Bad

-Battery powered remote

Because we all know pausing the game for 90 minutes while we wait for the rechargable battery to charge is a great idea.

It would be awesome if they include rope mini game for HM Wii where you swing your rope to catch your cows for fun.

The models look excellent, the background look aweful. The cars look like they were ripped straight from an N64 game.

It's definitely in-game. You can tell the imperfections in the polygonal models. Plus, do people show FMVs to show off Nintendo products? The video is an FMV, but using the in-game engine to create the cinemas.

The girl's voice wasn't too bad. This game sounds like Killer 11. Kill the 10 other hitman above you to become the number one hit man.

We are talking about the same man who insulted SSBM just cause Solid Snake couldn't be in it. Ok, I'm not sure if this is actually true, but it's not out of the question. Why would you want your character in the game if you don't like it in the first place? I know I wouldn't beg someone to add my character if I didn't like the game.

Kojima's a devil's advocate. I don't trust or respect this man very much.

This is CAPCOM we're talking about here. Second of all, there's already rumors hinting this game will be a remake of either RE4 (with the PS2 stuff added in), RE2, or a Gun Survivor game. Normally I wouldn't trust rumors, but this is Capcom we're talking about here. They'll find some way to screw over Nintendo fans.

I don't buy the Kojima rumor, he's too focused right now in MGS4 , I bet he hasn't even thought about the wii game, he probably has a concept and nothing more, and he has expressed his love for the wii more than one ocassion. MGS4 isn't even finished why would they port some game that probably doesnt even have begun production from a console that hasn't been released yet to another that also hasn't been released?

Miyamoto himself is usually involved with more than 10 games at a time. I don't see how Kojima couldn't be involved in multiple projects. Just cause the console's not done yet doesn't mean they can't start working on the game. If people wait till the consoles is out to make games, we'd be sitting with a useless console for months without a single game to play.

335
Most of those rumors don't sound TOO fake, and some of them could be quite real indeed. My money's on Kojima canceling the Wii game to port it to PS3. That has the highest chance of being real.

And people... it's already confirmed that the Virtual Console will support CD based game systems. The Turbo Duo is supported on the Wii. It uses CDs. Of course they've only confirmed CD1 games, but it's still a CD game. Castlevania is a Super CD game just so you know, so we don't know if they'll support CD2 and Super CD yet.

RE4 is old news now, TP is the game that sets the new graphical standards on GC. Still, if you want accurate comparison to "super computers" the 2 Rogue Squadron games can not be beaten. They use the exact same models/textures straight from ILM (with the textures being lowers resolution of course). We're talking about a system that basically delivers movie like graphics, and the Wii is 1.5 times the power. That is more than enough power for me.

First of all, the "blurry" textures aren't blurry, they're dirt roads. All dirt road textures look like that. Second of all, I notice nobody pointed out the beautiful lighting that is reflected off the car along with environment mapping reflecting off the back. Everything in the picture are completely organic, as in no sharp polygon edges can be seen anywhere (not without a magnifing glass anyway). The hills are smooth and round as are the vehicles.

Just one day after my rant about the lack of quality videos, I stumbled upon a high quality version of the Pokemon video. This isn't anything new, except that you can actually SEE what's going on without the screwed up colors and blurry lighting. You'll notice the background this time (cause I sure as hell couldn't see them in the last video). The resolution isn't big, but very clear.

Boy, it's been a long time since we got any real screen shots of Wii games. I still can't believe that after E3, we're still getting crappy screen shots ripped from the E3 show floor and fixed up with Photoshop to kind of look like it's a high-res direct-feed. About the only thing we got so far are Sonic and Red Steel screen shots.

Anyway, here's a single screen shot of Excite Truck. Yes, a single freaking screen shot!

lol, we had this up ages ago -bloodworth

Now, outside of the low polygon count and the freakish eyes, something about those graphics don't look quite right... They look BETTER than what DS games should normally look. There's some kind of filtering in those screen shots. I don't know if the creators managed to use some new software programming to make that or did they photoshop it to look better. Bilinear filtering is about the only feature I really wanted for the DS and it would be great if it is indeed possible to do it through the software.

TalkBack / RE: DS Lite Contest Winner
« on: May 25, 2006, 08:22:21 AM »
There's no bandwagon here to jump on. Heck, even if we raid PGC's HQ to force them to change the winner, it won't benefit any of us here. I couldn't even get mine in on time...

Ok look, I'll be honest, I also had the idea of using the DS as a chick magnet, but I thought it was too stupid so I didn't send it in. Had I known it would have gotten such high praise, I would have sent mine in as well.

Hey, why don't we do a little vote here just for fun? Let's vote the winner and see what the readers like. The winner will get... nothing.

Zhen and Nate's entries were great as well, but in the end, I just liked Dan's better. You can't please everyone, I guess, but can you all at least be happy for the winner getting a new DS Lite?

Nah, nobody's blaming you or anything. Besides, isn't it a group thing where the staff of PGC all voted on it? I doubt you're the only one who decided the winner. I really am curious as to how close the other 2 entries got being the winner. Did Dan win by a landslide or just barely beat the other 2?

I just want to see a contest for alternate use of Wii (minus the family friendly rule). It'll be very interesting.

To me, the biggest problem is that PGC themselves missed the point of their own contest. It clearly states: "the reader who could come up with the best alternative use for the new handheld." Dan's entry really has nothing to do with alternative use. It's like a beauty contest where the judges just picked the girl with the biggest rack and forget about everything else.

just picked the one that made them laugh the most...

I think that's completely untrue. Dan's entry wasn't funny at all. Nate C's entry probably should have won if you go by which is the funniest.

Hey, PGC guys, you plan on making a similar contest for the Wii? I doubt we'll be able to keep it family friendly though.

The first one just reeks of geeky desperation

Yeah, I think the first one was odd in a bad way. Also, have you notice that it didn't really focus on using the DS? It seems more like a weird fantasy/pick-up lines with the DS shoved in at the last minute. Isn't the focus of the contest about creative ways to use the DS? I feel like Dan's entry completely missed the point of the contest.

I thought the other 2 were much better. Zhen's really focused on using the DS in multiples ways. Every bit of it was about how to use the DS. Nate's doesn't use it that much, but it was the funniest. Yeah, the Dracula line also cracked me up.

Me, I'd toss a coin on Zhen and Nate's entry to decide the winner.
