Ah yes. I love a good burn on Navi's vocabulary. I used to turn down the volume on OoT because of her.

Well, she DID get to help a little with the final battle.

My friend and I planned something out today...I took my DS to school today (I know, stupid me) and we stood right in front of the "smart" kid.  So I pull out my DS while the history teacher's not there, and I'm like "Check out my DS!" and he's like "It's not supposed to come out till summer!" and I go, "I have a distant relative who works at Nintendo."  You should have seen the "smart" kid's face...

That was so cool.

Why would anyone want to turn the light off? I haven't enjoyed portable gaming consistently throughout my life. But ever since the SP it's been wonderful.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Famitsu talks to Miyamoto
« on: November 25, 2004, 05:16:16 PM »
A bit more on topic...

I don't think sacrificing Mario now for the sake of the cube and possible leaving the Rev Marioless is a bad thing. Remember that old debate about which series was the best, Mario or Zelda...well the edge has been Zelda's this generation. I mean can you imagine at the next E3 what the crowd reaction would be to promo video of a "mature, realistic" MARIO game? "oooh look at that mustache!" and "Ahhhh, bravo! What a magnifently "adult" looking fat, gross, italian plumber guy!"

No way. Zelda rules the roost so far as the hype machine goes. Which is what launch time is all about, hype. I'm much more worried about the potential lack of Zelda from the Rev launch than the lack of Mario.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Death to GBA
« on: November 25, 2004, 05:09:08 PM »
As has been said before. No developer ignores THOSE kind of hardware sales. The GBA has been dominant as hell as console...not just as a portible system either.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: GBA... or DS?
« on: November 25, 2004, 05:06:28 PM »
The DS is the future of handheld gaming. Go with it and you go wherever the future goes...good or bad. If you go with the SP you KNOW you will have a good library of games to play. But you won't be on the cutting edge like you would be if you had a DS.

I'd go with the DS. It's not THAT much more and if the DS bombs (already a success) you'll still have a really cool looking GBA with two screens!

Nintendo Gaming / RE: New Legend of Zelda already in Quarter 2?
« on: November 25, 2004, 04:59:28 PM »
We shouldn't assume anything about the Zelda progress untill we know something solid. So the game isn't being shown around untill E3. This is just Nintendo's style. They love to keep things under heavy 007 type security. The game could be relatively far along by now.

I just hope the game comes out before next Christmas. Anytime in 2005 would be great.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Control on the Nintendo DS
« on: November 21, 2004, 07:44:45 PM »
There are three different setups for control schemes in SM 64 DD. I like the default but I'm sure others would like one of the two other settings better. I hope everyone who has a problem with DS control has at least tried all of the settings first. I find that keeping the touch screen ususage to a minimum helps.

Like in the default control scheme for the Metroid demo. It was just terrible! I mean I flat out hated it. Too much handmovement form left to right, it was entirely too unfamiliar to my hands. I feel like I did when I learned the N64 controller for the first time.

If they get rid of Icons I'll kill them I swear. And why is only X-Play exempt from firings? Nothing against X-Play (Except of course the fact that Morgan has a big ol' man face and the show was way better when it wtas just Adam) but c'mon.

Lontheman, just contact Nintendo and put that warranty to good use. Get them to replace that sucker for free and while they're at it they can clean your games for you.

And if you get REALLY mad I hear they'll come to your house and wash your car for you.

Indeed. Use that "dollar vote" they were always ranting about in Economics class!

It's sad that certain stores employ such tards but hey I won't condem the entire franchise for it. My local GameSop and EB are both very Nintendo friendly.

I can't figure this one out. Half the sites say Q2 IS TEH ZELDA! And the other say Zelda sometime next year. So which is it?

General Chat / RE:Eye to the "competition": Nintendojo
« on: November 06, 2004, 09:21:12 PM »
I have enjoyed BOTH the dojo AND PGC for quite some time now. I find that although contrasting, they both offer me a great deal. PGC is more of the "cold hard facts" website while the dojo is more of the "fanboyish" site. PGC I can trust and respect for all of it's news, they are never fooled and don't buy into speculation as news stories and they don't report rumors as news either. The dojo on the other hand has always had an almost childlike innocence and goofiness to it that I have grown to like over the years.

The forums are quite different as well. If I want to spout off nonsensical rants I go to the dojo boards. If I want to know hardcore systems specs and analysis from a more unbiased viewpoint I come here.

I think PGC has seen better days (I miss Rick as we all do) but then again the dojo has definately been off of it's A game for a while now. I never bother with their editorials or reviews these days. Just their newsboard and their forums. On the other hand I get  more "full use" from PGC. From the reviews to the news to the boards and editorials I can always feel sure I'm getting high quality not high quantity.

At any rate, my point is that depending on what you're looking for, both sites have something to offer in their own distinctly different styles.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Animal Crossing DS NEW PICs & Info
« on: November 06, 2004, 09:11:18 PM »
Yeah I have to imagine that much of the 3D gaming we'll be getting on the DS will be ports. I mean this is Nintendo's "doing it because we can" approach. Which is good. With the PSP soon to release we'll need all the 3D competition that the DS can give. But I'm sure we're going to see plenty of 2D inventiveness on the DS as well.

Back to AC for the DS. I absolutely cannot wait for this one. I think it could be the "perfect" handheld game for this upcoming generation. Just like I felt Wario Ware was for the current one.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Nintendo's movie trailers
« on: November 06, 2004, 09:02:46 PM »
With some clever marketing and the right audience in the theater, I think movie trailer previews for games are a fantastic way to get to your audience. I mean who knows what specific demographic you're getting on a typical sitcom but at the movies you can deal with very specific age groups and such. It's a great way to get to a target audience.

MP 2 ads before action/sci fi films, Zelda ads before adventure/action/epic drama films, etc.

Yeah but they also said the next Zelda would be cel shaded too. Who knows what's BS and what's not when it comes to Nintendo? No disrespect intended, it's just that sometimes trying to figure out a Nintendo reps quote is like reading ancient sandscrit.

That's true but the idea shouldn't be to get Nintendo fans to play sports games, that ain't gonna happen, but to get sports game fans to buy into Nintendo and become N fans themselves.

I actually started having this problem with my first cube about a year and a half ago I think. It turned out to be a problem with the cube which I had to have fixed. Something about the socket shorting out my controllers.
