"Xbox's fairly small lead in the USA. The Xbox is leading by a few million here, sure, but the GCN has sold a few million more in Japan as well. "

That's why the cancel each other :0.  I've stated that from the begining.

Xbox has NA while GC has japan.

The figures from Europe were pretty much the same.

"100mill polygons? yeah me too. Microsoft had to reduced that number dramatically. Remember the figures for GameCube? no? yeah, thought so as well. it was 6 to 8 million if my memory serves me right. But here's the kicker that was a very modest figure from Nintendo. But EA did some benchmarks and say GC doing well over 20-44 mps and that's with effects."

Actually the Xbox does hit 100 million polygons per cycle but that's RAW, MS stated from the begining that it'll hit 16million will all effects on vrs nintendo's 12 million will full effects on.

Hell if you really want just the raw data, Sony claims it's hitting 66 million without effect and  16 million full.  :0.

Really the polygons don't mean much because the differences in hardware for example 8 hardware lights for the GC which the other consoles don't have.

Hell I still have a guy (sharkyextreme) who believes the PS2 is the most powerful .

LOL, they only do monthly sales (we should get april's in a few days I'm guessing, and may isn't even finished yet).  My point is if the sales aren't out then what is Nintendo basing MS sales on?  Yeah, that's the rub.

And do you realize how many times Nintendo has "fudged" facts?  And I'm not saying MS hasn't either but lately MS is providing numerous sources to back it's claims--which is the reverse from last year.  If MS is providing three/four independant sources while Nintendo is only providing one which one would you believe?

----------------------------------------------

As for Korea and the other asia markets, sure it's not selling like hotcakes but a few thousand per week is better than 0.  At least MS/Sony are trying other markets, you really never know when a boom will occur (I really doubt Blizzard knew that Starcraft/Diablo would be such a hit in korea prior to it's launching).  That can be said about any market or product.

As for numbers, like you said, it's stated in the existing NPD thread.

If you want sources, there's NPD Jan-March sales which shows the Xbox leading by a majority which cancel's out GC's lead of 200K in Japan sales (media-create or theres a few on the-magicbox.com site as well).

Which only leaves Euro/Aus for the GC.  Do you really think the GC is outselling the XBox there?  MVC is the only source that I know of that does quartly figures for the entire europe, and Chart-track for the UK).

Plus what about the other markets?  GC hasn't launched anywhere's else, but MS and Sony has.  Korea, Hong Kong, even a few south american countries even.  Charts?  Unknown except for the inital Xbox sales from Korea.

And Nintendo even confirmed themselves that they didn't reach the 10 million mark (march 31st deadline) goal.

Considering both consoles were within range of 1/2 million from each other at the begining of 2003, where did nintendo gain these 800K from?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And when was I ever wrong about console sales?  0.

Fact is the only misinformation I gave was about FF not being on the Cube (though I'm 50% right since it's a spin-off).

Unlike Most BIASED people, I only post the facts.

And I already proved you WRONG before.

LOL, that coming from a Nintendo REP no less.

The key is nintendo's comparing MS's 8 million units (Dec 31, 2002) numbers and comparing them with Nintendo's CURRENT numbers (9.3 Million March 31st).  That's pretty much one sided.

Big N did the same thing last year when the Xbox launched in euro.  Nintendo was using current numbers and comparing them with number MS gave two months eariler.

So really nintendo isn't LYING but at the same time it's a bunch of PR BS at it's best.

Nintendo Gaming / GameCube Online

"Theirs actually a program called xbox connect for xbox that does tunneling, and theirs a bunch of people on it.
Don't argue something before you have the facts, thats what a fanboy is,"

What a tart,

375 people global isn't much bud considering it's 3+ million fanbase.  Like I said, it's a joke.

And yeah, I've tried xbconnect (XBC) as well as Gamespy Tunnel.

LOL that's last year's E3 press release though.

This year's it's completely different since Nintendo confirmed no online play, only LAN.

