TalkBack / Re: Defecting to the Enemy Camp
« on: August 06, 2008, 08:10:25 AM »
I was recently given an opportunity too good to pass up: a ridiculously cheap, 6-month old, 40 gig PS3 words words words

To be honest, this was where I tuned out. Perhaps its because I didn't need to hear another person justify their latest console choice to the general public. Perhaps it was because I already knew most of this, and given I haven't "drunk the Kool-aid" that doesn't mean I'm oblivious to the outside world.

All I know is words are cheap in the grand scheme of things.

stop name-dropping third party sequels in your posts, we know "Game Franchise (X+1)" is on its way

« on: August 05, 2008, 06:50:51 AM »
And I went through the whole Troubleshoot thing and it didn't do ****, so now I'm getting pissed because I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to spend 70 bucks on a whole new CD system thing.

70 bucks? Is it gold plated?

****, after I broke the drive tray on mine (up to three now, its so easy to destroy one that way) I only had to pay $50 for a new one, and that was about a year ago, and it burns dual-layer DVDs.

On a lighter note, how's the trip going?

Pretty sure the LAX thing means he's on his way home. After a couple of stopovers of course...

I'm just saying, when a graphics engine guy is more enamored with the iPhone than the Wii, that's not a good sign.

So the iPhone is now a serious business games system? Fark, we're talking a sample size of one here Lindy, and its a guy who's reknown for dealing with a keyboard and mouse platform.

Take a giant grain of salt and then try and tell me its still relevant to the discussion. The iPhone platform isn't going to take over the DS or even the PSP. Not even when the DS2 and PSPnext are on the market - its just not going to happen.

Didn't you realise that Apple is going after the business users with this latest product? Don't you know about mixing business and pleasure? Come on Lindy, stop trolling.

I'm not currently playing a game. Should I leave this thread immediately or just wait for it to die a horrible funhouse'd death?

LOL  Penny Arcade dealt with Crystal Chronicles in a much better way too. "And I dont have any firends so I'm gunna have to buy 3 hookers to play with"

Oh man, I forgot about that one. You can say whatever you want about Mike and Jerry "selling out" and building an empire around their cartoons, or whatever insults they're throwing around on YCS these days, but that comic was pure gold.

And Mav - no hotlinking. Its been covered before in this thread. Good thing the guy has set up his web server so he can kill paltry attempts like that.

« on: August 01, 2008, 08:04:15 AM »
Yeah, I do empathise (its S, shut up US English dictionary) with the situation. I'm in this "I don't backup often enough" group, and I'm starting to collect redundant hard drives. Haven't had one fail on me yet (but I've haven't owner a Mac either).

I've been throwing around this idea in my head to make an app that will make it as easy as possible to backup my data. I'll keep you posted if it goes anywhere. i don't do Linux or OSX development anymore, just an advanced warning

Yeah the developers seem quite passionate about their game and the state of the gaming industry. Glad I helped them out by getting this.

Shutup you jerkface. You didn't answer my question to a satisfactory level. I understand that I'm bubbling witches and going towards the goal, but what's the point? Who's the end boss? Do I have to dodge a monkey throwing barrels or is this some joke boss like ICO?

i didn't finish ICO, but i think its a stupid game, and yes i own it

Okay, everyone is missing the most important factor of Halbred's post. Sweatpants all the time is unacceptable. Most of the time they are unacceptable. Jerry, what do you have to say on the subject?

Lets just say sweatpants are unacceptable full stop and leave it at that. Jerry doesn't deserve the right to defend himself.

Too late, found it.

bfs: I believe the official quote from The Castle is "Tell 'im he's dreaming" but I don't think the movie is well-known over there...

So, for the complete package, you’ll be spending the wonderful sum of about $366-388 AUD / ~$360 USD. The same package in America costs $169 currently, that’s a mighty, mighty big price slap.

Motherfuckers

Yeah, I love how the video game industry is oblivious to the exchange rate. ITS ALMOST AT PARITY PEOPLE!

EDIT: I should dig up the thread where I predicted $300+ price for Rock Band (gold star if someone else does, I'm sure it contains profanity as well). I love being right, but this time I wish I wasn't.

Where in the world is Rabicle Sandiego?

Spoke with him today. He's across the border in Canada now, managed to lose his credit card and sponged some money off fellow tourists as a result.

Shift Key: -1 for you dude. People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

Jon doesn't post in here nearly enough and that comment isn't going to help.

Geez, you try and funhouse a lame thread and you get shouted down.

Heh, no worries, guys.  I thought it was a little harsh but I don't care, I've been called worse.  :P

It wasn't meant to be offensive. I just think every discussion regarding the Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon (and derivative discussions) deserves to be mocked.

Don't worry Jon, it's Shifty, if he doesn't say something totally dickish to you on the forums, your a boring forumer.

He's right. I don't troll anywhere near as much as I used to. Wear it like a badge of honour.

I need better friends?  What an absurd statement to make.  You don't know me, or my friends, just like I don't know you guys.  Enough with the personal attacks.

Turn on your sarcasm detector. Not all of us are wielding pitchforks...

I found the connection between you and an even bigger loser.

I could care less, especially when all of my friends are playing FPS's on their 360's and PS3s anyways.
You need better friends.
I could build a PC and get the pure, uncut, unadulterated, real-deal FPS experience, but I'd be doing it by myself.
Heard of this thing called the internet? Yeah, there's people on there who are playing the same game as you. No matter how obscure or rubbish it is, you'll find someone else.
Besides, gaming with a keyboard and mouse just isn't comfortable.
Agreed. No couch involved.

There's a clue to what you want to know hidden in this post, EasyCure.

Damnit, I should have talked about losing a friend's hammer or the book of Cyril.
