General Gaming / PS2 error help

My portly freind needs some help.  He wasnt to smart and bought a PS2.  But now he has a problem.  Some of the games he trys to play works and some dont.  He looked and there were no scratches on the disks or smudges. When he puts the game in that doesnt work the system does not recognize the disk in the system.  It acts like there is no game in there at all.  Do you guys know what the hecks going on?  any recommendations?  Should he call the sony people and ask whats up?

I have always been a fan of the mario series and i havae  afew questions on the origins of the characters in double dash. Is toadette just a random female citizen of the mushroom kingdom?  It says that Bowser junior is Bowsers son , what happneed to the koopa kids in the older mario series?  Are baby mario and Baby luigi the offspring of mario and luigi or are they from that one yoshi's island game where mario got turned into a baby? is diddy kong donkey kongs son? and where did waluigi and Daisy come from? ( i think i saw them both in mario tennis for the 64, was that there first game?)

There is so many titles out there now like final fantasy tactics advanced and fire emblem, and mario and luigi.  Chech those out they all look very good but if you arent satisfied you have nothing to fear.  Look back on the classics this holdiay season,maybe give a pokemon game you never tried a good run (there all great), if you ahvent tried the advance wars and golden sun and super mario advance series give them a good try they are all really good.  There are still many more good games out there, the GBA if perhaps the best system out there so give all titles a try.

I love mario kart double dash but i think i thought up a good idea.  You keep the good multiplayer modes and stuff but you add a story mode.  You play as mario as he goes through 4 different cups.  When you when teh race you get some items and when the cup ends you go to a platform mode(similar to mario 64).  As the races pass bowser and his freinds cook up a scheme to do some dastardly deed like steal the princes and her allies's karts and win the cup and take a hold of mushroom kingdom.  When you end each cup you use your items to defeat bowsers friends and stop his plan. HOw do you guys think of the idea?

What do you guys think of this article in the new Game Informer? For GI its not bad and i was pleased with the issue as a whole.  BUt here is the breakdown by console X-box-18 Gcube-22, and PS2-30(this includes non exclusive games that appear on all consoles).  No suprise for number 1 The Legend of Zelda the wind Waker.  GC noteables are Metroid PriME (9).  Viewtiful JOe (17).  Mario Sunshine (22), Animal Crossin (24), Resident Evil (26).  Super Smash Bros(28),  Eternal Darkness (30)  Monkey Ball (34), Pikmin (45),  and Star Wars Rouge Leader (47).  I was disappointed that Animal Crossing wasnt in the top 10, it should be, Maybe ED should be higher.  And they should of delayed this list 1 month so Mario Kart could go head to head with ZELDA  for the top spot.  Any good titles that missed the list?

Nintendo has a lot of franchises, so much so that they can be spread out to accomadate for steady sales.  But we've been seeing a blitz of good titles coming at us for the holiday season(mario kart,mario party5, zelda tetras trackers kirbys air ride,pikmin 2) and some in the late winter early spring months.  BUt do you think that nintendo should halt production of some games (animal crossing,mario 128, paper mario, Donkey Kong GC, Metroid Prime 2, a new zelda) so they would have so hot titles for the N5 when its launched.  It would suck having a mario realsed a couple monthes before the N5, so the N5 doesnt have one.  I think they should not hurry the animla crossing 2 devlopment, that game takes time.  Paper mario is proably still in the early stages.  So what do you guys think.  I always like to not hurry game productions so you get  a better product but if they dont hurry they might have to make that game for the N5.

I was dissapointed this year for the lack of good features that arise when you connect your gba to madden 2004.   I wanted in multiplayer a feature that lets you call your plays on the gba, and maybe some mini games.  What do you guys hope for in the next addition of madden as far as gba connectivity, as well as other EA games

why would nintendo put a platinum wave bird out if it already has a gray wavebird and nothing else.  I was waitng for some new cool colors but i gave up and got a regular controller.  Do you for see any new colors coming out?  and what about the new wavebird that was suppose to come out that was more poweful

Nintendos gamecube has been selling pretty good and a good holiday season ahead when sony could come in and crash the party.  I read that sony is seriously thinking of cutting the PS2 down to 99$.  This would kill nintnedos marketing scheme when a more poular counsel is at the same low price.  What do you guys think?

Nintendo has alot of good new titles on the table right now, which one do you think has what it takes to be the gmaecubes #1 best seller.  Viewtiful JOe and Mario Kart are very good candidates.  but almost too good, maybe people like me will buy them before december 25th.  You  also have a very good candiate for game of the year in zelda but most people might have it already, but with more people owning a cube every day they might want zelda.  Then you got mario party 5 which i think will be out this year.  but i personally think this seires is getting to old and no new innovations in site this may be a dissapointment in terms of the money brought in.  Then you got wildcards like kibys racing, and mario golf, wrestlemania XIX.  What do you guys think.?Personally im predicting Mario Kart though my gift is going towards some GBA love(in the form of Mario&Luigi and maybe an older GC game like luigi's mansion.).

I thought id share with you an amusing anticdote.  I signed up for a viewtiful joe fansite (that was i think ran by capcom)and wrote a little story or something and they said they would send me some viewtiful joe cards and tattoos.  So open my package yesterday and cards just fall on the floor.  I got them all up onto my bed and i counted 142 cards!  and there were 5 different kinds.  Im not complaing it was just weird that capcom sent me 142 cards, i mean what am i suppose to do with him.  Well im anxiously waiting my viewtiful joe game to arrive and its driving me nuts, any body have it and enjoy it?