Sure you can use the Gamespy software as a TUNNEL similar to Halo for the Xbox, however that limits the players to only a handful.

First off it's only applies to broadband (Cable/DSL) since that's the way the lan is set up on the GC (you'll need the BBA).

Second you're going either need twin ethernet adapters for the PC or a router.

Thrid you'll need a PC to run the software.

Yeah, that's going limit the amout of gamers who's going try this.

Nintendo Gaming / Big Mistake?
« on: May 16, 2003, 06:30:28 PM »
Most likely you won't be able to get a refund.  Nearly all retails have a "no returns on open items" except some EB's and Gamestop.

My guess either sell it online or you're better off trading it.

For selling use Ebay, and for trading use http://www.tradegamesnow.com .  The value isn't to hot on this item, given the fact that retailers had it on sale for $24 a while back (read my sam's club sales thread).

Word of advise for trading.   Try to get one with some feedback (10+ if you can), and double chech his address with the yellow pages.

General Gaming / GameSpy Halo PC Impressions
« on: May 14, 2003, 04:12:26 PM »
A few facts,

Halo PC single player will be the SAME as the Xbox version.

Gearbox is adding a few maps & modes for the online version.

I'm a bit worried about the netcode--which is key IMO.

"Basically, it'll be MGS1 but with the moves of MGS2. "

Yeah, I agree.

From the Video you can see snake dragging and stuffing a corpse into a locker.  That was only done with MGS2.

And it's not a shot from MGS2 since there wasn't any snow missions in MGS2.

Nintendo Gaming / Right, So What's the Deal?
« on: May 14, 2003, 03:01:53 PM »
Well Soul Player listed a bunch of games THAT I wanted to see, however, several of them were no-shows.

And I think why alot of people are disappointed with Big N since alot of these were non-surprises.  Those that were somewhat suprises ended up backfiring for example that Zelda spinoff.  Guess fans wanted the NEXT Zelda or the NEXT Mario 128.

Surprises like Metroid Prime (alot of people were iffy about it being 3D) help bring excitement to the show and this year Nintendo seems to have leaked it info a bit pre-mature unless it has something up it's selves (a few days left so you never know).

Nintendo Gaming / Hooking your GC to computer monitor?
« on: May 14, 2003, 03:32:05 AM »
You can always go with a PCI TV tuner.

Some of the better ones are LeakTek WinTV 2000 & MSI TV ANYWHERE's.   Both cost the same but for quality go with the TV anywhere's.  The only drawback with the TV anywhere's is it's only supporting mono-sound but if your speakers have AV inputs then that shouldn't be much trouble.  The leaktek WinTv is so-so out of the box but I've heard that you can download third party filters that help the quality, so you might what to talk with someone that has one of those.

As for the $200 option, I take it you're talking about Key Digital's Componet TV to VGA box.  Yeah it only works with progressive scan games.

The other method is using Viewsonics TV Tuner or Nextvision's series.  The N6 is the best in the series but a few commented on the "blue tint" on the screen.   I would get the N5 (better quality than the N4) since it's only $130-150 though it doesn't support progessive scan like the N6 which costs $250+.

General Gaming / PlayStation Portable, a serious contender to GBA?
« on: May 13, 2003, 01:45:42 PM »
What's the big deal is the storage, using mini-dvd's 2.4 inch which can hold up to 1.8GB.

Also it's going support MPEG and higher res.

I'll keep the GBA for now since Sony's still a few years off but at least this means Nintendo's going have to release an GBA2 sooner than later now.

General Gaming / Where would controllers be without Nintendo?
« on: May 12, 2003, 07:01:08 PM »
For some reason 1987 rings in my head when Game & watch is mentioned because that's the year when the actual SMB watch came out (anyone recall those).   Yeah, the first one (DK) was released back in 1982.

The analog it atari though.  If you ever replaced them, you can see they are similar in design.  I've replaced my Directional pad and C-stick on the GC controller (The directional pad was just to freaking  small) :0.  Other than size of the components, it's the same as those 20+ analog controllers from atari.

