Oops, already singed up, but at least it will be the same name as on here. Anyone know of a way to change your screen name on nintendo.com?

Nintendo Gaming / RE: FZero sound test?
« on: July 27, 2003, 09:54:42 PM »
Hmm, that site doesn't seem to be working for me. Does the site have MP3s from GX or he old FZeros? I can get some of those from other game sound sites as well.

Nintendo Gaming / FZero sound test?
« on: July 26, 2003, 09:33:47 PM »
I was wondering if there was any kind of sound test mode for FZero. All of the videos I have downloaded so far, it is hard to clearly make out the soundtrack in the backtground with the voice overs from the track announcer and the car sounds.

That info was so helpful. Thanks for the link to that. I copied all that guy had to say down just for future references.

TalkBack / Yet Another F-Zero Website Movie Update
« on: July 18, 2003, 11:02:24 PM »
They could actually use some of that video to make a kick ass commercial when it gets closer to launch in NA. But they probably won't. Hopefully they use at least a little FMV in a commercial though.

Nintendo Gaming / Wario needs YOUR help!
« on: July 17, 2003, 09:44:51 PM »
It's too bad Nintendo has so many of its own characters going against themselves. Oh wait that might be a good thing because then there would be a better chance of a Ninty character winning again.

NWR Feedback / Stop stealing content from other sites ... ?
« on: July 14, 2003, 08:40:52 PM »
You have to remember too that all PGC staff is "donating" their free time to work on the site. Sure they may not get the info up right away, probably because they are living their own life. Other sites like you mention, ign, those editors are at work getting paid 8 hours a day with nothing else to do. Usually when information comes here later, it is because they are trying to get a confimation from a solid source rather than just mentionings (a word?) around the net.

Nintendo Gaming / Nintendo on Life Support?
« on: July 14, 2003, 08:36:41 PM »
In my recent trip to Canada, I figured that the Space Channel up there is similar to the Sci-Fi channel here in the states. But ya, different shows for the most part.

I could see what you are talking about. Almost like blackmailing Sony and MS. That if they couldn't develop their games for the system, then they only will for Cube. But with so many scalings back, I don't see that happening either. Hopefully though, these scalings will bring us higher quality games.

Nintendo Gaming / Nintendo Commercials Thread

They even mention  the GBA link up in the Madden commercial. At least they are starting to mention it, and not just leave it to be in the manuals.

Nintendo Gaming / GBA light source
« on: July 11, 2003, 07:59:17 PM »
It is not as good as the SP as there is still a small glare spot. But it is better than pretty much anything else external. But, it weighs about as much, and about as thick as a GBA itself. So you better have some big pockets. Also, there is a small clip that goes on the front end of the GBA (side closest to you) that can greak easily. Mine just did after getting it back in nov, oct? There was a long period where I wasn't playing gba though too.

Anything else external? I don't have a sautering (sp?) iron and would like to stay cheap for now.

Nintendo Gaming / GBA light source
« on: July 07, 2003, 10:36:54 PM »
I've had the gamester floodlight for quite a while and have been fairly pleased with it. I was wondering if there have been any other light sources that have come out since this that are at least comparable. I want to get an SP as well, but am waiting will at least September when the new ones come out at least.

« on: July 07, 2003, 12:57:06 AM »
Here's some new scores to post:

Introduction: 25
Total Boss: 12
F-Zero: 44
Metroid: 167
Banana Munch: 122
Hard Core: 113

I did hard core right after banana, which was right after the metroid. Just call me flying fingers, hehe.

General Gaming / Hooking up to a monitor
« on: June 29, 2003, 01:04:37 AM »
I have the s-video cable from monster. I believe I got it at circuit city since that is the only electronics store around here. Yes, here they are Monster GCN s-video cable. They work great for me, just wish my roomate had a better tv. I can use them on either my computer (have all in wonder vid card with s-vid in) or on tv. The cord is long, probably about 5.5 feet at least if not 6. Good thick rubber on them.

I had the interact ones since launch, but the coating on the s-vid part of the cable split exposing the wire since it was very thin. I even noticed a slight difference when hooking up my monster cable over the interact.

Also to play my prog scan games on computer directly to my monitor, I imported a vga cable here:
vga cable. But not all monitors will support it. Some older ones (couple years) won't take the signal. You've got a few options out there to work with.

TalkBack / Eternal Darkness the Movie?

If they put some of the game into the movie then they could also twist in some advertising for it and maybe get some more sales. But if the show had no connection to the game other than the name Eternal Darkness and the Tome, then some people could be left with a sour taste in their mouth like many did when playing ED the first time expecting RE. Sure there would be similarities, but if the content is much different they won't seem like the same ideas.

I feel that it would be better if they include stuff from the game and expand on them to make the episodes (or movies) longer and more detailed. DD said that there was tons of stuff that they couldn't get into the game and wanted to. Why not use those ideas like spinoffs in the show to add more depth. This could attract some of the x-files fanatics if done correctly. This could either succeed or bomb badly. They better have someone from SK overseeing it, preferably DD so that it stays true to the game and their ideas.

Nintendo Gaming / RS2 Commercial!!

GamingID has the new tv commercial for Rogue Squadron 3. Good little teaser. They say it is high quality, but don't be fooled. It's not that great of quality, decent but nothing I would call high quality.

edit: Fixed subject from RS2->RS3, geez i'm tired.

Nintendo Gaming / Gameboy advertising
« on: June 03, 2003, 11:40:09 PM »
I saw 2 commercials for Donkey Kong Country on MTV tonight.

One was of 2 cliffs in the middle of nowhere and a bird flying. You hear a rumbling in the background then a rhino runs from left to right jumping the gap between the cliffs. Then it jumps to gameplay vids of riding the Rhino. Tagline is something to the effect of "Only in Donkey Kong Country".

The second is an underwater shot with fish swimming. Then in the background is a dark shape wich ends up being DK swimming towards the camera. This is not a animated DK, it looks like they actually got someone to dress up in a costume and swim in water. Then it cuts to some gameplay vids of the swimming levels. Then same tagline.

GBA game commercials have always been at least decent if not good. Glad to see that the trend is continuing here also.

Nintendo Gaming / Conflict: Desert Storm (Brilliant)
« on: May 28, 2003, 10:56:43 PM »
I rented it and thought it was no more than meh. Controls were somewhat awkward and graphics were alright. Some of the controls did not even match up with what they said they were in the game. I remember that one of the control settings was switched between the c-stick and the d-pad. Switched from what they said it was in the game. I didn't play more than like 60 minutes of it until it was placed back in the rental case never to be opened again.
