Same here, actually.

I've got...
17 Wii games (plus 33 VC titles)
11 XBox 360 games (plus 18 XBLA titles)
2 PS3 games (nothing from the PSN Store, yet)

I thought it was originally announced for all 3 consoles and then canceled for the PS3 with no mention of the Wii version again.

I just bought my PS3 the other day (mainly for BD playback). The only on-line game I picked-up for it is Full Auto 2, doesn't appear to be many people playing it on-line anymore.

Anyone take the leap of faith on Nitrobike yet? I really, really want to - but there is no chance in hell I'm going to buy this without seeing a review or two, first. At this point, I think zero reviews amounts to abysmal gameplay. I hope I'm wrong.

GameRankings.com show a 3.5 out of 10  from Nintendo Power. Unfortunately, I think it's safe to assume by the lack of reviews that this is one to pass up. I was really looking forward to it, too.

Good - then my dream still stands. Capcom needs to revamp GNG , VJ-style.

On a somewhat related note, Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts has been on my to-purchase list for months now.  I never got to play it back in the day but I remember drooling over it in Nintendo Power and wishing I wasn't a kid so I had money to buy it.  How does Ghosts 'n Goblins compare?  Is it significantly better than its SNES sequel?  Would I be better served getting it instead?

Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts is like Ghosts 'N Goblins on steroids. It's seriously one of the hardest games ever made.

Actually, pretty much. BUT - I'm not going to buy a PSP just to play one game.

There is something about Ghosts 'N Goblins that is incredibly addictive. It's always been one of my all-time favorite games. When I was a kid I blew tons of quarters on it in the arcade and I've had at least a dozen various incarnations of it on home consoles over the last 20 or so years. This morning I was thinking it would be cool if Capcom updated the game for 2008. I'm picturing something along the lines of Viewtiful Joe. Anyone else with me on this one?

It's a minor annoyance, but I could see how it could really be an issue for someone having to deal with audio from only the TV speakers. My Wii is connected to my HTR, and any time I play GH3 I manually switch the audio to "5 Channel" to force it play via my surrounds. It's sounds just fine, but I will be taking advantage of the replacement program once it is initiated early next year.

TalkBack / RE:REVIEWS: Wii Zapper
« on: November 21, 2007, 04:00:09 AM »
Some quick notes - for those of us with the Nyko Wii Charge Station, the rubberized grip on the battery cover adds thickness to the Wii-Mote which does not allow for it to lock into place inside the Zapper. Not a big deal since it still fits perfectly snug, but it will not "click" into place.

The Zapper is "OK". Not great, not bad - though I've only used it for Link's Crossbow Training. I'll give it a try tonight with Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles. It takes a few minutes to adjust to using it, but overall I've found it to be quite comfortable. My only complaint about it is the size of the trigger - it's so big that even while in what you assume to be a "resting" position, many times I found that finger was accidentally pressing on the "B" trigger. This was most noticeable in the Wii menu because pressing "A" did nothing until I moved my finger completely away from the trigger.

I'm right handed and I think held it with my left hand on the forward trigger.

I may try it again, reversing that grip or by playing disjoint (removing the numchuck from the zapper with only the Wii remote inserted)

I am holding it like I would if I were playing without it: Right hand pulls trigger, left hand controls Nunchuck.

But up converted Wii Graphics?

I'm not sure how much better up converting would enhance the graphics on most of the current Wii library. As with DVDs, I assume it would all depend on the quality of the presentation prior to the up convert. Let's be honest here, besides Zelda, SMG and RE:UC what other games would really benefit? Developers have been extremely lazy with the Wii and a lot of the games have been quite fugly. No amount of upscaling would change that.

BUT - To address your idea, I think a $299 price point for an HD DVD Wii is feasible. Despite Blu-ray fanboys claiming otherwise, I believe a few weeks back Toshiba revealed that they are in fact making money on most of their HD DVD player sales (with the exception of the recent Wal-Mart and BestBuy sub $100 sales), I believe it costs approximately $150 to manufacture the current line-up, which MSRPs for $299 and up (but the HD-A3 can be purchased for about $200). Doesn't is cost less than $100 for Nintendo to manufacture each Wii?

UB - while we're on the topic, do you know if the A2 will be on sale for $98 again during Friday or Saturday's "secret" sales at Wal-Mart. A co-worker of mine is looking to pick one up. It's nice to see Toshiba actively doing what they can to gain market share during this most critical time in the HDM war. I've had my A2 since February (bought it for $350, while it was still retailing for $500) and love it.

I already own a Toshiba HD-A2. I wouldn't have a need for 2 HD DVD players.
