Hell, even if those 7 games are exciting, I'll bet at least 3 of them will get cancelled or something. You guys are actually expecting cool games from Sega? They probably have Charolette's Web for Wii or some garbage like that. Their support for PSP over DS should give you a clue.

Just check any website for the headlines, I'm too lazy to dig it up.

Anyway, this bit of news could be bad for those hoping for the NiGHTs rumor to be true. Unless I'm mistaken, Yuji Naka is the person responsible for the original, NiGHTS, correct? If not, then you can pretty much ignore everything. If I'm right, then read on. Unless NiGHTS for Wii is already completed, it makes no sense to abandon it before finishing it. The only likely reason is that Naka's not in charge of the sequal in the first place, or it might be handed down to his new company. While it's possible, it's also silly to do such a thing. Work on an extended period of time on a project only to move it around to another company (even though the same guy is heading it). Heck, for all we know, a sequal could be in the works, but will be PS3/360 only.

Of course I could be completely wrong, but that's not such a bad thing at all. Whatever's the case, I'd keep my hype in check tomorrow. You might be pleasantly surprised, or left totally disappointed.

Bloodworth, you missed the point. The point is: if you can't play pirated games on the system, it won't be popular in China.

As for games like Zelda and Metroid, I know Zelda has been pirated (I've seen a GB Zelda game with OOT boxart and screen shots), but they don't sell very well. The Chinese simply don't give a damn about good gameplay. Nintendo destroys piracy, so even though the games are pirated, it's hard to get it into people's hands. Outside of Mario, Nintendo has no big name killer-app for the Chinese market. Admittingly, I haven't been back to China for 6 years now, so perhaps the I-Que managed to gain some tiny bit of popularity there. Or maybe not.

Fat chance the Rev will be released in China--at least not anytime soon. China is the land of bootleg. Did you know the Sega Genesis was THE system to own there because Sega isn't as hard on piracy as Nintendo? No one in China even knows what's an SNES, let along N64. Plus, most of the Chinese population don't know games like Zelda, Metroid, Pilotwings, Starfox, or even Kirby. These big name games mean nothing to them. But they'll gladly embrace garbage like Final Fantasy and the like. The Gamecube's not even in China, yet. The PSX/PS2 is all the rage because of it's ability to play bootleg. Of course now that Sony's using Blu-Ray, I don't know how it'll affect the market there. Or people might just go play more PC games instead.

Famitsu is known to give higher scores to their biggest advertisers like Capcom, Square, and Enix (Squareenix now). The person who told me this is Desmond Gaban, he used to contribute to PGC a few years ago. He knows the gaming scene in Japan.

You guys do realize that Famitsu is the Japanese equivalent of Gamepro, right? It's not the "uber well respected mag" that everyone makes it out to be. It used to be well respected anyway. Ironically, only Americans still take this mag seriously. For one thing, the person who enlightened me with this bit of info used to work for PGC long ago, and he's quite well aware of what's going on in Japan.

If the creator doesn't want to make a new one, I doubt anyone can force him to make a new one. Sega can get another team to work on it, but the true genius behind the game won't be involved. Anyway, this rumor is just that, a rumor. I seriously doubt it'll happen.

Actually, they're up to the 11th game now. I'm one of the millions of players who play the game. Romance of The 3 Kingdoms is based on an extremely popular novel in China; guess where this game gets all it's sales from?
