted that they are still a profitable company with a bright future ahead of them barring any mistakes made while handling the DS. One must remember this when criticizing Nintendo's cheese...er business practices.

Yes it's happening Oct. 17th-23rd I believe. I read about it in a related article aboutThe Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker being made a player's choice title.

Well there IS a difference between allowing a franchise to go multi-platform (Viewtiful Joe) and potentially pulling a franchise away from Nintendo completely like they MAY do with RE.

General Gaming / RE:*rumor*PSP PRICE ANNOUNCED!!!
« on: September 28, 2004, 09:46:06 PM »
Well this whole thing may have been debunked. See what you guys think.

If you go to this link HERE you will see two posters by the names of  "penance" and "WhiteBoySushi" who say they are from the Torch The Bridge forums. They claim that this whole thing about the PSP costing 350 dollars was created as a hoax originally intended to only fool other TTB forum members but that it spun out of control.

They provide a link HERE that leads to a TTB forums page containg the annoucement as well as the now infamous removed Gamespot article that got this whole thing underway. It's dated Sept. 24th as you'll notice and this all lends credence to the theory that the entire nintendo fansite community has been had.

So what do you guys think? It looks to me like these guys might be telling the truth. Although I know I'm gonna be doing a lot more research before I commit to believing anyone's story.

Actually they did... sort of.  If Sega didn't make a 2D console with 3D capabilities thrown in at the last minute and Nintendo hadn't made a cartridge system Sony probably wouldn't have lasted five years.  They got REALLY lucky.  Both of their competitors f*cked up huge.  The reason the PS2 is so successful is because of the Playstation name, the year head start, Nintendo's constant Cube related brain farts, and Microsoft's inability to break into Japan.  The Playstation was in the right place at the right time and they've been riding that wave ever since.  If the PSP is a success it will because of the Playstation name, NOT for any good reason.  Sony so far has made virtually ever mistake other company's have made when trying to enter the portable market.

I couldn't have said it better myself. (Which is why I didn't and quoted your post)

At any rate, best post ever.

In all honesty when this was pointed out to me, I didn't at first believe it. But after a few other sources began confiming it I took it as truth and posted the news myself at the site I work for. So now that my reputaion is on the line as well, I like others, are hoping it isn't totally debunked. heh

However, operating on the topic as if it IS in fact true, I don't think Sony respects Nintendo at all now. The PSP is direct competition for the DS yet they act as though there is no DS and they can price their system at whatever mark they want. As Marvin the Martian once said "This makes me very angry!"

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Good news for GC from a 3rd party? Actually, yes.
« on: September 26, 2004, 09:26:06 PM »
I think I'll get the game the day it comes out just to spite all these third party developers who bash the GCN for not supplying them with good software sales yet don't see the problem in their releasing the GameCube version six months later.

I understand your reasoning but I'm with KDR_11k. If I know a superior sequel is coming out to an already aged game (granted a high quality "aged" game) I'm gonna skip right over the original and just wait for the sequel. If it's all it's cracked up to be I'll grab the original at it's now super discounted price tag.

The GCN isn't technically even a 128 bit system is it? Isn't it like, 64 bit processor, 32 bit floating point?

For the same reason people insist on Kid Icarus...simple, true, love of franchise. A whole lot of people got turned on to the Pilotwings franchise back when Pilotwings 64 came out. Do to lack of software at the time, if you wanted to play something besides SM 64 this was pretty much your OTHER choice. People have been dying for a new installment ever since.

It's such an odd franchise when you think about it really. Have you ever tried explaining a Pilotwings game to someone who has never heard of it before. You'll get looked at like you have a horn growing out of your head while you're like "No I SWEAR it's FUN!"

I'm still praying for the next Mario title to be on the GCN. I don't think it's unreasonable to think it may in fact be a cube title anyway. I mean we do have quite a while ahead of us before we see the "revolution". Plenty more dev time for a mario game.

TalkBack / RE:Nintendo DS Launch Details
« on: September 21, 2004, 07:07:48 PM »
It's about time Nintendo got it's stuff together when it comes to system launching. The launch is the most important time for a system. Especially for the DS which will only have a short lead on the PSP. It's nice to see that Nintendo is apparantly thinking ahead on this one.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Burnout 3 on the GC?
« on: September 16, 2004, 08:23:13 PM »
Yeah I actually emailed EA about this and used that exact reason. That Burnout had thus far done well on the cube and that the competition as far as racers go was thin on the GCN so BO 3 would sell like mad. But now it turns out that it was Criterion with the stick up their butt all along so I guess I wasted my time.

EA--"You know Criterion, you may want to consider porting Burnout 3 over to the Gamecube. It sales weren't all that bad in the past you know. So what do you think?"

Criterion--"Gaymecube is TEH SUK!!"

EA--"Are you sure because the sales data insists that..."

Criterion--"We sed DUM GayMERcob is TEH SUK!! OnLYNE RULERZZ!! XBOXXX RELERZZ!!!111oneoneone"