Nintendo Gaming / the most disheartening crap i have read.....ever
« on: May 12, 2003, 06:21:47 PM »
Actually Tekki is COMPLETLY sold out.  Forgot who's making the controller but they simply couldn't produce them fast enough.

You have to figure that's $200--it's a bit steep for just ONE game.  Though when the Online version is released I'm sure I'll get my hands on it.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And Capcom didn't state it's increasing XBox support, all it stated was due to GC's sales (which excludes GBA) it's cutting back on a few projects.  Can you blame them though?  RE 4 (you have to count the DC/PS2 versions) sold roughly 3+ million WW while RE Remake sold about 1 million and RE 0 sold less than 700k.    If you look an Onimusha or whatever it's called--it sold 1 million in japan (both 1 & 2).

The other capcom games didn't do so hot either, CvM2 & CvSNK2 were also on the GC though I bet 90% of the people don't recall seeing it on shelves.  :0

General Gaming / Where would controllers be without Nintendo?
« on: May 12, 2003, 05:44:50 AM »
Actually, the atari 7800 series had directional pads + the mini-thumb analog (though it was screwed into the already existing directional pad).

That was out a year ahead of the NES but just didn't have marketing capital.  If you look at the controllers of the 7800 and Famicom they are very similar expect the famicom a and b buttons were closer together--the 7800's I think had nearly an inch gap between the two making it quite impossible to button mash :0.

It's really hard to say who did what and "what if".

General Gaming / Xenosaga for $26.99!!!
« on: May 09, 2003, 06:32:11 AM »
Yeah,

I bought mine used for that price :0.

I'm so-so about the game.  I'm near the end of it and I wonder why they even included the GEARS since they are almost worthless.

For some reason the diffuculty lies the parameters--they just don't seem to stable IMO.  I have the highest ether D on Chaos and even special 20% to all ether damage skill yet he still takes nearly twice the damage as my other characters who are weaker.  What's up with that.  And no, I understand about the "poweramps" with the turns too.  It's strange and pretty annoying.

The plot is alright but there's to much "bore" dialog to go along with the good, humor is limited to maybe one or two scenes out of 100's (namely just the captain cuts IMO).

Actually the sounds are the same, unless you decided to download the WARZES version that was floating on the net.

The retail version sounds the same as the SNES.

The only issue with CT on the PSX has to deal with loading battles scenes, which is so-so.  Yeah the Snes version didn't have any loading times (it's a cart ) but it's not that bad though.

Yeah but with a PS2 you can play Chrono Trigger as well.  Plus the others.

Actually you'll only need a PS1 for it but it's FF chronicles I believe off hand (which means you get FF IV and CT).

You can find that for $35 plus it has a new intro for CT.

Nintendo Gaming / Midway losses, Blames Nintendo- less support
« on: May 07, 2003, 12:41:47 PM »
LOL,

You do realize Nintendo THEMSELVES stated the very same thing about the GC.

Sales are no-where's near as high as these companies expect and it really doesn't have much to do with ratings.

Madden, TS2, ect all sold the LEAST on the GC.  For example, Madden 2k3 sold a mere 200K on the GC when is sold 400K on the Xbox, and 1 Million+ on the PS2.

It's not rocket science to figure out that nintendo HAS to do something, which it has (it dropped the royalities DOWN, which now matches Xbox & PS2, yeah not only did the games sell less but they also generated the least on the GC).  Another step seems to be the DEAL with EA and it continuous Support.  Not really sure the exact deal but one can assume there was a one.

General Gaming / Sonic Heroes on Xbox and PS2, yay or boo?
« on: April 29, 2003, 05:58:31 AM »
Why should Sega limit their sales though?

Unless nintendo offers a deal with them like most exclusives, then I don't see the harm in multi-developing the game.

My guess is Sega already offered the deal but nintendo waved on it which kinda makes sense to me.  If you were nintendo would you spend millions to get sonic or spend those millions on a genre that you don't already donimate in?