When capcom first said that VJ was coming out i was like hmmm seems weird.  But i picked up the demo disk this summer and i love viewtiful joe.  Ive been reading all about it since, and it looks awesome.  I was really pumped when i saw the screen shot of him the plane, and when i learned that when you ebat the game you can play as captan blue.  I ordered it yesterday from gamestop, and am so excited.  How do you guys feel?  It recieved GI's game on the month in the latest issue.  Any other recent news?

Hey, I picked up the demo disk this summer and i loved Viewtiful Joe, so i waited until now and im thinking what pre-order should i get.  At gamestop.com they have a Viewtiful Joe bobblehead free, and at capcoms website they have a t-shirt that joe wears in the game for free plus free shipping.  Im not all to crazy about the t-shirt because no one would know what the shirt means(even i dont, it has 3 letters and i dont know what they stand for).Has any one else seen any good pre-order gifts for this game, or any advice on which one to get? thanks

We havent seen the man in the green suit since he went hunting for ghosts (not counting golf or smash bros) and it seems like luigis mansion didnt sell to good.  Looking at a preview from mario and luigi for GBA it seems to hint that luigi is taking a back seat to his brother.  So what do you think the future holds for luigi?  Will he always be marios side kick?

Every one saw in mario golf peach and Daisy were sporting some new outfits.  They are considerably shorter do you guys like this?  I'm far from not being straight  but im not attracted to fictional people made out of pixles, I think Peach should have kept her classier longer dress.  Or do you guys think that this new look attracts more people to look at the games shes in?  the choice nintendo made was an intreseting one but not a huge one but its still interesting.

Every body knows now that nintendo is planning on realeasing some new games soon, will one be a punch out remake.  I think nintendo could make a good addition to the series.  I started a thread last winter that talked about a good story mode,and a multi player mode.  The one i suggested was to have little mac give one last title shot to a competitor and have his 3 sons of which have different abilitys and you can control one of them.  And it would be cool if every time you win a belt you can unlock a character for multiplayer play.  Do you guys think that the players should be able to move there feet?  And when you with every fight you win money which you can buy new shorts or gloves, or maybe even like hats or pads and stuff.  What do you guys think.

In a recent EGM article it said that nintendo isnt going to let sony take the handheld market away from them like they did the console market.  And they said that we might see a new version of the GBA.  We just got the SP and thats selling like hot cakes so what should nintnedo do.  I say speed of work on there next gameboy and make it run on little dvd's.  If they dont they could lose the handheld market and thus eventually be pushed out of business.

I was thinking it sucks wasting batteries in my wave bird, but i like the wireless play.  So i was wondering what about putting the lithium-Ion battery that is in the GBA SP into the wave bird so you just have to recharge the battery every week or so.  Would this add alot of cost to the wavebird, would this make more power  for a rumble feature? what do you guys think

Hey, I have always been a pokemon game fan but i just picked sapphire up about 2 weeks ago.  And i love it, its still the same great game but with good additions in it.  And as im reaching  the end of the game i was thinking "There gonna make another version right?"  They proably will.  But i dont expect it for a couple of years (maybe 2).  So what do you guys wanna see in the next one?  Anything you want to add? or subtract?  Here is what i want:  I would like the ability to make your own TM's.  Say your pokemon is going to learn rock throw but you dont want him to learn it but you want another pokemon to.  You could buy a machine to save rocksmash and make it a TM so you can teach it to someone else.  Maybe some new HM moves, we have had the same ones since blue, and red(except dive, and maybe 1 more).  More puzzles.  Stronger wild pokemon, more trainers in the gyms.

Ive been defending Game Informer for a while but now there just really bugging me.  Aside from saying metroid prime is going to suck and then give it like a rating of 9 or so, there actions lately just got me mad.  First they write off mario party 4 (they gave it a 5)which is actually a pretty good game, but it was in small print below that they told us that they had it out for this series from the start(not many people read that far down, opposed to the main article).  Then in this issue it basically said someone should sue nintendo for there horrible games like wario ware Inc.  While most other gamins sources gave it a high rating(Gamespot.com gave it a 9.1) and it looks really fun and im proably going to buy it.  Then when I looked at the charts for the writeup under Pokemon sapphire they said something like "all good things comes in three's while pokemon has always come in two's.  No it hasn't!  this is the first installment that didnt have the third game(there was blue,red,and yellow, then came gold, silver, and crystal).  I didnt get it take a good look at this month's game pro but it looks like they have a wopping 1 review!  So it may not just be GI thats dissing the cube.

General Chat / Being a small town gamer stinks!

I love nintendo and games but being a small town gamer stinks.  First people in small towns arent to rich (most people in my town are proably at the poverty level, but we have more than enough money) but we so cant start throwing around $50 for games we might not like.  So the solution is to rent games.  We have one store that rents games (15 miles away).  This week we finally got skies of arcadia, at the game renting store.  Which ive been wanting to play for a long time.  I almost just went out and bought it but i drooled over the sexy GBA SP and got that instead.  But the problem is they only have 1 copy of skies of arcadia!  A very good rpg in an rpg loving community, and with no other good rpg's for the cuve, the stinking store gets 1 freaking copy!  there was 3 copies of windwaker and all of them were at the store.

Hey, This game looks great, I've been loving the mario rpg's nintendo made, and this one looks similar.  Does anybody know if mario and luigi are the only ones you can control in battle, and if not what other characters can you control.  I want Geno and MALO!
